Friends,
Got an XPS 13 (with Dell S2740L monitor and USB 3.0 dock for monitor) a few weeks ago; it has the potential to be an awesome machine, but within a few days:
The sound went out:
It began with a red X, then constant prompts that I had unplugged headphones (which I had not). Had the usual discussion with the folks in Hyderabad (and they're nice and good), but all the driver swaps, etc. did nothing. Two different tech folks have visited our web development offices here. Both times it was "fixed" only to, within 48 hours, give no sound with the dreaded red X. They've replaced the speakers twice and the daughter board once.
Even with no sound, I have a constant hiss:
I can't get sound, but I have a transistor radio style hiss and crackle constantly from the speakers.
Fast Access keeps coming back after deletion:
The bloatware Fast Access keeps coming back to my computer after I delete it (and "all components") out of the Control Panel.
Am I doing something wrong with this? Is it the 3.0 dock? The monitor? Is it Dell updates? Windows updates? 32-bit drivers instead of 64-bit? Unfathomable that Dell missed the mark this badly.
Best,
Todd
