Hi, I have an annoying problem.

Sometimes my cursor changes into a shape that's not in the list of possible mouse pointers and I can't print screen it, because it's not in the image when I search it..

It looks like this: 2small white triangles with a white line in between. Sometimes they point left and right, and my pc starts scrolling sideways, and sometimes they point up and down and it starts scrolling downwards.

I updated a lot of drivers and restarted my pc. I scanned for virusses, but nothing could be found.

It happens with or without a mouse inserted. It's really annoying, because surfing on the internet becomes frustrating.

O yeah, that pc doctor from the dell site did not find anything either.

It's a relatively new inspiron laptop (less than a year) and I have this problem since the beginning.

Does anyone know how to solve this?

I have a dell Inspirion N5110 i7 . I get a continuous beep sound when the laptop starts . But it stop as soon as the windows starts . The pattern goes like 5 beeps then a little pause and then again 5 beeps then again a pause and then again 5 beeps . What could be the problem ???

Dear Support

I own a Dell Inspiron N5110 R15 notebook. (service code: <ADMIN NOTE: Service tag removed per privacy policy> ) 

As i figured out the network card speed is 10/100 Mbps. (i thought it is 10/100/1000)

I'd like to ask that it is possible to replace the I/O card with another one with gigabit speed?

(to the network card will 10/100/1000 insead of 10/100)

I bought a new Dell laptop last October, has Windows 7, and just this past week the USB ports stopped reading any USB device. I've tried multiple devices on this machine and nothing. They work on other machines. I've checked the device manager and all of the USB ports say they are working properly and all drivers are up to date. Is there anything I am missing? What else can I do to fix this?

Hello there,

I dont really belive that anyone is abble to help me fix this problem but ill give it a shot coz this is reallt weaird and annoying.

So i am using an docking station to my dell, it has 5 USB ports (3 on the left and 2 on the back).

Now i am using a logitech wireless mouse. Whenever i plug the usb mouse receiver to any of the left ports, it works just fine. If I use any of the 2 on the back, it lags as hell and it seem to get stuck in every procces action, like moving files over explorer etc.

But thats not the most anyoing thing im expiriencing...

I wanted to make my life esier, so i bought a mini-pcie usb adapter, this one: 

And i plugged my mouse receiver to it- it works great! BUT WAIT, only if laptop is not connected to the docking station! If it is, im getting the exact same problem as i would connect the mouse receiver to the back of the docking station...

I tried reinstalling the root usb hubs but it havent changed anything. This is weird as hell.

I would really aprichiate if someone could help me with this problem. rly.

Recently, my Inspiron N5050 notebook seems distressed. The fan used to cycle on and off normally.  All of a sudden it decided to run the fan at full speed from start up to shut down.  I keep it in a climate controlled room and it never feels unusually warm, especially upon start up.  I run Windows Update automatically, and I downloaded the latest BIOS from the Dell site (that is the extent of my troublshooting).  I've only had the computer since Aug 2012.  I only use it to surf the internet, watch Netflix and update my resume.  Not too demanding.

Any ideas? Please and thank you!

My computer switches off normally (cuts out no warning) when i am using movie maker. It also does it sometimes just watching windows media player. I have had this problem for around a year now and its getting worse. Once the computer has cut out it then turns on enough to get to the starting windows page and then cuts out. Or it decides to do a disk check, which it never manages because it cuts out half way through. It sometimes blue screens as well in this process and restarts normally followed by it cutting out. The only way to get it to work again is to give it 20 min and then turn it on and then it usually works. The computer is not remotely hot and sometimes when its first booted up in the morning i have the same problem with it cutting out at the windows loading screen therefore i dont think its a heat related problem however i could be wrong. Also the laptop says i need to replace the battery and again i dont know if this is the reasons it cuts out because when i remove the battery i still get all the same problems with it cutting out.

Just wondered if there was anyway of fixing this problem. The laptop is a inspiron 1750. I can provide other details however i dont know what else will be relavant.

When I open a window, such as this, or email or just an internet explorer window, and I start typing, it just exits the window and I have to click the mouse back in it

to be able to continue typing. Very frequent and very frustrating! What's wrong?????

My vostro has started powering down at the desktop screen about 20-30 sec after it has loaded for start up. Got to turn it back on and it only makes it to the welcome screen then powers down. Power it up again and it only makes it as far as there or the start up screen. fan doesn't come on at start up. there was now issues prior to this that I was aware of. I did do a bios update from A9 to A10 not long before this problem started.

Okay, so recently I got the laptop around last Christmas, but it was used, so the hard drive just blew basically. I was going to change it anyway, then it actually did end up frying. I bought a new Magnetic Data Technologies HDD 2 months back. (It's all been sitting around due to me being very busy, and I didn't really need my laptop for much, but I'm going to start needing it VERY soon) The new HDD wouldn't start, it had the PXE error and so on, which means it was trying to boot from a network, it wouldn't load my Windows 7 disk, a startup repair disk and so on due to it being a new hard drive. I'm not too sure if it came with a disk, I asked my parents and apparently it didn't, yet the pdf file for setting up the HDD says:

'B) Installing the new HDD as a “single HDD drive” configuration for your PC system. 1. Use the bootable disk to startup the PC system.'

This really annoyed me, as like I said, I recall getting any disk, and MDT's hard drives, I didn't know at the time, had quite a few bad reviews, they are just refurbs, and the site is horrible. This is the reason I'm not asking on there, I can't even tell if there is a forum or tech support. It looks so unprofessional, I had to fully zoom in to 350% or something to even be able to see something clearly, not much on the downloads list, and them saying bootable CD, why is there no ISO for the bootable CD in the downloads? It's just EZ-Disk which I can't even run because I'm running a 64-Bit OS, it mentions a download for 64-Bit, but there is only one link on the website, and that downloads the file straight away.

Now, to get to the point: Is there a bootable disk by DELL that comes up with this following menu:

I was not able to complete the full running of the Dell Direct USB Key solution because of various issues.  .    Dell ended up sending me a new Windows 7 imaged HDD drive.   I now have the laptop up and running again with Windows 7and have various applications installed.   That is all pretty good.  But now how do I get my data files restored?   Basically I want to connect the backup external drive and complete Step 19 of the solution as described below.

Here are the steps OS using the Dell USB key: 
1. Boot from the Direct USB Key by tapping F12 at the Dell logo, then select the 
USB Memory Key option from the boot device menu. 
2. Accept the Dell End User License Agreement (EULA) by clicking the box next to 
Accept, scroll down till the end of the license agreement and then click on 
continue. 
3. On this screen, the usb key gives an overview of the process it is about to 
perform, click continue when ready to proceed. 
4. The Smart Repair solution runs a surface scan on the system to identify any 
errors with the boot record or the startup files. If any errors are found, they 
are automatically corrected. 
5. Once the process completes, there will be an analysis summary, in this case, 
there is no issue found by the smart repair, click continue. 
6. In this window the user can select what data they would like to back up, they 
can either go with the default backup solution or they can click select more to 
select more files for backup, click continue after selecting files for backup. 
7. If user clicks on select more, they will get the screen below, they can go 
ahead and select the necessary data for backup by checking the box next to the 
respective folder, sub-directories are selected by default once the root folder 
is selected. 
8. The user will be prompted to attach a USB hard drive to the system, user 
needs to connect the USB Hard drive at this point and click continue. 
9. Once the solution detects the USB hard drive , it goes ahead with file 
backup. 
10. Once the files are backed up, the solution will back up the user personal 
settings. 
11. The Direct USB Key displays a summary of the data and personal settings 
backup. Click continue. 
12. The Direct USB key then proceeds to install the operating system image on 
the system. 
13. Once the operating system image is transferred, the drivers are also 
transferred. 
14. After the operating system image and driver transfer, a summary page comes 
up giving the user information as to what process was performed successfully and 
what failed. The user needs to remove the USB key at this point and click 
restart. 
15. The system restarts and comes to a flash screen on recovery and restore. 
16. After the flash screen, the applications start installing. 
17. Once the applications are installed, the user would see a summary screen 
informing them that the Operating system has been restored, connect the Direct 
USB Key and click restart. 
18. After the restart the user will be prompted to connect the data backup hard 
drive and then click continue. 19. The files and personal settings are then restored from the USB backup drive.
20. After the files are transferred the system comes to the desktop with a pop 
up window informing the user to check the device manager for any exclamation 
marks, the tool also guides the user to download the drivers from the support 
site and the applications from My Dell Downloads and Dell Digital Delivery. User 
needs to select the check box to prevent the message from being displayed again 
and click close.

Hello folks!

I have a dell latitude d 830 laptop that dont turns on at all on AC power, pressing the on/off button results in an instantaneous power led blink for a while then nothing happens. Pressing the on/off button for a long time results in a simultaneous blink of caps lock & other grouped leds only. Charger is working too,  Plz help me !

I got a dell inspiron 14z n411 and first my laptop was  working great and then the ligth of my laptop start flashing a organge lightand then the battery says plug in not charging then i turn of my computer and it says that this battery is not recommend stike F1 to continued , F2 to set up  and then i press F2 there is password hint but i don't put any password there what can i do solve my problem

It's glowing a pale orange and just started to do it. I turn it off and it glows a darker orange then it is now. This has never happened before...? Please help I'm worried lol. Don't know what model it's a dell inspiron intel core i5 windows 7 don't know if that helps?? HELP MEH please...

I have a Dell Inspiron... Well literally I was on my laptop an hour ago and spilt a little water on the keyboard. I cleaned it off and it was fine. Well then the "a" key stopped working and I thought it was the water but there was barely any that got on the keys. Then another key started acting up so I turned it off. When I clicked the power button again, it asked for my password and I typed it in then the screen just want blank. The light is in but the screen is just black. I've tried the whole unplugging the charger and taking out the battery and holding the power button for 30 seconds but that didnt work. It hasn't beeped, the power light just stays on. If I click the power button the light goes on/off right away. That has never happened before. I really need this laptop screen to turn on for school. Any suggestions?

So I did a fresh install of windows 7 onto my m17x r4, downloaded all the drivers and then did fn+f7 to switch to my amd 7970m GPU. I restarted and everything worked, but then when is shut my laptop off and came back 2 hours later and turned it on, everything lit up but there was a BLACK SCREEN and there were 8 BEEPS. Can someone please help me? I got this laptop on April the 30th and now this is happening to me...

Hey Guys, I see on these forums that this model is prone to fan issues. Does anyone know what needs replacing to fix fan running constant 100% all the time. I know it's not software, as I ran the diagnostics on the system fan & these were the faults that have now come up:

Error code 3700:011B (Msg processor fan) the fan speed is incorrect, also was not registering fan rpm

Error Code 3900:0626 (ambient thermistor) temp sensor is out of range at 0 deg C

Now the cpu is not getting hot & it just blows cold air out so no issue there. To fix these errors do I need to replace board? or fan? or both? or is temp sensor on cpu?

I do like this laptop except for this issue that started 2 days ago, any help appreciated.

Tried Bios A10,11 & 12 no diff.

My laptop recently started showing AC adapter can not be determined and has now slowed down my pc usage once again. This has happened before but it somehow magically fixed itself. In the bios it used to show 90w adapter but would not charge. Now it shows as unknown and I'm thinking the problem could be the DC jack? The chargers work fine on a different dell laptop I have, they charge that battery and have there status of 90w adapter in the bios. Now I'm wondering where to purchase one of these from dell if it even is this problem, as i am out of warranty of my laptop. I'm capable of changing it myself as i have regular experience of cleaning the fan and changing the thermal paste on my CPU.

Just a side note also, when this problem is resolved should i purchase a 130w Adapter? Will the laptop draw the extra power and make it faster? As i remember the issues of my laptop randomly shutting down and throttling from the previous bios settings and just thinking of getting one to see.
