I got a second hand Dell Inspiron 1525 about 2 years ago, it was working fine till the hard drive stopped workinga few months ago. i got a new hard drive and put that in and loaded software and Vista OS.
Now thewireless card won't recognize the adapter.
I have tried all different ways and adapters and it still won't work.
Can any one help please

My dell Vsotro 3360 will no longer boot up. It gives a 2 beep error on start up and nothering comes on the screen.

Sad to say I just got my new Inspiron 17 to discover an unacceptable problem. When scrolling via two fingers, the touchpad will often interpret the next action to continue scrolling even though I am only using one finger to point the cursor. It doesn't matter how long I remove my fingers from the touchpad, the touchpad seems to "lock in" the next gesture as a scrolling action. I have to lift and reapply my finger a second time before I'm able to use the cursor.
I've been through all the settings, both the ones in Windows and the one in the taskbar called Dell Touchpad. There is no setting I can find to help fix this problem, and I've tried all the available settings just in case. Nothing helps.
But I just can't bring myself to believe this was an intended feature of this touchpad...
This all may sound like a small problem but it's actually a huge inconvenience. If it can't be solved, I'll be returning my laptop and, as this is the second consecutive Dell I've had strange problems with, it will sadly be my last. Thank you for any help.

One of my colleague laptop was not turning ON, so we tried removing the battery and charged again, it was getting charged but dint switched ON. We went to repair shop and he said that the IO is not working , we need to replace the same. He did it and Now its working fine.
I just want to know what exactly the issue, whether issue is with the IO ports or the Power thing?

I just bought an SSD for my Insiron 3737 along with a caddy so I can replace the CD-RW with a 2nd hard drive. The laptop came by default with a WD 1TB hard drive which I removed and replaced with the new Intel SSD, the WD drive took the place of the CD-RW.
At first I had trouble booting when the WD drive was connected since that one had Windows installed on it as well. After formatting the WD drive I can now boot but a new problem occurs. Windows sees the WD drive a healthy, ready to use drive for a few seconds or minutes after booting and then the hard drive simply vanishes from Disk Management.
I checked the caddy even took it back to where I bought it from so they can check if it's faulty but it seems that's not the problem.
Does anyone have any idea why the WD drive isn't recognized?
Any help will be much appreciated.

Hi everyone, I currently own a Dell 7520 15R SE with Dual graphics, I have taken the laptop apart, wiped thermal compound, then cleaned/prepared applied MX4, and now speedfan is displaying all ticks and down arrows when gpu not is in use, when Photoshop is open then the gpu kicks in and starts displaying temps
The laptop powers 2 1080P screens via HDMI and VGA, it will remain silent, however sometimes the fan when applications are open however air being expelled is cool, if i unplug one screen the fan then goes off/ultra low speed.
Summary
CLEANED laptop, NEW thermal paste, runs silent/acceptable quite when 1 screen in use,
goes crazy on 2 screens when apps are open, despite low temps and cold air?
This laptops prevous issues were getting both GPUs to work once upgrading to win8 and 8.1, they are now solved, and bios etc is all latest

I have had my XPS 15Z i7 for 3 years now. The battery will not charge unless I remove it, plug the laptop in, turn it on without the battery, turn it off and re-install the battery. The battery will then re charge fully and maintain it's charge until I use the laptop off the wall plug. When the battery has drained to any condition less than full, it will no longer re charge unless I remove it and do the same process all over again. I purchased a new OEM Dell battery with the same result.
Also, The chrome trim ring has broken. I have removed it completely after cutting my finger on it reaching into my laptop bag. I need a replacement. Please advise. Please email me for my service tag.
Hi there, having issues with my Dell Latitude E5440. The BIOS does not recognise it, I tested the HD with a external caddy and it works fine. I messed a lot with BIOS thinking it could be a settings but had no luck.

Got my wife this Dell laptop for christmas-very nice computer, But the screen is so highly reflective it's difficult to see text/letters/messages. We've tried the high contrast settings which get you an almost black background which she doesn't like. Anyone have experience with this or suggestions? I was thinking of buying an anti-glare film for it-has anyone tried that? Any help would be appreciated. You have a Great Forum here, particularly with Chris's advice which I already had the pleasure of using on a seperate monitor issue!

I have a Precision M4800 that has its USB ports stop working in two cases so far. First, if I use the card reader at all, it works to access files, but then when I try to eject the card, it shows neither an error nor the "safe to remove" message. the card stays in the list of drives even after it's unplugged. If another USB drive is plugged in after this, it isn't recognized. The second case is after using an external USB 3.0 drive for a while, it can stop working. The drive shows up in the list of drives, but all the directories appear empty. Unplugging doesn't remove the drive, and new drives aren't recognized. Once this happens, shutting down the machine crashes after a few minutes with DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE in either USBSTOR.sys or O2FJ2w7x64.sys. Could this be a hardware problem? It seems like the USB controller is locking up and the other drivers are getting blamed.

I've owned my Dell XPS L502x for over 3 year (thus, I am out of my warranty period) and recently it has stopped being able to charge. I am completely tethered to the AC power adapter to use it as I'm on 0% battery and have an inability to charge it. I am on windows 8.
As well as my inability to charge the laptop, I have noticed the following things:
The battery meter states that 'system cannot communicate with the battery ' when I hover over the battery icon in the task bar.
4 orange and 1 white lights are flashing on the battery indicator above my charging port and above my keyboard, when the charger is plugged in.
I had the same problem last year and as my battery was about 2 years old at that time so i replaced it in September 2013 and the problem was solved.
Now as this battery is only 15 months old i am not sure if the problem is with battery or the AC adapter?
I do not have any other battery or adapter to check it.
Any help or suggestion on that ??

bought this back in April 2014, computer turns on but wont go to windows, stuck on a Dell screen, press ctrl alt delete 2 option F2 or F12, almost as if windows is no longer installed, wifes computer, not sure if she picked up a virus, computer was working fine till the other day now nothing, anyone can help?

I recently upgraded my Dell Inspiron 15z (5523) to the Windows 10 Technical Preview, and now, when wanting to revert back to the original OS (Windows 8), I have realised that Windows 10 deleted my recovery partitions.
Is it possible to get the recovery image/media for my laptop in the UK? I have found the US/Canada site, but there does not appear to be one for UK residents.
I've tried the refresh & the 'remove and reinstall' facilities, but they don't work for Windows 10.

I recently had a motherboard problems and ordered a replacement[eBay]. And while the replacement works it has three main issues. First, there is an unknown item in the device manager. Windows update has nothing. Second, when I plug the service tag listed in the BIOS <Admin Note:service tag removed per privacy policy~RK> into Dell's support, it finds nothing. Third, the BIOS revision number[X42 instead of A**] doesn't seem to be found anywhere. Even Google drew a blank.
When I attempt to force a BIOS flash[ m4500a15.exe /f /s /l="c:\log.txt" ], it fails to do so and without giving an error code.
I'm new to the forums, but not to working on Dell system's having previously worked for Dell in the Small Business & Enterprise support division. I've seen a ton of squirrelly issues over that time, but this has me stumped. Anyone got any idea's?
I recently got a Latitude D510 from a friend, he says it wont turn off unless you hold down the power button, I tried turning it off by the start menu selection (windows 7 home premium sp1)
And it starts turning off. Then a Blue screen pops up for at least 30 seconds and then it restarts.

The laptop will not recognize my Dell bluetooth mouse. I noticed that there are new drivers available so decided to try installing those. Unfortunately during installation it asks to switch the bluetooth on. Well, to the best of my knowledge there is no switch other that the airline on and off. Bluetooth is running when it asks for this and I cannot get it to go any further. Suggestions?
What has driven me to the bluettoth mouse is the fact that the touchpad will not work, I have updated the drivers and it still does not work. The only portion of the pad that does anything is the lower portion that represents the left and right buttons. I have owned many laptops and have never seen a touchpad so bad. any thoughts?
I bought an Inspirion 15R for my daughter last Christmas. It shipped on 11/30/14. I did not purchase an extended warranty. Why should you? A laptop should last longer then a year right? She took great care of this thing and it doesn't have a lot of hours on it.
Long story short, last week the LCD would not come on. Same problem she had a few months ago. When she called she was told there was no warranty, thank you, good bye. I called today to get an extended warranty for just the hardware for one year. You'd think maybe $39.99 or something right? WRONG! $160.00? Are you kidding me? What kind of place is this? What kind of company sells lap tops that <profanity> out right when the warranty expires? I will NEVER purchase a Dell again and I'll get everywhere I can with this story. Thanks for your piece of <profanity> machine Dell.
