Hi Dell Management,

I am a Senior Consultant working in Australia in the ERP industry and I chose to by a Dell XPS 13 online, playing AUD 1350.00. I received the laptop about 2 months ago and after just 1 month I experienced a problem where my audio device is not recognized. Called Dell support over 3 times where the call connects to a support center in Malaysia. Many technicians remotely connected to my laptop and installed different sound drivers and chip set drivers and the problem still existed. I insisted that I need this laptop replaced and dell sent a technician to replace the motherboard of this brand new laptop. He replaced the board and restarted the machine and the issue was still there. I immediately called Dell and insisted that i need a new laptop or my money back and finally Dell agreed to send me a new laptop. I am to receive the replacement on the 18th of December.

The point is, Dell, you guys need to understand that there are many other very good products like Mac book Air, Asus, HP, Thinkpad and so on out there where customers like me do choose to go with you guys simply coz we have always trusted Dell to be a good and reliable product. You guys boast about the new XPS 13 saying it is your flagship ultra book but look at how many issues you have in it.. Basic stuff like sound, Fan noise, track pad etc.. Its insane... This is gonna be the last time I choose Dell and i am damn serious. I discourage everyone to buy Dell too..

And I am telling you Dell, If my replacement has any issues at all I need my money back with no questions asked or else I will report this case to Australian Consumer Affairs and It can be taken up in court. You guys haven't done charity.. We consumers have paid you good money for what you offer. If you are unable to offer quality products for the money we pay, return it back and save your selves a lot of trouble !!!!

Issues running Dell Backup and Recovery V1.7.5.60.  When I use a USB flash drive and select the Create Your Rescue Disk function the process runs but at the end I get a warning message that says an error has occurred along with and "OK" acknowledge button.  When I connect my USB hard disk drive the formal process will not complete, even after two hours or time.

I cannot find help information or user manuals/instruction on the Dell site for any version beyond V1.3

Hi guys i have dell studio 1555 laptop with processor Intel core 2 duo t6600 and ram 3 gb with video memory ati radeon 4570(512 mb) running windows 8.1 x64.I uses my laptop to download movies so it runs almost 24 hrs a day recently when i got back from my work laptop was turned off (no power outage was occurred at that time) when i tried to turn on the laptop it starts to produce continuous beep sounds(and no display) after some trial and error i found out that charging adapter was the culprit if it is connected laptop won't turn on and continuous beeps sounds occurs , but if you start the laptop without the adapter and then connect the adapter back on then no problem. And the event viewer has under the critical error section an error named Kernel power(event id 41)(The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.) and i will list some of the errors in the event viewer here
kernel event tracing(Session "" failed to start with the following error: 0xC0000011),ACPI(: The embedded controller (EC) did not respond within the specified timeout period. This may indicate that there is an error in the EC hardware or firmware or that the BIOS is accessing the EC incorrectly. You should check with your computer manufacturer for an upgraded BIOS. In some situations, this error may cause the computer to function incorrectly.) ,Ntfs(The default transaction resource manager on volume E: encountered a non-retryable error and could not start.  The data contains the error code.)
Can you guys please help me find the problem and its solution ?

Dell E6440 High CPU Interrupts on ACPI.sys

I have two Dell E6440's that are both showing constant 25% CPU usage.

Using Process Explorer, both are showing high Interrupts on the ACPI.sys process.

Both are up to date with BIOS / Drivers via Dell Command Update.

Has anyone else noticed this? My feeling is that it was the A07 BIOS update, should I roll it back a version?

CPU scaling problem with E6540

Hello,

I have a problem with the CPU scaling of my E6540 and the docking station as well as using 90W poower suppy.

When using the 90W power supply, the laptop decides it does not get enough power to charge and scales down to maximal 400MHz. This may be intended, still 90W should be enough to maintain a running laptop. I would really like to use the nice slim 90W power supply when travelling, but this seems not to be possible.

The bigger problem is, that when connecting to the docking station, the laptop sometimes scales down as well. This, unfortunately is randomized and a workaround is to connect and disconnect the laptop several times. Though this is very annoying.

I am mainly using Linux (gentoo), though the scaling is BIOS regulated and thus affects Win7 as well. It is obviously possible to remove the symptoms when turning off the CPU-scaling in the BIOS, but then the consumption and heat of the laptop goes up rapidly, which is not desireable as well.

Is the incompatibility with the 90W supply intended and my docking station faulty, or are these known BIOS issues, which may be removed in the future?

Hello,

I have been an owner of latitude e4300 since 2009, without any problem.

Last week thought, the laptop during some boot/reboot attempts did not show a thing on screen but it was booting normally.

When Connected to an external screen, the desktop appears and the machine is usable with no errors on log and all devices working normally. under windows 7.

The problem appears every three to four boot attempts. The external display works fine ALL the times.

Any ideas about the cause of the problem ?

Many Thanks in advance!

Hi,

I have a new Inspiron 5547 w/Windows 7, everything is working well except for the Touchpad.  Initially the touchpad was working fine, then it stopped responding, only when I attached a USB mouse could I use the laptop.  I re-installed drivers and the Touchpad worked correctly again.   A few days later, the trackpad stopped working again....reinstalled drivers yet again and everything worked fine.   Now for the 3rd time in 4 days the trackpad is not working.

Is this a hardware issue? Windows 7 Issue?    Thank you for your help!

Cust and TECH support

FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!   I researched and thought this unit would handle my needs.   After 8 months of 'adjusting my habits' called Dell support for some 'PROFESSIONAL' help.

WRONG!  they crashed unit charged 258 to restore op system only to have MONTHS of ongoing problems since.   we handle or fix one ticket and create 2 more!   know two of the techs on a 'personal' level, we've spent so much time on phone together. . .

DUG deeper into International Sites and forums . . THIS IS NORMAL M.O. AND COMPLAINT AGAINST DELL???

That's my MAIN problem?  I was under the impression DELL was a RELiABLE name!

WON'T REBUY OR SUGGEST ANY PURCHASE FROM DELL WHO ISN'T A EXCELLENT TECH THEMSELVES. . .  TOTAL GAMBIT. . .. . . it either works well or TOTAL TRASH   buy a lottery ticket better odds?

Stylus for Dell Inspiron 11 3000 2-in-1

I recently acquired a Dell Inspiron 11 3000 2-in-1.  It has a touch screen and I very much enjoy using it.  I wanted to begin taking handwritten notes on this laptop using a stylus to write like a pen.  So far, I have only found a stylus with a broad, soft rubber tip that will respond to the touch screen.  This is not satisfactory for trying to write like you would if using a pen and paper.  Obviously, my finger works as well, but that's not very accurate as well.  I was hoping someone on these forums could recommend an appropriate stylus to use with this product that would enable me to write like a pen.

I have already tried speaking to Dell agents both by phone and by online chat, and it was suggested to use a Dell Active Stylus.  I purchased this product and it did not work.  I will be returning that product of course.

Does anyone out there have a recommendation for a pen-like stylus that I can use with my Dell Inspiron 3000 2-in-1?  It does not matter if it is a Dell product or a non-Dell product.

Thanks in advance.

Hi

I bought a year and two months ago refurbished laptop from some 3rd party company. About 3 weeks ago it literally stop working, after pushing power on, nothing is happening, no sounds, nothing, only power button and power icon is lighted. You can see it on those videos (on first it's working first couple of times, then stops):

https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=EA5924FB1FED3786!34994&authkey=!AJJWRZ_v4sKICK8&ithint=folder%2cmp4

Please advice what's might be the cause, I hope it's not mother board, it might pretty expensive to replace.

Second thing is the warranty. On dell support site I can see NBD warranty till 2016, but use it because I need to tell registered company name. I don't know this company name, it's not the one from which I bought this laptop, that company was giving me 1 year warranty which already gone. Please advice if there is any chance to use warranty which is still there. I have all the prove of buying it, all invoiced, original card box etc.

Thanks

Hi, My friend gave me a used DELL laptop Inspiron 2200  XP .   ,he got it somewhere else.I am a 60 yr old computer dummy , I got a smart phone, but I'm not smart enough to use it !

I turned it on, first thing I noticed was the sign in said Mark and Guest, I thought I'd see what Mark had left on here( I'm using it now) I found out he's an Administrator, but I don't have his password, to make a lot of changes I wanted to try out.

2nd thing I saw was pop up saying , updates ready for your computer, so I clicked update, then it said insert service pack 3 disc.,I don't have one, So I finally got my wireless conn. to let me on the internet. I tried Dell to look for the SP,I remember there is no more support for XP Then I get a sign saying something about a un recognized file or ?.So I thought , Great now what did I do ? I  see on the desktop, something called Haiter, or Hater, opened, it , seems to be some kind of update to Windows Vienna(sp ?) Next I get a notice saying Driver not installed, well I dont think I uninstalled anything ? So I came back to DELL to see about drivers(hey, I used to be a driver , a bread truck) and to see what if anything you can do with a computer running XP, besides throw it away and get a new one, like everything else these wasteful days. It seems like the more I try to learn , the more confused I get! (do 4 yr olds really know all this stuff?)Anyway thats about all I have time for, any advice( HaHa) you might have might help. Out of Warranty Local repair service

I need to find a Dell Authorized local repair source; no remote service?

We have a Dell Vostro 1720 that fails to access the hard drive, but the problem is not the drive itself.

It is out of warranty.  I have done what I can to troubleshoot, but now need someone qualified to fix.

Thanks.

FYI, this unit was serviced while under warranty for overheating. Dell sent a local service tech who replaced the heatsink.  Problem is I cannot find his name or contact info.
