Dell XPS issues

I purchased 2 Dell laptops last year. One is XPS and and the other Inspiron.  The day I received XPS , The pin behind it was so loose , I couldn't connect powercord, the tech guy has to fix it, then after few weeks they changed mother board and then dvd player, after that some drivers were missing and they need to install those to fix other issues, Now my screen went blank with lines as soon as I turn it on. I am fed up with dell . Dell ows me my money back or a new laptop.  My warranty expired but the problems were there since day 1 . I would like to report this to Corporate office so they can take care of this issue with out charging me. I have been loyal customer to dell but this is getting on to my nerves and now am not recommending dell to any friends. Please help on how to report this issue to corporate.

Thanks,

Vijaya.

Inspiron N5030 Touchpad Problem

I need to find out how to disable the touch pad for my Inspiron N5030.  The problem is that it does NOT show up as any listed hardware device, so it can't be shut off.  I can find nothing on here that shows that it even exists, and the hot key for it doesn't work either.  It is causing massive problems for me in when I type it keeps moving the cursor to different parts of the sentence/screen constantly.  I have googled the problem and have asked several different techie friends for help and nobody can find the touch pad in order to disable it.

If I can't get this shut off I will have to buy a new one (not a Dell again).

Thank you in advance for any help!

Dell Inspiron 14R-charging stops when plugged in

Hi, Before you think its the normal "plugged in not charging" problem, its not. I have Dell Inspiron 14r bought in Jan 2011. Hardly over an year, the battery lasted not more than 30-45 mins and hence had to retort to connectin to ac supply all the time. Other than that, everything is great. I usually do not shut down the laptop, instead put the flap down to its sleep mode. Then suddenly one day, I noticed that the blue charging light on the charging pin was off. I tried to connect thr charger to a different power outlet and the blue charging light showed up. But as soon as i would insert that in the laptop charging point, the bluelight on the charger would go off. I tried number of times and every time, the moment I try to insert the charging pin in the charging point of laptop, the bluelight would disappear (and not reappear until I remove the pin, and unplug-replug the adapter into power outlet. Now I am not sure whether this is the charger-adapter problem or battery problem or something wrong with the laptop hardware related to charging. Help me out please. Suggest what needs to bedone, atleast for once to restart the system. Thanks :)

My pc is Dell 17R 7720 SE

I just have installed a mSata drive( I want to accelerate my primary HD) . The system recognised the card  (in device manager and bios) but the  Intel Smart Response Technology (ISRT) option on SATA operation (in bios) is not showing. I see only AHCI and ATA.

So i can't use accelerate function on Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology. I can't even see the Accelerate button.

I appreciate any type of answer. Thanks

Dell inspiron 1300 not finding own wifi after clean xp install

Hi,

After doing a fresh xp clean install (no problems just wanted a fresh system) and downloading all the drivers (except ethernet controller) My Laptop cannot find our own wifi connection, Its finds everyone elses wifi but ours. I know that it is not a router problems as another laptop, netbook, smartphone and tablet connect with no problems. I have installed almost all of the windows updates as well. before the reinstall it had not been used for a while due to new gadgets and we have had a new router since then, Is it a case of the wireless card being too old to connect to the router? If so any recomendations on a cheap upgrade ?

Also I cannot seem to find the driver automatically for "ethernet controller" even on the dell drivers site, I probably will not use ethernet to connect but I feel it would help if I can get it sorted, Where can I find the driver for this,

Dell XPS 17 (L702x) Lemon Purchase

If you are thinking of buying or currently own a Dell XPS 17 (L702x) good luck. I purchased my laptop in march 2012 and I personalized the purchase for high end performance. I have had nothing but trouble, pain and suffering, from this unit. I teach technology classes and needed a laptop that could do animation, programming, and video/audio. I thought this unit would be perfect for what I needed to accomplish and so I would not have to live at my campus to prepare lessons and practice using new developments in software. I wanted to spend more time with my family but instead I now spend time trying to get the lemon either fixed or replaced.Since purchasing the laptop I have had to have the DVD R\W replaced 4/29/2012,  wireless adapter and motherboard 3/11/13, motherboard and wireless adapter again 4/2/13, motherboard(again), speakers, and power chord 5/22/13, motherboard(again), keyboard and god only knows next 5/23/13. So far I have had a grand total of 4 wireless adapters, 4 going on 5 motherboards, speakers, DVD writer/reader, power chord, and coming up keyboard replaced on this unit. Still Dell has not replaced the defective unit. I wonder how much money they are willing to sink into this project before they realize it would be cheaper just to replace the unit with a new one. I also hope when the service tech order my keyboard he knew it was back lit or they will be sending another one. I am sincerely upset about everything that has occurred and would like to know if anyone else has experienced such catastrophic results with this particular unit. Did they finally resolve your issue or am I doomed to this for another 3 years?

Help me understand Dell.

Vostro 3560 problem in the touchpad buttons

I received my new Vostro 3650 3 days ago, Happy with most of it except for this one little detail:

the touchpad works fine but the left & right click buttons do not.

I have downloaded the latest driver from dell.

I have downloaded the latest drivers from synaptics.

I have checked that the synaptic settings show the buttons are enabled.

Does anyone know anthing about this? I reloaded Windows 7 and the buttons didnt work during the installation process either.

Is there anyway these could be disabled? or do I need to replace the button board beneath the buttons?

Inspiron 6000 boot problem

I have the Inspiron 6000 since 2005 without any problem, but it has been used sparingly by my wife from 2009 till now, that a boot problem started. After I start the laptop (with no computer password), it would try to run the BIOS (showing the big DELL with www.dell.com and a progress bar) when the progress bar reaches the end, the screen would turn dark and the big DELL would show again trying to run the BIOS, and on keep on repeating.  I can press F2 to go to the BIOS Setup screen and make changes without any problem.  I can also press F12 to change to boot from CD-Drive.  I tried putting the "Drivers & Utilities" disk in.  It will read the BIOS in the disk and try to boot and do the same repeating the big DELL screen.  I tried to run the "Pre-boot System Assessment Build 3018" to do the diagnostic tests.  Everything "pass" until the last test "No Diagnostic Utility Partition found. ------"  I press OK.  It goes back to repeating the Big DELL screen trying to run the BIOS from the CD-Disk.  Is there something wrong with the inherent circuit (or software) running the BIOS?  Because the same problem occurs running the BIOS stored in the Internal Hard-drive or the one stored in the CD disk.  Is there a simple solution? or is it time to junk the laptop?

Significant, but puzzling question!?

To start, I have a Dell Inspiron N5050 Notebook.

My CPU is an Intel Core i3 2350M at 2.30GHz (never been overclocked)

I have 8GB of RAM

My graphics card as you may have guessed is an integrated Intel HD 3000 card

I do not game heavily on this laptop, but I have been playing Tomb Raider and Deus Ex: Human Revolution on it lately. (Yes it runs them very well)

Here is the issue...My battery is not the greatest, but it is not bad either. When I am running off battery power, I hardly get lag in Deus Ex. Once I need to plug in my AC adapter, it still runs okay for the most part, but there are random lag spikes. I rarely get lag spikes solely running on battery.

Is there a setting I can change that will possibly make this go away? You think it would run great on AC, not on battery. I have read other posts about other computers and issues, but I have not found a good solution. I have also tweaked the batter power settings a few different times.

I am running the games in the same settings whether on battery or AC power, and another note is that I just put a Windows 8 OS on here, so maybe there is some kind of hidden power setting that would have been easier to find on Windows 7.

Any help is Appreciated,

Upgrade Inspiron 15R SE (7520) with SSD

I would like to buy the Inspiron 15R SE notebook and replace its HDD with an SSD. I have some questions:
  • Does it void the warranty if I replace the HDD with an SSD?
  • How can I know whether a certain SSD is compatible with the notebook? Or any 2.5 sized, SATA2 or SATA3 SSD is compatible?
  • The Inspiron 15R has a SATA2 port, for which the maximum transfer speed is 300 MB/s, right? So there is no point in buying an SSD which has faster transfer rate, am I correct?

Thanks for any help.

Dell E6430 not connecting when used with docking station

$

Hi all,

I am having problems with a dell latitude E6430 laptops (two) not connecting when used with a docking station. It worked normally for about a week or so after which it could no longer connect to the network when used with a docking station. When it is connected solo (out of the dock), it takes a while to connect and then it connects with 100Mbps instead of 1Gbps; when forced to negotiate with 1Gbps, it says Network Cable Unplugged. I have tried uninstalling and installing drivers and upgrading the BIOS to no avail.

Can anyone shed some light on this please???

Thanks

Sudden shutdown, no BSOD, Inspiron n7010

$

My Inspiron n7010 keeps shutting down suddenly with no warning. It doesn't have any beep codes or error codes displayed on the screen when it shuts down or starts up again. Any ideas as to what would cause that? I thought maybe overheating, but it doesn't always seem hot when it happens. Today it happened within 5 minutes of turning it on, so I don't think it even had time to overheat. It seems completely random. The lack of a hardware error code is leaving me confused. It is running windows 7 home premium 64 bit.
