Hi, 

I bought an Inspiron 15 3542 laptop and it works fine; the Power button has an LED which never lights up; also, the system LED at the right bottom (front of the laptop), does not light up all the time. It only lights up in white when I start the laptop from sleep or shutdown. 

Is this a design flaw or is something wrong with the laptop? I have never seen the Power button LED light up, which is annoying since the keyboard area is always dark without any lights; I have a HP Pavilion which has many blue LEDs on the surface and front of the laptop, so I find it weird not to have any lights on the Dell. 

Please advise.

Hi Friends,

Yesterday, i bought one second's laptop from my relative.  When i was googling, i found some software to check RAM, HARD DISK, etc. But i don't  know, How to check motherboard components completely.

I already knew dell diagnostic system check. and i tried too. Its shows no problem found. I want to know about something in-depth failure of motherboard internal components. 

Why i'm asking this question  which means lot of dell laptop's are power failure issues. Service center are said to people, change your motherboard that's the only solution for power failure.  

I want more to know about power failure issue or power IC failure ?

Could anyone help to find the solution for this issues...

Hello,

My drive is working properly at the moment but has this error (video here) and it seems critical. Can you please enlighten me on the right course of action..? 

I have already backed up important files.

The model is Inspiron N5110 R15 and it's the stock hard drive.

I just bought an Inspiron 5547 last week ( Dell 15 5000 , i5 , 1 TB , 8GB RAM) , it looks and works alright nothing exceptional. I have had 2 dell laptops over the past 8+ years and they have served me well. I use the tap to click a lot and I have gotten used to it. 

I usually tap or move my finger over a short distance say half an inch or so, the mouse on screen moves a small distance and immediately moves back to its original position. If i repeat the finger action just like before, the mouse instead of moving across the screen, just jumps and goes back to its original position. I have never faced this issue in my previous laptops. I went to Bestbuy and office depot and checked out a few of the laptops on display and tried to repeat this , I see the same issue among them. Not sure if Dell knows about it. 

I noticed that the issue goes away when i remove "Tap to click" option. I did also notice that this issue is not there for any of the previous versions of the Synaptic Drivers. I am not sure if i should sit around waiting for a fix or just return the laptop.I am pretty frustrated about this issue.

Hi People,
I'm having a wake up from sleep mode problem with my DELL VOSTRO 2521 since some months.
My pc has two graphic cards: Intel 4000 and ATI AMD Radeon.
I've tried many solutions but I do have this problem even today.
When I shut the computer down with the sleep option or when I close the lid, sometimes the pc even refuses to sleep, when it sleeps it won't wake up unless I hard turn off it using the on/off button.

I tried the solutions proposed in the following link and many other ones:

1. Power management tab solutions: Allow this device to wake the computer...

2. Selective startup and services desabling

3. use Powercfg command to check the issue

4. Control panel>Power options>change when computer sleeps>change advanced power settings> Sleep> ... > Multimedia

 

I see some people talk about the BIOS, to check its settings for sleep, to disable the BIOS setting "USB wake up" . I didn't try it cause i'm not sure about the result.

Also in Device Manager, to go to Keyboards, right click on the Keyboard device, click on properties, Click on the Power Management tab, and click the check box:  "allow this device to wake the computer."  Uncheck the box that say's "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.

And to do the same as above for the "Mice and other pointing devices."

But I can't do with my Keyboard, cause there is no Power Management tab on mine.

Please I need your help, cause I really do use sleep mode every day, and this problem makes me so tired so far.

Received new 5748 laptop today. Made a bootable factory restore disc + external hdd boot up image. Removed the 1TB hdd that came with the laptop and installed my Samsung 840 SSD. Keep getting an error trying to do the restore onto the SSD.

Could someone please explain how I install windows 8 on my SSD with no installation cd as it was not provided with the laptop.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i have dell 15r 5521 inspiron series laptop, few days ago i got problems with windows 8 so i decided to install windows 7, i did that but now when the installation ended, i am not able to turn iff uefi and turn on legacy boot, and windows 7 do not load with uefi turned on. When i turn off the uefi and turn on lagecy boot, laptop do not start it gives message "DECOMPILATION AND DISASSEMBLY PROHIBITED" and gives beeps to access windows 7 i have press power button more than 20 second only then i am able to access windows 7 from legacy boot. And am not able to use UEFI boot because the hdd is in MBR and uefi can only be accessed through GPT drive structure. Help me to access windows 7 with legacy boot.

Hi,

I am planning to buy a Dell Precision M 4800 mobile workstation. I would need this to run memory and processor intensive Oracle VmWare images.

Does this support Intel VT-X technology, so that i can run VMware virtual machine on top of it. when i spoke with Dell chat representative, he said

it is supported, but no you cannot, through VM ware

"technically yes it will work,
we do not recommend it, as we did not tested it on M 4800"

I gave preference to Dell instead of Lenovo W540 which is coming at better price.

Is this good to buy or any other model would you recommend.

I have a Latitude E6540, and I'd like to purchase a skin for the lid to prevent scratches.  Skin-it and other vendors don't have one that's specific to this model.  Are there other related models that are the same size that I should look for on the sites?

Hello,

I have a Dell Inspiron N5010 and about one year ago it starting booting slowly. I have googled the issue and tried many solutions.

I created a second partition and installed a vanilla Windows 7 on it and booted into it and it still boots slowly.

I've tried every form of optimization that various sites, including you, have told other people in forums. Drivers, defragmentation, chmod, and various other things I can't remember.

It takes about 3-5 minutes for a cold boot and about 9 minutes from hibernation. Sleep mode works normally.

I don't know what the issue could be. There's only two more things I have not done: backup and reformat the whole drive and update bios.

I have recorded me starting my laptop in safe-mode to show that the drivers load very slowly:

I've just bought aDell XPS 15 XPS15-4737sLV from an online vendor, but cannot for the life of me find a manual. Is there another name for this model? Could this be the L521x?

I want to check RAM specs to order an upgrade before it comes in, but can't find the specs online.

Inspiron14Z (5423) mid 2012.

Dropped computer during move,lost all the disks and paperwork.Hard drive was damaged so purchased new one locally..Downloaded ISO win 7 86,installed used original validation.

It booted up all fine but no drivers for mouse or Ethernet or wifi actually no drivers.Mouse works.

How can I download the drivers and save them to CD/DVD and install on machine.If could get on internet would help but can't get on with Ethernet or wifi.Can I purchase another sisk/disks to install?

Hello, I have the following:

1. Dell E6430 Latitude Laptop

2. Windows 7 Pro 64 bit

3. Dell E - Port Plus II Docking Station

The brand new, out of the box E- Port Plus II Docking Station I just received has no functioning USB ports - five of them.  I have a Latitude E6430 laptop docked in an E-Port Plus II Docking Station. There was an alert posted by Dell stating a compatability issue with certain laptops, but my laptop was listed as being compatible. All of my deviices (mouse, keyboard, cam, headset, and flash drives require USB ports, so i am stuck.

The docking station came with a four page fold out describing how to dock one's laptop into it (in 4 languages), even though the instructions are so simple an illiterate Yananamo would be able to complete the installation despite never having heard of electricity. There are no trouble shooting tips on dell.com that I could find, so I am turning to the Dell community for help. Any ideas would certainjly be better then the violent thoughts I am experiencing against the docking station. So, any help would be appreciated,

    I have imported my laptop through our relative from US in 2011.Before one month my laptop stooped working.LED screen is not working and there is a 8-beep sound coming from laptop.I have requested for TAG transfer because I want to service my laptop in dell service centre in india.But there is no acknowledgement from DELL regarding TAG transfer.I have requested before 10 days.

Hi All,

Please help, I have problem with my laptop dell 3420. there are no display when I turn it on, after maybe 30 second any beep code 4 times. 

I was reseat the memory, change with another memory but nothing different.

Je suis le DSI de la chaine Iberostar en Tunisie notre parc informatique est composé essentiellement de matériel informatique de la marque DELL.Le 07/03/2014 j'ai acheté un PC Portable DELL dont le numéro de série est <Admin Note: removed per privacy policy~RK> il est tombé en panne après 4 mois suite à une panne au niveau de l'écran et un problème au niveau de l'autonomie de la batterie, je l'ai envoyé au représentant DELL en Tunisie et ils m'ont changé l'écran et la batterie Un mois Après l'avoir récupéré j'ai remarqué que la mise en veille qui suit la fermeture du capot ne fonctionne plus, et que la carte réseau intégré aussi ne focntionne plus.J'ai envoyé à nouveau le PC pour remplacement le 17/11/2014 sous le numéro d'appel : <Admin Note: removed per privacy policy~RK>.

Je sollicite votre intervention le changement de mon Pc Portable
