I have a dell inspiron 3542.It already came pre installed with windows 8.0 but i had recently formatted it with windows 7 ultimate x64 and when i try to install the USB 3.0 drivers available from dell.com,it shows the computer doesn't meet the minimum requirement for installing the software.

Dell Inspiron 910 BIOS Password Issue
I used the jumper on the internal battery to clear my mini and now the BIOS password is different. I did know it before hand but now I'm sure it's back to factory. Unfortunately I can't figure out how to get the password. I called dell support and they COULD give me the password. But I'm not the registered owner and I don't know who is because I got the mini from a friend. Who got it from a friend and so on down the line. Who knows how many people this mini has been through before me? It so confusing and frustrating. I've tried everything I've found on the Internet and had no luck. Can anyone tell me how to fix this so that I open it up?

USB 3.0 live boot on Dell Inspiron 7520
Hi all,
I have a problem with live boot with USB 3.0 flash drive on my Dell Inspiron 7520. I already have one USB flash 2.0 (Philips) and with this it's no problem, when I go into boot manager it's recognized by BIOS as USB and I can boot from it. But when I do the same with USB 3.0 flash drive it's recognized as "Diskette Drive" and when I try to boot from it it got stuck and freeze on the very start.
I'm using Universal USB Installer 1.9.5.8 to create bootable flash and USB 3.0 flash is Kingston DataTraveler 100 G3 and BIOS version is A11 (latest one)
I've tried to boot on different laptop (Lenovo Thinkpad) the that Kingston stick and it was working without single problem. Also I tried to use different live distributions, different installers, I tried to switch in BOOT options from Legacy to UEFI but no effect, still the same ... On 7520 there is no USB 2.0 port so I had to plug it into 3.0 ...
Any idea would be appreciated

Laptop Charging Issues
Hello,
Well i have been facing this problem for the past few days, My laptop does not charge it and occasionally does after twisting the cord a little. I don't know if the problem is the adapter or the charger itself. The laptop is relatively new, it is the new Dell xps 15. The charging port doesn't seem broken or wiggles around, however i am not sure. I am terribly confused any suggestions would be a great help.

Dell Studio 1558 does not boot and battery status light keeps on blinking when power button is pressed
Hi!
I have a Dell Studio 1558 laptop which is currently four years old and out of warranty.
Currently, with or without the battery with AC adapter connected when I press the power button, the power light does not light up but the battery status light keeps on blinking until the power button is pressed. I don't see any boot up screen or hear any sound of CPU fan running in the mean time. Basically, it does not start at all.
I recently got new dell authorized battery as a replacement for laptop fearing that could be source of problem. However, the new battery does no good. I checked the battery health and status and its fine.
Before this issue the laptop would start and immediately on boot screen it would shut down. So, I got it fixed from a repair service center who cleaned up the clogged cpu fan. It worked fine for two days and then the issue resurfaced.
Now, it does not start at all. I even checked with another adapter and also changed the CMOS battery (as date and time kept changing on every boot) but the issue still remains.
Also tried removing and reconnecting the RAMs one after another and then trying to boot.
Also tried draining the static charge if any after removing the battery and adapter and then holding the power button for 50 seconds. Reconnecting with ac adapter with or without battery then also does not start the system.
Any idea on how to proceed.

laptop and monitor - native resolution mismatch
Regarding the following new products:
Dell XPS 13
UltraHD 4K monitor ( 24 inch , 27 )
what to make of the respective native resolutions:
WQXGA+ (3200x1800) -> laptop
UHD 4K (3840x2160) -> monitors
Does this lead to a pixel scaling issue? or
Why isn't there a monitor ( not exactly UHD 4K ) with a native resolution matching the XPS and the other , new ultrabooks that output the display at (3200x1800)?
The scaling ratio's ( H x W ) both appear to be a nice 1.2 but wont that pixel scaling lead to some disappointment with the resulting output on the monitor?

Inspiron 7000 crashing when coming out of hibernation
My 2013 Inspiron tended to come out of hibernation either quite slowly , taking 20 to 30 seconds to get to the log-in screen, or crash altogether (not every time, but every 2 or 3 wake-ups) which required a hardware reboot.. After doing some research, I found some information. It appears there may be some conflict between BIOS settings and Windows (8.1 in my case).
I checked BIOS settings and the only thing I found was that Intel's Rapid Start Technology was enabled. So I turned it off and rebooted. Turns out, the Rapid Start actually delayed the boot process: my computer boots MUCH faster now (about half the time from before) in the full boot process, it comes out of hibernation almost instantaneously (as I would expect from a system with i7 processor, 16 GB Ram and SSD) and it has not yet crashed when coming out hibernation.

Dell m6600 original AC adapter as unknown
Hi,
I have problem with my dell.
BIOS shows me unknown adapter and after that do not charge battery.
I tested my adapter with another dell and worked normal. But when i plug another adapter to my dell shows unknown.
Do you have some solution? Like conect some pins on MB together?

Laptop auto shut down
laptop shut downs after some time. Assuming heating issue gave it to laptop store. After getting back same problem continues. Again when approached laptop store they changed diagnosis to Intel chip set problem . Please help me to determine the problem. Laptop heats up and the fan spins at variable speed. Laptop shut downs due to overheating .

M6500: Visual outaput to external monitor off-center
Workstation: M6500. Its own matrix is broken absent; data cable unpluggrd. VideoCard FirePro 7820. Trying to connect throught VGA to external monitor - output off-ceneter. The card driver shows correct resolution for external matrix - 1600 х 1200 @ 60Hz, but picted is scaled and shifted. Any ways to resolve? Thanks.

Battery Draining fast - Inspiron N 5110
My laptop (Dell Inspiron N 5110) battery goes down fast after installing/updating Operating system to Windows 10 Technical Preview, battery was working fine on windows 8/8.1 before installation of windows 10 technical preview.

Dell Inspiron n5110 physical memory dump "blue screen" error
Every time I start my laptop Inspiron n5110, it goes to the blue error screen where it says 'collecting data for crash dump'. It usually happens in under a minute after starting the laptop. Once the screen shows I have to force restart by pressing the power key for few seconds.
Can anyone help me with this problem, please?

Help with startup
I have a inspiron n5050 which recently discovered gravity aka fell down. Now when I restart the laptop it take FOR....EV......ER. It also never allows me to even select a user to log on. I ran a pre-boot assessment and it says it does not recognize a hard drive. I have taken apart and reassembled just to ensure nothing came loose and same problem. If I do decide to just buy a new hard drive will the 2 disks that came with the laptop be all I need re-install windows, etc. I get error code 2000-0142. Validation 6380 status 7. Please help.

Installing an N edition of Windows 8 - Windows 8.1 N on Inspiron laptops
For Dell laptops with Windows 8 or 8.1 pre-installed (especially the Inspiron 17 7000 series)
Has anyone tried installing an N edition of Windows 8 or 8.1 on their Dell laptop? The Dell Windows 8.1 SLP product key allows for a clean install and activation of a standard Win 8.1 - but how about a Windows 8.1 N edition?
Has anyone tested the N edition of Windows?
Windows 8.1 N is identical to Windows 8.1, but it has less bundled bloatware (thanks to EU courts).
If you're interested, you can create a Windows 8.1 N installation DVD or USB drive using the following Microsoft tool:

Of course, you'll still need a valid license and key to activate it.

Accessing secondary display adapter without running it.
Basic issue, haven't seen any resolutions out there so I figured I'd go to the source. I am running an Alienware 17 with a AMD HD8970 and an AMD Radeon R9 290X. Here's the issue, the 8970 works fine but unfortunately, the 290 is running on a corrupted driver. This is easy to fix as it would mean just downloading a fresh driver but I cannot do this while the 290 is running as it is completely unusable (heavy flickering, almost looks like a damaged LCD but the LCD is fine).
So, I know this makes me sound like a bit of a scrub but how can I download a driver for a display adapter that, as far as the device manager is concerned, is nonexistent as long as it's not the primary card?
Just to clarify, I am not asking how to change display adapters, install an adapter, or how to update a primary adapter. I need to update a secondary adapter while the primary is still running. Really hoping I don't have to run this through the bios but if it can't be helped, a quick tutorial would be awesome as I haven't had to edit a bios since 2005.

XPS 15 problems
I bought this XPS15 laptop because of many reasons but one was for the bluetooth 4, as i like to use bluetooth headphones and speakers with my pc. To my disgust after connecting my bluetooth speaker and turning on some tunes I went to move the speaker about 4ft away and it drops out, I move it back near laptop and it works. I tried this with several bluetooth gadgets and same thing. As soon as i get any further away than 1ft it loses signal. Now if this is the case whats the point of having bluetooth on this laptop. Needless to say I'm not happy with this at all...

Forcing replacement of corrupt current BIOS
Thanks for your time in reading this :-)
I'd like to replace the BIOS of a VOSTRO 1720 laptop, it is the latest A08 but I think it may be somehow corrupt because I'm seeing issues (i.e. not being able to boot from CD neither placing it first in the list with F2 nor by selecting it with F!2... some occasional freezes also)
The problem is that when flashing the BIOS it is not replaced 'cause I get a message that it already is the current one.
Any hints or suggestions on forcing the replacement of the BIOS even if already the current one?
