I have Dell XPS 12 ultrabook that I can't figure out what the issue is. The issues started with the computer not charging completely. It was getting an error saying along the lines that it was unreconized or incorrect power supply when it was the one that came with the computer. We had a second XPS and used that charger, and had a replacement sent I was getting the same error. I could never updated the BIOS because it would not go past 1 percent. Now it no longer powers on at all. I get the Orange and white power light blinking and battery meter with one light and that is it. I hooked the battery and held the power and checked every other connection. I tried powering it on without the battery and did nothing so IDK if it would worked that way or not but just trying it. Is the motherboard or something else going on?

Dell XPS 15 L502x Webcam
Hello everyone,
I am aware of an ongoing issue with the webcam for the Dell XPS L502x models. Usually if the webcam malfunctions, a power cycle will typically do the trick to get the webcam to function. However, my issue is software/driver related.
One day, I left my laptop sitting on my desk, and Windows decides to install it's own generic webcam driver. By the time I got back the Windows generic driver was installed, not the Dell Quanta h.264 driver. Thus, I updated the driver to use the original driver. In the device manager, it states that the driver is working fine, but whenever I use Skype or Dell Webcam Central, it says there is a program that is using the webcam thus it cannot function. I doubled check for any processes and also use a program named "Process Explorer" and found nothing.
I also ran Malwarebytes, CCleaner to make sure there were no suspicious activity going and found nothing.
If anyone knows if there is a solution, that would be great.

Touchpad gestures wont open and touchpad settings wont open
Ok so my touchpad started acting weird one day and the two finger swipe stopped working. I went to control panel and clicked mouse. As soon as I clicked on the touch pad tab the window stopped responding and crashed. I tried to click on it by the time and date and it didn't open. I deleted the driver and still nothing.

Battery Failure in a battery that is olugged in all the time
I have a
Inspiron 15 (3521, Late 2012)
and my battery has failed 7 days after the warranty was up-Murphy's Law.
I keep my laptop plugged in all the time and therefore do not run it off the battery.
Can someone please explain to me what I did wrong here?
I don't see how the battery could fail, when I don't run (use it) the computer from it, especially after only 1 years useage?

Latitude E6400 running extremely warm
The grill on the left side of my Latitude E6400 gets extremely warm--especially when video is playing. The bottom side of the case, on the left side, gets very warm, as well. I've been able to confirm that the fan behind the grill on the bottom side *does* run periodically; however, the grill and underside remain very warm.
How warm? Right now, after playing a video for about 15 minutes, SpeedFan reports the following temperatures: GPU (162F), HD0 (109F), Temp1 (145F), Core 0 (140F), Core 1 (142F). All of the items except HD0 have a flame icon--indicating an abnormally-high temperature. Worse, I've seen the temperatures considerably higher than the above.
I've had this laptop for about five years. The latest BIOS and drivers are installed. It's working OK, otherwise. This problem started, suddenly, perhaps a year ago.
Any suggestions on how to resolve this? And what would have caused the problem to start suddenly?

Does Dell Inspiron 13 7347 Contain SSHD?
Bought an Inspiron 13 7347 recently.
When i went through many review sites, they mentioned it has 8GB SSHD. But there is nothing mentioned such as SSHD on System configuration when i checked in the PC.
I have no comlaints with the performance yet may be because i have not used enough. But then how is the machine so fast and wakes up in second if its not an ultrabook and has not any SSHD in it?

Inspiron 3537 - webcam issues
Hello,
I am facing the same with my Inspiron 3537 webcam, have done fair bit of reading and tried all solutions provided but none worked.
The integrated webcam or a third party webcam does not work with any program (tried Skype, Dell Webcam Central). I have tried uninstalling and re-installing the cams and drivers but nothing helps.
Any suggestions?

SLOW BOOTING(Almost 20 to 30 mins)
Hi,
I have dell inspiron n4110 laptop. Every time i boot the system it takes 20 to 30 mins. But after booting my system worksfine with out any hang. But booting alone it takes very long time even i formatted my system and tried. So i ran the diagnostics i got the below error
Error Code 200-01 42
Validation 10522
Msg: Hard Drive 0 - S/N 5WS2Q5WB, self test unsuccessful. Status = 7
Does anyone know what I can do to fix this?

Dell inspiron N5110 want to upgrade RAM
Hi,
I got 3 GB DDR 3 RAM factory installed. now i want to know if i can upgrade the RAM on this laptop by replacing the One slot of 1 GB by 8 GB RAM to make total 10 GB. so please confirm me if motherboard supports it.
And total How much RAM can i increase on this model motherboard. suppose if in future i replace 2nd slot also by 8 GB which.
because I saw on Intel ARK website that this model processor can support max 16 but it depends on the manufacturer motherboard whether it can give me performance or not.
so, please make me clear on this ASAP.

Hi I have a Dell Inspiron 15 7000 (7537) i5 4200U, with the HD Graphics 4400 graphics card. My question is can i replace the motherboard that has the HD graphics with the one that has the Nividia G750M graphics chip? I think it will work because its the same laptop mine just has the HD graphics on it. Any answers would be awesome.

Dell Inspiron 15(3000): AMD Quad-Core A6-6310 APU: Allow Built-In "Overdrive" Mode?
The above series of processors apparently have an "Overdrive" mode at that will allow the cores to jump to 2.4ghz from their normal working clock speed of 1.8ghz. However, there seems to be no way to use it or access it. The clock speed will not move above 1.8ghz no matter how much demand I put on the system. There are no obvious (or unobvious) BIOS settings that even reference AMD Overdrive. I'd like to be able to utilize the extra power, but I can't seem to find it.
Be advised, I'm running Linux on this machine, though I assumed that Overdrive would have been handled at the BIOS level. Anyway, any assistance would be appreciated. Thank you.

XPS 1640 will not power on.
My XPS 1640 will not power on. The battery is fully charged, ac adapter has blue power indicator at the plug and charging indicator lights function properly. When I push the power button the only indications are on the media buttons above the keyboard. The STOP, MUTE, VOLUME DOWN, and EJECT lights are illuminated.
I have opened it up and removed the RAM, HDD, abs BLUERAY drive with no change in status.
I figured it was a motherboard component failure so I replaced the main moard. Upgraded from a DA0RM2MBAH0 the DA0RM3MBAD0 for the improved video capacity. NOTE: YOU HAVE TO ORDER A Y503R/Y505R Compatible heatsink for this upgrade as they have different screw positions. I still have the same indications as before the moboard swap.
Does anyone know why the status lights mean? I think they must be an indicator of what has failed.

I have a Dell Studio which I can power on and it gets past the logon screen and to my desktop, but then it freezes and then powers down. My power cord to the wall is plugged in.

need to restore to factory settings
I have a Inspiron 5437 with windows 8.1. I'm unable to boot it past a blue box asking for the system password. I don't have that password. My wife and daughter had somehow set this password up. before this I could not get windows 8 to open without a password. I do not have either of the required passwords. Is there a way for me to easily restore to factory settings? hey have no data on the computer that needs to be saved.

XPS 13 Laptop - Bios Update Failed
Hi -
I've just tried downloading and installing the latest bios update for my XPS 13 laptop, update 3360A18.
When I run the update, from inside Win 7 x64, I get a "ERROR 242 - This is not a valid supported system!"
Does anyone have any ideas what might be causing this, and how I might be able to fix it?

Inspiron 13 7347 ctrl key
I have had this laptop for 3 days now. I like the size of it and the ability to fold into a tablet. One problem I have had twice in the last 3 days is the ctrl key functionality will stick on. Not sure what the cause it, the first time it is like the ctrl and shift keys were both stuck. Any clicks would open in a new tab, any typing was in all caps. The second time it seems like the ctrl key only was stuck. Both times the only way to clear the problem was to restart. Any ideas on what the problem could be, or does this thing need to go back?
