need some help. my computer's model is inspiron 14r 5421 with windows 8.1 x64

my computer Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller 0100(Microsoft) does not work anymore. so i used windows troubleshoot to solve the problem, however when i went back to device manager "Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller " no longer exist.

so i downloaded the diver software which is called "USB 3.0 Driver: Intel® USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver for Intel® 7 Series/C216 Chipset Family". but when i ran the software it showed that " this computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software".

so what is the problem ? what should i do?

really need some help!

I just bought a brand new battery for this laptop, it came with 53% battery life and because it has been plugged in it hasn't dropped a percentage but will not charge. it says in the battery info that it's plugged in but not charging

does anybody know why?

Hello

Recently laptop shuts down unexpectedly even when battery shows 40%. When it restarts with mains on, battery shows 0% power. When I check the battery health, it shows "Your Battery is able to charge normally. However, you may begin to notice reduced operating time because your long-term battery life is decreasing".

I know my  battery possibly needs to be replaced, but don't understand why battery indicating incorrectly?

suddenly my keyboard is not working.

if i press letter a = airplane mode starts,,,

also letter e and = dont work...

i tuned off all and it fixed but the again the same problem

 what can be happening
this is a new device how can i contact dell support 

?????? `

i want to request a refund... how to proceed???

wireless also is very bad....

Hi,

Recently replaced the CMOS battery ourselves after getting the 5 beeps.  Put everything back together but a couple of screws were loose and came out.  Regardless the computer booted up fine and worked for a week.  Yesterday it would not power on, at all.   Unscrewed everything, opened it up, found some loose connections and tightened up, then replaced missing screws, seemed that they were tight and not spinning in place.  Computer powered on fine.  Next day, computer powers on again.  Then, after a brief power down, it won't come on.  AGAIN.  Opened everything back up and saw the hard drive was loose so tightened that up via external screw.  Put back together and made sure all connections were tight and re-screwed.  Still will not power on.  Please help.  Have everything on here and need for two businesses that we run.

I have a new Inspiron 7000 series that I'm setting up.  I have a restore app running to download a sizable amount of data from my old backup to this new computer.

Although I have the laptop plugged in and told it to NEVER sleep when plugged in - and I adjusted the hard drive (advanced power management) to stay awake for 120 minutes, it still seems to be going to sleep after a short (less than 1 hour period of time).  

I have to hit the power button and wait for the screen saver, then I swipe it out of the way and must login to my laptop.  The restore application stops running when it goes into this sleep mode. 

Frustrating as my settings all seem to imply the system should stay awake.

Any advice?

I was given a Dell Inspiron that is used...I can't change users or work offline. It came with everything but the manual. Am I going to have to reinstall Windows 8? And how do you set it to work offline?  I never used a laptop or PC that did not automatically enter off line mode upon turning it on...I reset the passwords but not the user and I get this message: "Your PC is offline. Please sign in with the last password used on this PC". So, am I stuck or what?

Just got the dell inspiron 11 3000 (to be exact i have the INSPRION 11 3147 MODEL) and i want to:

1- upgrade the RAM from 4gb to 8gb: if any has done this on there make and model what BRAND and SPECS did you use to complete this task? 

*********AND******** 

2-upgrade the memory from 500gb to 750gb or 1TB (i will settle for HHSD or if possible a SSD) : if any has done this on there make and model what BRAND and SPECS did you use to complete this task? 

If any has completed any 1 of the 2 task i am so greatful to know how  and if theres any particular process in cloning the drivers once i have the right hardware i would love to know that also in steps.

The hard drive on my Inspiron N5050 crashed.  I had made a Dell factory backup on flash drive and a sysem image backup on an external hard drive.  I also have a separate regular backup of files on the external drive.

I bought a new HD (equal in size to the original) and tried to use the system image backup to format the new HD; I got a message:  bmrui.exe Application error. The instruction of oxfff06494 referenced memory @ 0x0000000. The memory could not be read. Recovery Option failed.

There are system backups for two different computers on the external drive, so I had renamed them to keep them separate.  When using the SI for the Dell, I renamed it to the original file name, but no success.

So I used the Dell Factory backup from the flash drive to format the HD.  This worked to install Win 7, etc. but when I tried to use the regular backup to restore the files, all I got were empty files and folders.

What am I doing wrong?

The Users from the old setup are not visible except in Explorer (none of the files/folders can be accessed by Users in the new setup)

I'm thinking I should just start over with the Dell backup on the flash drive and make a clean install of all the programs, but how can I access the old files/folders?

Any help would be  appreciated.

Dell Inspiron N5050 crashed and upon boot, I got this black screen. 

Upon seeing this, without an idea what was wrong I went and did a diagnostics test. I did both a thorough and quick test and got this message showing that the hard drive didn't exist. 

I'm wondering if there's anything I can do to fix this or do I need to replace the hard drive?

I have a Latitude e7440 with a Logitech k750 wireless board and a Logitech wireless mouse. I'm using the Logitech Unifying software so I only have one USB plugged in for both pieces.   I just got a Dell Pro03x  E/Port Replicator Docking Station and I'm having trouble with the wireless mouse and keyboard.  If I dock the laptop, I can't use them whether I leave the USB plugged in on the laptop or if I move it to any of the USB ports on the docking station.  I'm using the docking station because I'm using to external monitors.

Ideally, I'd like to leave the USB plugged into the laptop since I tend to bring just the laptop and mouse into the living room. Ultimately I just want it to work, so if I have to unplug from the laptop and plug into the docking station I'll do that and hope I don't forget my USB when I leave with my laptop.

Any ideas or suggestions to make this work?

hi,

last week i got Dell XPS 13, its not refub its new, this is my 5th laptop from a same shop, the person on shop say it is NEW, in all my laptops within a week i notice 1-2 spots.

when ever i complain to that guy i got same answer "if there are 7 or more spots it can goto warranty otherwise not" 

my questions are these

1. does dell give warranty even if there is one or two spots on screen ?

2. does dell sale these kind of laptops for cheap price and may be the guy is cheating ?

dell not give warranty for 1 or 2 spots ?

why only the laptops i get from this shot is giving spots ?

Can the dell inspiron 15r (7520) special edition be expanded to 16gb?  I am hearing conflicting accounts of the board can support 16gb?  The last technician provided me dell part # :  A6994451

Have disabled the auto adjustment option in the power settings -> advanced settings -> adaptive brightness.

Have disabled the dell extended life battery options.

Have tried the proposed workaround to cycle between local and external display settings.

Nothing seems to resolve the issue.  Is this a hardware issue? I received this laptop in Dec 2014, although it says it is a late 2013 laptop.

Hi all.  My Inspiron 7537 battery is draining itself when the laptop is powered off.  I have all the latest drivers for everything and the latest BIOS.  Everything is updated.  I have all the best software for viruses and spyware.

It has been happening for a couple of months now.  I usually have it plugged in when I use it.  Randomly when I turn it on the next afternoon after turning it off at 100% the night before it can be as low as 70% the next day.  Sometimes the battery is still at 100%

I take care of my electronics and am very computer savvy but this has me stumped.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi there,

My Dell studio 1555 is out of warranty. I have a problem with my VGA IC in the motherboard hence laptop boots up but no diplay in LCD as well as through the VGA port (external monitor) . Tried reflowing the IC with a local technician and it worked for a week and it's now gone again (no display). Is there any permanent fix? Or where can I buy a new Motherboard. If not, please suggest me a compatible M/B that I can buy for my Studio 1555. Also please let me know if the new M/B will support my LCD display as it's a  1080p Full HD display.

Upon login, it says to insert/connect a fingerprint reader. In Control Panel > Biometric, it says the device cannot be found and to insert it or install drivers. Worked fine for many ears until a few days ago. No idea what to try. Don't seem able to find installable drivers.
