Cannot access BIOS on Dell Inspiron
Model: Inspiron 17R Special Edition Inspiron 17R Notebook (Inspiron 7720), Windows 8, 64-bit,English
My laptop was installing updates (not sure which updates) when the battery suddenly died. I charged it and ever since every time I turn it on, it gives me an error message and I'm unable to log into my system
error message is: BAD_SYS-CONF_INFO
I've tried accessing the BIOS with F2 button upon start up many times to check the settings but no luck. Pressing F2 constantly right when the Dell logo appears does absolutely nothing.
Any help to get back into Windows without reinstalling and losing everything would be greatly appreciated!

xps 13 l322x - Won't boot or run ePSA diagnostics
I have a xps 13 l322x that won't boot up. It shut down after battery died, it was plugged in to charge and it wont' turn back on.
When power button is pressed the LED in front of the touch pad blinks once.
The F12 with the power key does the BIST and the colors show up.
THIS DOES NOT RUN ==> To run the Enhanced Pre-boot System Assessment (ePSA) diagnostics on a Dell Portable, perform the steps below:
- Shutdown the computer.
- Press and Hold the <Fn> key while pressing the power button, then release both.
- A graphical menu listing all discovered devices in the system is now displayed and the express diagnostics should run (Takes about 4 minutes).
I removed the battery, pressed the power key to completely drain, repeated the above and same result.
It's a solid state drive, so I am not sure if I should hear any noises when the power key is pressed, but there are no noises. The fan does not engage. Nothing, just the one LED blink one time.

Inspiron 7720 won't power up
My laptop turn will not power up, circumstances I shut it down yesterday, packed it up, when I tried turning it on an hour later at school I couldn't get it to turn on.
Is this a hardware issue that can be repaired?
Computer: Inspiron 7720-17R, i17Rse-3589BK, Intel i7-3630QM
A. I have checked the power chord it works on my older backup Inspiron17, I two power adaptors the work. the original Dell and an after market rocket fish. both work on my older model Inspiron 17.
B. Without the power chord: open the lid, press the power button, it does not turn on the computer on or light up, none of the indicator lights do not light up.
C. When I plug the power adaptor in to laptop:
1. the power indicator light on the laptop does not light up showing it is plugged in.
2. pressing the press the power button it does not turn light up or turn the computer on, none of indicator lights do not light up.
3. (Original Dell power adaptor) the blue light at the end of the power chord goes out.
4. (Rockfish aftermarket power adaptor) the blue light on the adaptor goes from a solid blue to a blinking blue light.

Keyboard for XPS 12 has stopped working
My keyboard suddenly stopped working after waking my computer up from sleep. The on screen and touch keyboard still function normally as well as the mouse touch pad built into the laptop, but the physical keyboard does not. The LED for the CAPS LOCK button wont even light up when pressed. The keyboard back lights however do turn on and off when the computer is powered on or flipped between tablet and laptop mode.
I have tried restarting the computer on several occasions as well as doing a complete shut down. I have updated all drivers and even uninstalled all of my keyboard drivers to no effect. I have tried running a diagnostic, but I either get an error that says the diagnostic could not run or that no data has been collected by the testing. All other scans of my computer show no issues.
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

HDD Salvage from drowned XPS 14Z
My XPS 14Z was drowned in the water and no more power on. So I took off the HDD from PC and connected it in another Windows 7 PC. Now I could see the HDD with partition in Disk Management but those partition show as RAW.
I tried TestDiks but no luck. Also I tried lost data restore program. Then I could see all files in the program and successes to restore the files in PC's HDD. But I could not open any restored files. The file size is correct but all files are showed as damaged when I open.
Please help to salvage my data.

I'm looking for a downloadable recovery image for a Dell Inspiron 15R 5520 Windows 7. I had Linux on it since I bought it and now the wife wants to sell it and need to re-install windows. I deleted the recovery partition also, so I'm stuck trying to find a bootable installation disc.

I have a dell laptop when I log in using my password it will not let me log in, if I type in the wrong password it says that the password is wrong I cannot get this to go to safe mode either. What can I do? I have not backed up my computer.

Dell e6410 Windows 7 will not load after doing a windows update
I purchased a refurbished Dell e6410 about a year ago. The Laptop was working find with no issues. But in mid August, I did a windows 7 update... After the update, windows restarted... But instead of booting up to windows... It went to "startup repair". It ran this several times until is said it could not repair the startup.
I ended up having to do a recovery and reload windows and re-image my HD... After doing that, I tried windows update again. Same issue. after windows update... It would just got to startup repair.
Again, I had to restore my OS and re-image my drive. I tested and checked the HD and go no errors. Ran disk check and disk check /r... But if I tried to run a windows update it would just go into startup repair and I would eventually have to just reload my os and re-image the drive.
I spoke to an agent from Dell about it... He suggested I wait a month before trying to do the windows update. Perhaps they have a bug.
So I waited two months and tried an update again, last night. This time, I would get the dell logo, with f12 option, that would go away and then "windows is loading necessary files", but then the screen would go black and dell screen came up gain, then "windows is loading necessary files". I let it do this for almost an hour. Windows never started... I had no option to get into safe mode or any other boot modes.
Has anyone experienced this issue with their dell e6410? I have a regular desk top pc that I have done windows update and it has no issues.
I am running windows 7 64bit.

ERROR - 0146, HOW BAD IS IT?
Hi to All. I have INSPIRON 1545 with W7. After start it's goin' to 2 'starting windows' black screen with color dots assembly in to window and that's it , after this is only black screen. I did diagnostic and its 0146-error. Is it bad ? fix it or bin it ? LIGHT ME ON PLEASE.

XPS 15 will not boot (no sound, nothing) after minor spillage on keyboard
Hi everyone
I got an XPS 15 very recently from Dell Outlet. Within 48 hours I managed to accidentally spill some whisky on the keyboard. I immediately turned it off by holding the power button in til it cut out. I dried it and left it inverted and upside down for 24 hours. When I tried to turn it on again, nothing. There was no sound, no lights, no response of any kind, not even a whirr of a fan.
I am a bit surprised at this since it is supposed to have a spill resistant keyboard. The whole point of me going for Dell was a great experience with the robustness of my old latitude d630.
I only have a 1 yr standard warranty.
The battery has 60% charge, it won't boot with ac adapter plugged in or out. Battery and adapter seem fine. Any ideas folks? I'm assuming the fact that there is zero response from the computer at all gives some indication of which component is bust? Could it be the on button itself? Is there any other way of turning it on?

TCIP error Default Gateway
Error by TCIP – Resetting erroneous Default Gateway at laptop shutdown: I have 3 Dell Inspiron Laptops with both Ethernet and WIFI capability. I use them at both my home and my office.
My office has a Comcast Business Class modem. My home has an Xfinity SMC modem (model SMCD3GNV). When at home connected to either Ethernet or WIFI the TCIP addressing works correctly. All there machines are set to automatic DHCP addressing.
At the office, whether Ethernet or WIFI connected, the Default Gateway is set to 192.168.21.220. The required Default Gateway = 192.168.21.1. Therefore they will connect to the Comcast Business modem but will not open any WEB pages. To get access to WEB pages on all three machines I have to do one of the following: (1) Uninstall the Network devices and then scan to reinstall them. That resets the Default Gateway to the required 192.168.21.1 o (2) use CMD to release and renew the IP address. That resets to the correct Default Gateway or (3) Reconfigure the TCIP settings to fix the Default Gateway to 192.168.21.1. If I do that then the computers cannot be used to access a WEB page if not connected to the office modem. I would then have to reset the TCIP addressing back to automatic. I have several desktop Dell computers in my office which do not have this problem behavior. Only the laptops reset to the 192.168.21.220 Default Gateway when shut down.
I have spent several hours with Comcast advanced tech support and with Dell Advanced tech support, but neither can explain what causes the resetting or how to truly fix it.
One of the 3 Dell Insipiron laptops is just newly delivered and fresh out of the box with the initial Windows setup. No software added or and changes in settings. It behaves this way right from the Dell factory.
Can anyone tell me what causes the behavior and how to actually fix it other than manual work around?

Inspiron 17 i7737T-4994sLV keys hard to see
I have a new Dell 17 laptop, that has a backlit keyboard.....the problem is the keys are very hard to see. This is for two reasons: one, the are all silver and the lettering is very faint - two, the backlighting is very weak. The Dell part number for the keyboard is P4G0N.....my question is this: does Dell make a keyboard that will fit this laptop that has no backlight and is black with white letters on the keys?

dell inspiron 14z-5423 shutting down after sleep mode or closing the screen.
Only way to restart is to press down the power button. HELP!
I've already tried several things (BIOS, video driver replacement) unsuccessfully. Any suggestions/ideas greatly appreciated

Just recently when I unplug the power cord from my laptop it starts making a really loud beeping sound and wont stop until I plug the cord back in I have no idea whats going on.

Inspiron 1720 updated with A09 BIOS (winsows 7) , issue with battery charge want to downgrade back to VISTA

I have installed Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 on my laptop after upgrading fom A08 to A09. At first my batter did not charge at all , so i got it replaced with a 9 Cell one. But it would only vharge till 69%.
I tried all the way on internet uninstalling drivers, removing battery, draining it out etc. Still no chnage. Lately it is now charging only till 33% .
I called up the Dell servcie center and they said this is not a battery issue some setting in BIOS new to be changed and they gided me to some service center . I checked the BIOS fot any settings on Battery and i did not ssee any option.
Now i Plan to go back to Vista Home premuim just to see if the battery charges fine. My question is do i also downgrade the BIOS or should i check first if it works fine in A09 and then install A08.
And is it safe to install A08 over A09 BIOS ?

Only btg keys only work

XPS 15 adaptive brightness setting
I recently bought an XPS15 and everything seems good apart from the adaptive brightness setting. I find it quite distracting but can't figure out how to disable it?
I've tried setting the power management profiles to maximum performance but it doesn't make a difference.
Any suggestions?

Blank screen before signing in in inspiron 5521.
I got some update for my laptop last night. After clicking install I didn't see my laptop for sometime. Later the screen was blank and only the mouse pointer is visible. I don't know whether updates are installed. I can use the laptop only in safe mode. If I run in normal mode it gives same blank screen before signing in. Please help.
