Just got my Inspiron 5748. Requested a backlit keyboard. Didn't get one even though i was told i had to buy the 17" in order to get the backlit keyboard. I also requested Microsoft Word which is not installed. I guess that i have to download the software from the internet which i do not have access to on a regular basis. I am not sure why it is assumed that everyone has access to the internet. I do not on a regular basis. Not a happy first time Dell customer.

My laptop is a Dell vostro model 3460-2121. When disassembly for cleaning the cooling system I broke the latch lock of the connector for the keyboard on the system board. Now ribbon (flexible wire) cable does not contact all well and some keys do not work.
I am interested in what is the exact model of the connector? I want to buy a new connector to transfer lock.

I recently purchased a New Dell Inspiron 15 7000 model (7547) but am issues with the touchpad. I did some digging and found that it has the Elantech drivers installed on it. But the problem is it doesnt recognize any of the gestures that come with the Elantech touchpad. I checked the device manager and there's only a 'HID compliant mouse' driver on it which is dated 2006. Driver update just gives me a msg saying that the driver is up to date. When I contacted Dell about it, they found out that the touch is not from Elantech, but from Synaptics and that they have the wrong drivers installed on this model. Problem is, they can't uninstall these drivers and install the new synaptics drivers. I gave it a try when they failed and was able to install the synaptiics drivers by disabling driver verification. Problem is, the system still defaults to the 'HID compliant mouse' drivers. Is there any way to set this right? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

So I'm having this massive bug with the dell touchpad.
The left and right click are not working. I went over to touchpad settings, and made the left and right click button configure to "double click", and it worked. It was able to doubleclick whenever I clicked it. However, when I set it back to "click", it stopped working again (the buttons, that is). Everything else works fine.
Any help would be appreciated.

I have notebook Inspiron 15z and on 500GB HDD I have Ubuntu and I want Win8.1 on 32GB SSD disk. But it doesn't work. When I chose SSD disk to install Win on it, it tell me that there can't be install system. I have already change SATA Operation in BIOS to ATA or AHCI, but nothing work.

ok so my dell 5521 is giving me a plugged in but not charging issue. was working fine. unplugged with fully charged battery. updated my intel graphics driver. when I got a low battery warning I plugged it in. That was the first time I got the notice of plugged in but not charging. uninstalled the graphics driver update, still not charging. replaced both the battery and the a/c adapter. still not charging. updated bios. still not charging. ran complete epsa diagnostics. all systems checked out good. still not charging. in bios unplugged it shows unplugged. plugged in shows as "unknown". During epsa diagnostic it shows as 255 MHz I believe. tried reverting back to last known working point. still not charging. battery health is 100% on new battery and 75% on oldest. tried refreshing computer. still not charging. tried blowing in charging port. nope. tried plugging in without battery. closing lid, putting battery in, opening. nope. just keep getting the Quickset notice of unrecognized charger. will not charge. ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS? Please help.

I have a Dell inspiron n4010 that will not power on, the battery light flashes on for a couple of seconds when I plug the AC power adapter in, and then switches off. The laptop does not respond when I try to power it on.
I have tried unplugging the AC power adapter, holding the power button down for 20 seconds and plugging it back in - that did not do the trick either. Please help.

usually use my laptop to play counterstrike global offensive . the first few days that I bought gave no problems and everything was fine ; then over time the fan started to make more and more noise . I tried to remove the dust and then things have improved slightly , but not so much. I can not understand why everything . I would also ask because my laptop has 2 fans and when I stress the pc it works only one .
the indication of Plugged in Not charging appears and actually the device is not being charged and discharges power out at last on my Venue 7. Would you please let me know if you know the cause of this? I'm not sure under what situation this problem is happening. sometime it happens and sometime it doesnt happen. I tried many kind of charger. but this happened with whatever charger. Thank you.
I own a Dell Inspiron 3521, and I'd been having an issue with apps not opening and closing when I do try. I went to fix this error. That's when I made a grave mistake. Somewhere along the line of me trying to fix it, I messed with something I shouldn't have and when I finished with my task, I was told to restart the computer to activate the settings. After I turned it back on it seemed normal up to the point after I saw the dell logo. It went black. At first I made the assumption that since I changed settings that it was still trying to configure them. But soon after, I saw my mouse and a little signal flash in the bottom left of my screen. So I checked around and found out that I needed to reinstall windows with disc or USB. But I don't have access to either of those. Is there someway I can fix this without needing to do so?

Seeing I just got this new Precision M6800, I wonder if Dell will provide a BIOS update to allow for Broadwell, the CPU is socketed and from what I can tell the QM87 chipset will work with Broadwell, RAM also is compatible.
The power also should be less than Haswell so the cooling solution should be able to handle full load with processor.
This is assuming Intel provides a socket version, the TDP is less so there really should be no problems with power given the newer CPU uses less than Haswell.
Anyone from Dell able to chime in if a BIOS upgrade is needed? If so, would Dell offer that in this case given the compatible options?

I owned a dell xps 13 Laptop. A month ago, I put laptop in servicing center and after all I waited for such long, they confirmed that, motheboard has to be replaced with new and we can't assure that how long time it gonna take for the square part to be receive due to the new FDI norms started in Indian government. And imports are getting delayed due to this.
The guy suggested to use the online source to check the avlability of the Square part. Please help me out here

My Dell Vostro 2520 Touchpad Left and Right buttons are not working.
the left button became little bit harder to press so I tried to make it easy with a knife and since then both the buttons are not working. What went wrong? In Toronto , is there there any dell hardware store or place that can replace/fix this issue? how much it would cost ?
