I'm starting customising my new Latitude E5550 laptop.

After turning on Bitlocker I noticed that when I shut down the laptop, it goes to sleep. Even if I logoff first then request a shutdown it still just goes to sleep. I can request a restart which does work - it restarts, but a shutdown still makes it go to sleep. I can hold the power button to force it off. Doing that or when requesting a restart, the laptop starts back up but I find that the laptop goes into Flight mode. The Flight mode symbol is visible even before you logon.

I turned off Bitlocker, and the problem has gone away. Is there a solution for this?

Should I use the Dell DDP Encryption product instead?

My HDD on Dell inspiron 7520 had crashed, so I changed a new HDD ( Hitachi ). My laptop was preinstalled with window 7 home prem OA with the key number found under the battery. I also found another number " X16-96072". Is that the version of Win7 i have to instal to my Laptop. Because I has installed window 7 home premium " X17-58997".

After install the X17-58997, I activate window but it said " the Window 7 home premium product key you type is invalid for activation" and give me 3 option....

So my question is : 1. Does it mean that the product key I found under the battery not work with Window 7 " X17-58997", and I have to re-install with Window 7 home premium " X16- 96072"

                                   2. If I still want to keep X17-58997, what must I do ?

Please help me because Window give me only 3 days to resolve the problem be for they activate it automatically.

I just bought a used Latitude E5530, and when reviewing youtube videos, reading reviews, etc. I've heard that you can have touchpad gestures, such as placing a few fingers across the touchpad, to make the screen go blank (privacy mode?).

I am new to owning a Dell, and think I picked my first laptop quite well; I'm very happy with it! Can anyone explain to me how I can add gestures such as the "privacy mode" I was talking about? My laptop doesn't do it, so I'm thinking its an option somewhere in the system.

On diagnostic scan I found this below errors. I also found my computer taking time to boot and working slow on browsing internet. However I have good internet speed. Please give your suggestion what I can do hare.

I started new job and was given a Dell Vostro 3550 laptop to use.

I am frustrated with the touchpad and clicking functionality, and was wondering if there is a setting to help me out.

1.  I click on a field but sometimes can't type in it until I click in it again.

2.  I highlight data in excel or word, and try to copy and paste with no results, have to go click again on item for it to work!

3.  Highlight a group of cells in Excel, and hit delete, no results have to go click in area again.

4.  Also can be typing in word or outlook and all of a sudden my cursor has moved on the page and now I am inserting new text between old text.

ok so it did a scan it self and I got a error saying something is wrong with the cd rom drive and it needs to be replaced it had me fill out shipping info and I think it sent me a box my laptop is a inspron 7737 its only 3 weeks old and haven't had a problem the the cd rom drive but don't want to send it in if I don't realy need to and it my only working computer right now there are 2 pics below with all the info

There is no optical disk on this machine.

I have a Dell bluetooth travel mouse.  Every time my computer goes into sleep mode, the mouse is undiscoverable.  There is no bluetooth icon on the tray bar.  Could this have anything to do with it?  Why is my bluetooth not finding the mouse?

Hi everybody,

Just now i've gotten two blue screen messages in quick succession. I ran diagnostics from the boot screen and the test shows the only error is with the Hard Drive. I was given this message -

Error Code - 2000-0151

Validation 21265

Message - Hard Drive 0 - S/N TE85434902BA8R

Incorrect Status - 3E

Just wondering what I need to do

Hi,

I have Dell Inspiron N5110 15R. It looks like my Video card is not working anymore. My laptop is showing my Complete Blank White screen.

I tried to use different screen but still didn't work. Then i tried with Projector screen and with projection it worked (showed me output). So more than likely it is video card. (if i'm not wrong)

Can somebody please tell me if there is any way to fix it or not. if there is any way to fix it, What it is ?

Hi, My mums computer has ended up in a Black screen "Preparing automatic repair" loop and therefore will not boot :(

None of the repair options work from the boot options etc, so I need the OEM win 8.0 installation disk please, so that I can at least boot to safe mode and maybe correct from there once out of the boot loop.

I have a motherboard from a Latitude E4310 that I'm using to control some devices. Unfortunately, it always boots into diagnostics mode because there's no power button, touchpad, battery, integrated display, etc, etc. I don't need any of those elements. Every time I power it up, it goes into Diagnostics Mode and gives me the blue screen with several errors because of the missing elements. I am forced to keep a keyboard connected and push several keys to ignore the errors and finally OK to boot. This is annoying, it forces me to have a keyboard connected and, what's worse, requires manual intervention to power up the system. You'd think there would be an option in the BIOS, a jumper on the board or something to disable this annoying test but my Google searches have turned out unsuccessful thus far. Any ideas, please?

I just bought this laptop 2  days ago. (on bestbuy). Out of the box, there was this soft scratchy noise from the HDD constantly ( with pauses now n then). I  was not able to find any solution online. I tried different power plans and no change. Any idea whats wrong ?

Dell diagnostics turned out clean.

Person brought this laptop to me saying his cousin had wiped the HDD clean and it needs an OS so I reinstalled installed win7 and all works fine in windows but whenever I power on the unit, I am getting

"No bootable devices--Strike F1 to retry reboot, F2 for setup utility
Press F5 to run onboard diagnostics

The boot menu is set to Internal HDD first. In the Bios Boot Sequence, something looks weird, if you can look at the first image, you will notice that the Diskette drive is selected as 1 as the top most entry:

but as shown in the 2nd image when I move the Internal HDD to the top it is showing above the diskette drive?

I don't know if the above is normal or has anything to do with this problem but only way to get the system to boot to windows involves powering on and pressing F12 to go to the Boot Menu screen, press Enter then it boots to windows, help?

My inspiron e1505, when i power it up it shows the caps nuber and scroll lock light  and the power light for about four seconds, and then they go off. About a week ago it got some water, i have turned it upsidown for about a day, but it is not working at all PLEASE HELP

Hi all, hope someone can help...

This week I took delivery of an Inspiron 7000 laptop for my daughter, and some of the keyboard symbols are typing incorrectly.   EG when hitting the " key she get the @ symbol, the @ symbol is giving the british pound symbol, and maybe one or two others are incorrect (I am at work at present and don't have the laptop with me to give all the wrong keys).

I set up the keyboard as English (UK) I think...

We are locaated in Australia

Hope someone can help before I contact Dell support direct

Help Have Big Issues with my brand new Laptop Inspiron 15 (3541, Mid 2014) windows 8.1 x64,

1. Power light not on no more,

2. Computer keeps shutting down randomly

3. randomly the FastFace Recognition keeps not working

4. Do not see my DVD drive no more. It is fixed now restart computer did not fix it had to shut down and turn it back on. Where can I find a new driver for this PLDS DVD+-RW DU-8A5LH SATA CdRom Device? And where can I find a manual on this device? What dose Optical really mean? Can I use laptop to print on DVD/CD through in this DVD? What is a Optical Drive?  

5. DSD not responding every time logging on to Desktop.

6. The boot windows screen never loads up and not able to use keys F2 and F12 at splash dell screen boot.

This I just bought on 2nd Of December 2014.

Why is this Laptop so bad already?

Help need fixed please need this Laptop working better.

 Hi

 I have a Latitude E4310, great little laptop, in the summer installed Win 8 on it and since then had issues!

First my keyboard stopped working but touchpad continued to work!

Took out keyboard and replaced, then both worked again!

About 3 weeks later same happened, but had touchpad working but no keyboard. Took out keyboard again and replaced, now no touchpad or keyboard!

 Bought new keyboard (US) and fitted, all worked fine again.

Month or so later lost both again, refitted keyboard and worked!

Now lost keyboard again, but have touchpad and also noticed has joystick on keyboard working!

Also checked keyboard doesn't work on boot screen, so can't get to safe mode or repair.

Forced Win7 back on machine and used external mouse keyboard to install, retarted and still no keyboard!

 Please help me, do i need another keyboard or is there a problem with the motherboard?

Dear all,

          I am trying to update a LATITUDE E6540 to a SSD. I tried cloning the entire Hard Disk
with the original DELL partitions (OEM, Recovery and OS) using AOMEI Backupper Standard (that
worked for cloning other machines).

Unfortunately, after a successfull copy, when I try to boot from the SSD (by substituting the cloned HDD with the SSD), windows starts to try to recover from errors (quite a lenghty process) and ultimately fails to boot.

Does anyone have suggestions on how (if it is possible) to solve this issue ?
