Inspiron Custom Parts?

So just a quick question really, I'm thinking about buying a new graphics card and general parts for my Inspiron. i5 I believe not sure what else comes after that though. I don't have my computor with me right now, so I have no way of checking, but, is it possible? Am I able to access the hard drive and add/ remove stuff? A quick answer would be appreciated. And if it is possible (which I honestly doubt) could you kindly add a bit of a guide for me or link me to something that may help. As I just said, I would not be at all surprised if it weren't possible, but just thought I should ask you guys beforehand :D.

VOSTRO 3750 - FN + F3 - Touchpad Will Not Disable - Touchpad Very Sensitive

$

I have recently encountered this issue with my VOSTRO 3750 and currently have not been able to locate a fix to the problem.  I cannot turn on / off my touchpad using the Fn + F3 key combination.  The touchpad on the VOSTRO 3750 is very sensitive (and I cannot seem to adjust the sensitivity level) and I cannot type on the keyboard without grazing the touchpad (due to the location of the pad) and sending my cursor somewhere else.  This causes me to type in a different location than I originally intended or will cause me to open files / folders that I do not desire to utilize at the time.  This has become a true headache to me....

This issue just surfaced within the past day or two.  I have owned this laptop for a couple of years now, and have not had this problem previously.  I have always been able to turn on / off the touchpad using the Fn + F3 command.

I have looked for "Hardware & Sound" in the Control Panel (Windows 7) and do not see that listed.  I did find one area that had the touchpad (Control Panel - Mouse) and clicked on the update driver tab which advised me that the correct (current) driver was installed.

I am at a lost and would really like to find a solution to this issue....

Thank you in advance for any assistance that you may provide me.....

for E6410: System Analysis still showing me that I have to make three updates and nothing changes if I install them. Need advice.

I have the latest drivers, freshly installed, but when I scan again the system, it says I need to install these (see image). I download them, I install, I reboot... and still uninstalled.

What is wrong here? Please help. And I won't be happy with something like "don't worry, if your system is working, just ignore them". Because if that is the case, then for sure I can expect more things not taken care of, from Dell.

Dell N5110 White Screen Will not connect to monitor

I get a white screen when booting up my computer. It will not connect to an external monitor. I've run the "D" check and my screen just remains white.

Is it the video card? Graphics Card? LCD cable?

Also, is it possible to run the Dell System check from another computer? My computer boots up, but I can't see anything on it to check it.

Dell Inspiron 7537 after restart (or switching on) keyboard is not working

Hello!

I've got Dell Inspiron 7537. Fresh install of Windows 8.1. All drivers and BIOS updates installed form Dell's site.

After I restart (or switch on) my laptop, sometimes keyboard is not working. Only special buttons like keyboard illumination or airplane mode are working. All other - letters, numbers, win-key etc are not working.

Issue is completely random and not possible to recreate on purpose. Can be one week without this problem, or can happen tomorrow.

What I've already tried:

1. Reinstalling Windows

2. Deleting and reinstalling default keyboard driver form Microsoft in Device manager.

3. Updating BIOS

4. Running built-in Dell Diagnose utility (passed)

5. Disabling Quickset from startup and enabling it back.

I have a strong feeling, that it is a software problem.

For the moment issue is still there. Can anyone give me an advice please?

XPS 15 (L521X) Keyboard Support

Hello All,

I currently have a XPS 15 (L521X, Mid 2012) that I use at college, and it's "p" key has been getting harder and harder to press. It's at the point where hitting it does not register any action unless I press down on it.

How do I solve this issue? Do I have to open the laptop up/take the key out? And how do I do this?

Thank you!

Can Anybody Help With A Rather Unusual Fault On My XPS M1730

Hi guys and gals,

Any input on this would be much appreciated as it has me baffled, firstly I would like to say that my M1730 has not been used for gaming and overclocked for quite sometime now and since I upgraded to Windows 7 64bit with the correct drivers has just had very occasional light use.

I came to boot the XPS up the other day and nothing came on other than the power LED, the drive was inactive no display or illumination apart from the optical drive spinning, after doing this several times I left it for ten mins or so powered on and for some reason when I got back to it decided to eject the optical drive at which point it sprang into life and booted up but now after loading Windows it throws up "display driver has stopped responding and has recovered windows kernel mode driver v327.02"

I have Goggled the fore mentioned error and found several solutions but I am baffled as to why I need to eject the optical drive to boot the machine ?

If anybody could shed any light on this or have had a similar experience I would much appreciate your input as this XPS is like new and has had very little use and would be sad to lose it :-(

adaptor not recognised battery not charging

Hi all,

Seems this is a generic issue - can anyone suggest a fix. I have an xps12 that doesn't recognise its adaptor, runs fine on AC but batter is now totally dead. I tried a different Dell 45W adaptor (borrowed) and it charged the battery, I then bought a cheaper 3rd part adaptor - which also worked for a week or so.

Now am back to unrecognised adaptor, no charging. BIOS is version AO8 but even if there is an update I can't install since my battery is on zero. Battery utility (Fn F3) indicates my battery is healthy and performing normally, but charging is disabled and I don't see any obvious way to enable it.

Any suggestions v welcome  - this is frustrating!

INSPIRON 3147 power button and boot issue

$

I purchased an INSPIRON 3147 in June, 14. For the first few weeks I had this strange problem - when I i pressed on the power button, the light turned on and faded. I then wait for 10 secs. - the system didn't turn on. i did a press and hold instead, the light turned on and faded again, waited for another 10 secs - the system didn't turn on. on my 3rd press (power button), the system turns on.

If I then shut down the system. wait for 5 mins. and with just 1 press of the power button, the system turned on.  if i would leave the system off for a long time (overnight). i had a hard time turning the system on in the morning. It takes me 3 power button presses before the system would turn on. the weird part is, after the system turns on, i turn it off. then back on - in just one push of the power button the system would boot immediately! I guess I learned to live with it.

Fast forward - a couple of months later I replaced the HDD with a Crucial M500, 240 GB SSD. I had requested the Dell Windows 8.1 back up media and used that to create the OS on the new SSD. However this boot problem remained just the same, none better, none worse.

Now after 7-8 months the problem has become acute. When the laptop runs there are ZERO problems. I can shut down and easily reboot it. However if I leave it for at least 8 hours off, it is almost impossible to boot it again.

Few other points. a) No beep codes occur. No video related issues. Battery charges and holds charge fine.

I have tried numerous things to fix this, change power options setting in every possible way, upgraded BIOS to A03, remove Windows and create fresh install, alter boot settings, remove residual power by removing battery and cord and holding for 30 secs, remove hibernate/sleep and all related functions, hooking to external monitor etc, - every possible thing I could think off. Now it has gone dead. I might be able to bring it back to life by removing the battery and playing around with it, not sure. Also I have tried running multiple diagnostic tests within Windows and during boot (Fn + power button) but no errors are shown.

Another ? - If I need to send it back for warranty is that voided since I upgraded to SSD and don't have the original HDD anymore? Can I send it without the SSD since I don't want to loose the SSD in case Dell decides to switch the machine and send me another one? I have not replaced anything else.

Any suggestions?

Unknown Device USB\Unknown In Device Manager 14Z (N411Z)

I installed a new hard drive on my Niece's laptop Inspiron 14Z (N441Z) and did a clean install of Win 7 Home Premium.  I installed the Chipset drivers first and then started on the list displayed in the support area for this machine.  After completing all of the drivers install, my device manager looked like this:

The Unknown Device shows an ID USB\Unknown.  This machine has 1-USB2 and 2-USB3 ports.  If I run the Dell Diagnostics it shows that I have 1-1.1 USB ports, and 2-USB2 ports.  The 1.1 port appears to works since it will recognize flash drives etc.  This is also true of the of USB2 ports.  The other USB2 does not recognize anything except my Samsung Galaxy 4 phone.  But when it is unplugged I get a balloon on the task bar that says a USB device is not recognized. This will also occur when I first boot up the machine. It is like the machine is not recognizing the USB ports  If I run any of the hardware troubleshooters that Microsoft has it tells me that a driver is missing but when it tries and install, it reports that it fails.  I have spend hours researching this and tried everything people in forums  suggested.  I have undated my bios, all drivers, I have uninstalled drivers and then rebooted with no luck.

In one forum a person had a Dell (I think was 5130) that was having the same problem and found one driver for a small device on the Dell website that cured his problems, but I either have not found the "Silver Bullet"  to correct my problem, or I am overlooking one  simple item.  Can you give me any suggestions? Your help would be greatly appreciated

Hello,

I just bought new laptop Dell Inspiron 11z Touch, I like the laptop but my problem is touchpad.

When I close the lid of the laptop and reopen, touchpad is acting really weird - it is like much less sensitive, jumping from place to place, slow reaction, etc. When I restart pc, it will solve that problem until I close lid again.

I tried reinstalling drivers, updating windows, etc, but nothing helps.

I have windows 8.1

Thanks for help!

CPU remains at 99% - 100%

I have tried every resource optimization program on the Internet, but my Dell laptop still consumes way too many CPU resources and way too few memory resources.

I can no longer listen consistently to Pandora radio, because the laptop cannot supply the browser with enough continuous resources to make the music broadcast without chopping up.  Today I can listen to Pandora, but the laptop is using between 85% - 100% of CPU.

I have adjusted the CPU usage manually on Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer, where I limit those programs to just one of four available CPUs, but such fixes end as soon as I log off for the session.

When I did a system performance test on my laptop while sitting on the couch and the laptop on my lap and not connected to the docking station, then my overall system performance was 6.8 and processor speed was above a 7.0 rating.

Now the processor speed is rated as 1.8.

It is extremely frustrating to do every test to increase memory allocation, and still the laptop ignores the great majority of memory (85%) while goes overboard consuming CPU resources.

I do NOT have a virus on my computer.  I do have Microsoft Essentials malware protection.  It appears that file occasionally consumes a lot of CPU resources, but it is not consuming the most resources.  Internet Explorer is the program consuming the most resources, and if I switch to Firefox, then it is even worse.

Inspiron 17R boots occasionally

I have an Inspiron 17R that is 4 months out of warranty.  99% of the time when you hit the power button the power light comes on, the disk light comes on and you can hear it spin.  Then all you get is a beep that is almost a "click" every 2 seconds.  You have to hold the power button to actually power off again.  SOMETIMES you can hold the "D" down with power up and get the screen to go through the rainbow routine.  But on totally rare occasions it will boot and come up in Windows and you can login, etc and work normally.  I cannot pinpoint the sound because it actually sounds like it's coming from the speaker.

My question is does anyone know what might be the culprit?  And if not, what are some suggestions for diagnostics if it does ever come up again that does not require a restart?  Keep in mind, I get no Dell logo or POST diagnostics, so I can't go into setup or advanced diagnostics either.

Thanks for any help/suggestions.
