HELLO DELL

MY DELL INSPIRION 14 GIVES ERROR MESSAGE OF DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION ON A COMPLETELY BLUE BACKGROUND BARELY 5 - 10 MINUTES OF USING IT; AND THAT THE SYSTEM WILL BE RESTARTED. IT COUNTS FROM 0 - 100% AND REMAINS UNCHANGED UNTIL I PUT IT OFF FROM THE POWER BUTTON. WHENEVER I TRY USING IT, IT TAKES LESS THAN 8 MINUTES AND THE SAME ISSUE REOCCURS. I HAVE SINCE NOT BEEN ABLE TO USE MY PC. THIS IS THE SECOND SERIOUS ISSUE I AM HAVING IN A SPACE OF LESS THAN 3 MONTHS. WHAT DO I DO?

Problems with Start Up Black Screen No Boot

Dell Inspiron 7720 (17R SE) approx 2 years old, just started having problems about a week ago when turning on the computer. LEDs flash and dell quickset buttons light up; but then process just dies, screen is black and only the LEDs by the power symbol and on power buttons are lit, never reaches the Dell logo screen, no fan sounds or anything.

At first, hitting the power button to turn off then back on and the second time the boot process would work. Then it failed to do that, so I had to remove the battery, pull the power cord and hold the power button down for 30 sec's, and then it would boot normal. Now even that does not work, just have to keep powering down and re-powering and after a random number of times, 10-30 it finally boots normal, every once in while it will work first try. It seems to be getting worse. 

I have used the Dell Diagnostic on boot (though it took many tries to get into the ePSA, that did not detect any problems. When I use the Dell Support Advanced, no problems detected, and I specifically rand the Motherboard (which included CMOS test) and those did not find any problems.

If I put the computer in sleep, it comes back fine. It is only when I shut down, laptop just will not boot until I hit power on (fail) / power off repeatedly until finally, as if by luck it works fine.

Dell Inspiron 17R laptop, close to 2 years old.

For a couple of months, the laptop refuses to boot when turning it on. Screens stays completely black, never reaches the Dell-logo. The power-LED burns normally, CPU lights up for a few seconds, then dies out. I hear the fans starting and I think the hard disk starts as well.

The speakers start making an intermittent beeping sound, short beep every +- 3 seconds.

At this point, I have to interrupt the proces, and restart. Occasionally, the computer does start normally (around 10-30 times trying). In the beginning, this took only a few times trying, but it's getting worse.

When the computer comes back from sleep, it doesn't have any problems, only when it's (re)started, or coming from hibernation (deep sleep).

XPS Coil Whine

My new XPS 13 9343-2727SLV from the Microsoft Store does NOT have coil whine issues. I had previously purchased an XPS 13 4289 that did suffer from coil whine. I returned that system but really liked the form factor and overall build quality of the XPS line. I was willing to risk another XPS system especially with the new 'infinity' display. So far the system is really nice, the infinity screen is awesome with the smallest bezel I've ever seen. The system has aluminum top and bottom, instead of carbon bottom. Also has less RAM than the 4289 but I can still run Visual Studio 2013 and SQL Server 2014 with great performance. I'd definitely recommend the new XPS 13 system, just be sure it's the new one. Maybe the aluminum bottom affords a better ground plane, I don't know but it's really one of the nicest laptops I've owned. The XPS replaces an HP Envy (never liked the keyboard) and I also own an MSI GS70. I had considered the Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro and X1 Carbon but the XPS has better battery life.

Hi,


I need to replace the RAM on my XPS.  It no longer boots and just beeps (4 times) continously.  Which I believe indicates a RAM issue (Either it not being seated properly or it needs replacing).  Is there a guide on how to do this?

Pc has a virus

Hello, I have a Inspiron N5040 and it has a virus.  When I was able to use it I didn't have any virus protection of any kind (dumb, yes I know now), lesson learned.  Did some research and a lot of people say start in safe mode, the problem with that is I can't get pass the loading windows files screen.  The bottom of the screen says "please wait".   What should I do?

Hi,

as many already posted, I also have some crazy issues with my Precision M6500 (late 2009). Basically its display goes black and the machine does not respond to anything. While typing these words, my PC is using some funny screen resolution (like 800x600) and my Device Manager says "NVIDIA Quadro FX3800 has stopped because it has reported problems. (Code 43) ". The PC was working quite well for last 5 years. In December 2014 I finally cleaned its fans and vents... reinstalled Windows, performed all available firmware updates (including BIOS - now it's A10)... and it worked very well for like ...10 days! Now, it is almost impossible to use this machine... it doesn't look like it would overheat or something ... but the display turns black all of a sudden and the only option is to force it to shut down by pressing and holding its power button for a while.

MODEL: DELL INSPIRON N5010.

ITS HAS BEEN 4 YEARS AFTER PURCHASING.

RECENTLY WHEN I TURNED IT ON (AFTER I WAS BROWSING AND IT WENT OFF), IT WAS BEEPING.. PRECISELY SETS OF 8 BEEPS..

REMOVED THE SCREWS AND CLEANED ALL THE DUST , REMOVED THE CABLES AND RECONNECTED IT AGAIN, BUT STILL THE PROBLEM PERSISTED.( I HAVE REPLACED THE CABLES)

ALSO TRIED TO CONNECT IT TO AN EXTERNAL MONITOR (PRESS FN+F1).. NO DISPLAY IN EXTERNAL MONITOR TOO...I HAVE TRIED CONNECTING A DIFFERENT LAPTOP SCREEN.... SAME ISSUE.

THE CPU FANS ARE WORKING .. BUT NO DISPLAY..

NOTHING HELP UNTIL TODAY WHEN  I CHANGE THE MOTHERBOARD AND AFTER 1-3 HOURS OF WORKING IT WENT OFF AGAIN WHILE I WAS BROWSING. ...... PLEASE HELP GUYS/DELL.....REALLY ANNOYING ISSUE!!!!

Dell M5030 Beep Error

I purchased another Dell product in 2012 but use it so infrequently it's still relatively new in usage terms.


It worked just fine yesterday, but when I tried to turn it on today, I get 7 audio beeps and a black screen.


Using my desktop, I've searched on Dell and Google about the problem and it seems to be an overheating processor problem and also seems to be a well known defect that some people have gotten Dell to replace the motherboard even if the product is out of warranty.

Who do I speak with at Dell to have my problem fixed? I've never owned anything but a Dell and have purchased many of them over the years and never had a warranty claim on any of them so all this is new to me.

Hey everyone! Hopefully someone can help me. I've been having this problem for maybe 2 months now where my laptop would shutdown randomly and give me a real time clock error. I googled around and found that replacing the cmos battery would fix the problem. I tried it out but still i am getting this problem. Any ideas?

keys on keyboard not workin after windows 8.1 update

My g and h keys stopped working after a Windows 8.1 update occurred on my Inspiron 15R-5521. I didn't even want te update--but could not stop it.

Any ideas on a fix? I have tried updatin BIOS drivers, input drivers, and altering keyboard functions in control panel.

A little desperate as I start an online course tomorrow.

What is going on with updating the Bios with Dell laptops? I have a Dell M4500 precision laptop. I'm running Windows 7 pro 64 bit an I7 quad processor and 8 gigs of memory. I can't update the bios past V 07. When I looked through the support  posts I found people asking the same question and when I did a search I found over 300.000 hits for the same problem many Dell laptops.  What I have NOT found is Dell addressing the problem.  Is it the update engine it's self or a problem with the computers?  I installed all the patches and all the updates for my computer except the Bios.

A few days ago I was using my laptop when the notification that I had to plug in the charger or my computer battery would die popped up. So I plugged it in and used it for a few minutes when suddenly the screen went black and the computer just shut off while plugged in. I noticed that my charging cord had a green light when it was plugged into the wall but the light went off as soon as it connected to my laptop. I've tried letting it charge, I've tried holding down the power button, I've tried removing the battery and plugging it back in, and I've tried a newer charging cord but the computer still won't turn on. No lights come on even when it is plugged into the wall. Please help, I don't know what's wrong with it.

Can i replace a normal keyboard on Dell Inspiron 15 (5547) with a backlit one? Cheers

Warranty Ownership Transfer Issues Dell Alienware M18x-R2

My nVIDIA GTX675M GPU has failed and the laptop will not boot into safe mode or normal mode. But that's not the issue. I can't even get past the Warranty wall.

I called Dell about a week ago and the phone rep asks me for the original owners information and i got this a few days later as requested. I was sure we did the Ownership transfer when i bought the laptop last last year but i never got a confirmation from Dell.

Now today i have this information from the buyer and call again and a Dell representative asks for the Invoice. Now i don't know if the original owner still have this and if it was me i would not have held onto it because i would assume the service tag replaces the need to keep paperwork for 1-5 years. I am disorganized and the less paper work i hoard for years the better.

I have never had any issues with Dell warranty in the past and I am very disappointed that they cannot assist in the warranty transfer or make it easy for the end user. I do work for a Mid sized business with Dell products (ranging from servers to laptops) and never had any issues on the business side of warranty's. That's is one of the reasons i picked up a Dell Alienware laptop in the 1st place. 

It feels like Dell are tying to block the warranty by requesting more and more details and its extremely frustrating.

Could a Dell Rep please assist in transferring the warranty as my numerous attempts have not been acknowledged.

I have the Original Owners details. Name, Phone, Address and Email. I also have the original box so i can take a photo of the SN or packing details.

I will contact the original owner and ask for the Invoice but i would be surprised if he still had it given that's he sold the laptop. He has already been very helpful and i don't want to annoy him more then I should. Just looking dell email the invoice so it might be easier then expected but at the end of the day jumping through all these hoops to get a product repairs is no leaving me with the best feeling towards dell.
