had my laptop about 2 and a half years now all going fine until a few days ago- when i startup the wifi connection takes about half an hour to recognise my router
i know its not the router as ive tried other devices which connect straight away-it either says no connections avialable for the duration or just shows others-eventually it will recgonise it but this never used to take so long
any advice?
okay so i installed ubuntu 14.04 way back but wanted to uninstall it because battery drains very quickly.so i decided to reinstall the old 12.04.03 lts.so i formatted the the drive on which ubuntu was installed. i thought this would work but when i started to install the version 12.04.03(without swap memory), at the end of installation i got an error saying "grubx64.efi was not installed in /target/". i checked boot options and there was still a entry of ubuntu when i selected that option it takes me to grub console that one which says "minimal bash like line editing".i have tried everything like fixmbr,fixboot,bootrepair in ubuntu which created another grub entry,os uninstaller. i have also tried deleting the ubuntu entry with easy bcd & easy uefi but it comes back after i reboot. so my guess is that when i installed 14.04 the grub file got installed in hidden drive.you know the one of three PBRIMAGE,WINRETOOLs,DIAGS because in easy bcd ubuntu entry shows the path: Entry #2 Name: Ubuntu BCD ID: {42e514bc-8835-11e4-bf2d-806e6f6e6963} Device: \Device\HarddiskVolume1 Bootloader Path: \EFI\ubuntu\grubx64.efi i have even tried deleting ubuntu entry "0000 -b B" by using live usb of ubuntu.my laptop is dell inspiron 5520 and i have turned off secured boot off .please any help would be appreciated.this problem is really frustrating. |
Hiii im using dell inspiron 3521 windows 8 preloaded. Whenever i start my laptop. It stuck on dell logo with full blue bar. And after few minutes, a blue screen shows that some files are missing. Error code: 0xc0000185.
When i diagnosed..its showing error code 0142. Hard drive error. And when i force it to boot. It shows in black screen with white letters "no bootable device found, press any key". And when i press any key.. Its repeating the same error... Now i dont know what is happening.. Warranty over.. Dnt knw much typically about computers.. Give me some solution steps.. Plssss

I have been struggling with my laptop since more than 6 months now. Even after making the complete payment, for 4 times your technician comes with faulty parts. Sometimes the motherboard is faulty, sometimes the LED is faulty. Finally on 2nd Dec, this call was closed as fortunately everything was fine that day. But this was only for 1 week. Since last week, When I turn on the laptop, only the light links, the LED doesn’t power up, I don't hear any beep sounds. Apparently I don’t see anything happening.
I have paid you 11000/-. May be its of no value to you. But it is a hefty amount for me. I guess, your technicians just walk around the dump yard and get one scrap spare part. For 4 times, I had taken a half day leave from office, just because your technician was coming with the spares. Today when I spoke to your customer care executive, he says call us when you are in front of the system. I told him that is not possible because both of our office working hours are same and I cannot take leave and go home just to tell you what is the problem. I asked him to send a technician. He said he would charge me for that!!!. Until the customer pays u, he is a king, once the money is on your account, you feel you can play with the customer like anything? Hope you have some business ethics? I would personally never recommend anyone to buy a dell laptop.
I want a response to this mail earliest, otherwise I would drop a mail to Mr. Suresh Vaswani or would send a tweet to him. I would also lodge a case in the consumer court against your services. If not anything else, I want you to refund my complete money.

I found some issue with hanging of system while using WiFi. When device is connected with wireless system hanging and I have to restart computer using only the power button, other ways when is not connected to wireless working fine. What can be wrong
can i get dell backup and recovery discs if my device is not under warranty?
My Studio works great connected to cable but stumbles badly on WiFi. I've tried to connect a WiFi extender to my cable modem with no success. Any way to test the WiFi card?

I bought a dell 3542 running Windows 8.1 on 11/28/14 and initially it worked fine. Now the device list tells me that the IWD bus enumerator can't start and the Bluetooth audio device can't start. When I run your diagnostics it hangs when it tries to find other Bluetooth devices and there are actually 2. A lumia cellphone and a speaker bar and they work fine. This started yesterday and I don't have a clue as to what started it. The Bluetooth devices in the network adapter list are fine. This is the IWD bus enumerator under system devices and the Bluetooth audio device under sound. Apparently without this the laptop can't find other devices

I'm trying to replace the motherboard in my M6500. It seems that most available on the internet (not to mention the least expensive) are model GNN2M, while the model of my motherboard is an 0VN3TR. I've seen a few product listings showing "VN3TR / GNN2M", so I'm wondering if the boards are interchangeable. In other words, can I replace my board with a GNN2M model?

I have been doing a little snooping around in my BIOS section, just trying to get familiar with everything, and I have a few questions, just some things I'm curious about. Not that I am going to change anything, I just like to know trivia type things. So if someone could explain these to me in everyday language I would really appreciate it.

3. There has been a couple of times that just before or just after the Dell logo screen I will get a error(?) "PXE ROM over IPV4 (or 6).
Also I am starting to do some research and making some list as I will eventually (when I feel I understand good enough) install Linux beside Windows 8.1, or I've thought about installing the Linux to an external USB 3.0 HDD, then just plug in and F12 as needed, so I can boot that way. If anyone has any experience with this, and/or can give me some advice to think about I would appreciate it.

The article states that Dell is replacing affected screens even for units that are out of warranty. Mine is now approximately 4 months out of warranty so I was relieved that they had acknowledged the issue and were actually doing something about it. So I called customer support and was told that because my unit is out of warranty there was nothing they could do. I'm hoping someone here has information that can get me pointed in the right direction for a resolution to the issue. Thanks for your help!

I want install OS on SSD.
And SSD wants Window's serial number. But I can't find the serial number. So I inquired Korea service center about it. Korea service center sent me an image file, telling me to copy it in DVD-ROM, and it will be solved. But it wasn't suitable, because the laptop that I bought in USA, not in Korea.
So I want an image file from USA. How do I download the image file?
Or is other method that I install OS on SSD?

I plugged in my charger. But seems it was not working. There was no yellow indicator on charger. I ran the diagnostic run test. It showed me result as PASS all the test. On the same switch I plugged my mobile charger and the same was getting charged.
Please help me with the same.

I have a DELL XPS 15 L521X, (Mid 2012), I have Windows 8 on my machine, Suddenly when I restart my PC a black screen is visible without any error, but system continue beeping. Then I press Power button and shutdown it, after some time when I start it again, its start working normally.
Once system starts its start working without showing any hardware or software problem whenever I shutdown or restart, sometime its start working sometime its continue beeping without showing any error. I don't know what's wrong in it.

Hi, I have an xpsl521x 15, but just recently while watching a movie on the pc, it suddenly went blank with a burning smell. although the pc boots up and whe plugged to an external monitor but the laptop screen is still blank. After opening up the pc, I was able to trace the burning smell to the wifi antenna (qbl000).Pls i need help in identifying What could be the cause of the blank screen. The laptop repaires/engineers around where I live are clueless as to what could cause the blank screen .Also, when the lid is tilted backwards at an angle greater than 90 degrees the pc will go off immediately
Hi. I have been searching for an answer as to why my Touch pad is no longer working. I have had my Dell Inspiron 17R for abut 15 months and the touchpad has not worked for at least 12 of them. At first I noticed the problem after my computer would install updates and I'd have to restore the computer to a particular snapshot point. That worked for all of one week. Then I also checked the drivers. That was unsuccessful. I have also tried pressing F3 + Fn and nothing. I am personally fed up with this computer and wonder if anyone has any idea how to make this problem go away. I won't begin to mention that I have to hold this laptop a particular way to get it to turn on.... It was given as a gift, and I am not the most tech-savvy person in the world, but I do know, the touchpad on a basically new laptop is supposed to work and the device is supposed to turn on when you press the power button without having to do some form of sorcery. Please help me.

2. Dell Command Power Manager 2.0 custom setting for battery charging setting is not effect, for example set start charging at 50%, but actually charging begin just after battery discharged a little. BIOS or Power Manager bug?
3. There have BIOS setting can turn off WiFi when insert wire network cable, but when pull out the wire cable, sometimes WiFi cannot find any wireless networks again. BIOS or Wireless Driver bug?
