Just received my model 5748 and noticed the power and battery status light never lights up - not for power up, not for battery status.
Thought maybe it would not light when power adapter was plugged in - so I unplugged it - still no indication at all.
Is there something I'm not noticing?

My Dell i3 is extremely slow.
It permanently shows a "(Not Responding)" message at the top left corner of the screen or a "Waiting for Cache" message at the bottom left corner.
May I please get some feedback on what the problem could be and some suggestions to fix it?

I bought an RFB Dell Precision M4800 (Tag:<ADMIN NOTE: Service tag removed per privacy policy>).When I used my laptop in the ark. My keyboard hadn't been enlighten.
I tried follow some suggestion as: install Dell Feature Enhancement Pack v2.2.1
But I didn't find "Dell Keyboard Backlight Settings" on control panel as guidance.
Can you tell me what happened with my keyboard & solution?

Some time ago I noticed that there is no audio coming out of the HDMI output in my company's Latitude E6420. I've tried different fixes that can be found by googling, but none seem to work, I did the following steps without success:
- Disabled "High definition audio device" in order to force the system use the HDMI audio output, didn't work.
- Updated the latest Nvidia NVS4200 drivers, didn't work.
- Uninstalled the "High Definition audio device" to see if it worked by chance, didn't work.
The last step made things worse, since now the speakers won't work at all, not even after reinstalling the "High definition audio device" default driver. Windows shows me the "No speakers or headphones plugged in" message. I don't really know what else should I do. I already ran the system diagnostics (from the bootup menu) and the sounds play fine.

I clean installed Windows 8.1 on my XPS 12 soon after I got it because it was getting too sluggish. I've recently been reading that there is a mode called Desktop mode which prevents to laptop from being on constant charge when it is plugged in.
Usually I charge to 100%, disconnect, then charge again when it reaches 10% but this would be much more convenient if I could just leave it plugged in.
Can someone let me know how to install the desktop mode option? I've looked through the driver and downloads list and installed Dell Quickset but I don't think that's what I'm looking for.

Latitude E7240 has Touchpad Alps. All works fine except settings "Flick" (Gestures -> Multi Finger Gestures).
This setting works, but after some time (random period) stops working. To fix this I need restart Apoint.exe or go to settings, deselect Flick and select it again.
My laptop's BIOS has latest version A11 and all drivers installed from web site Dell.
Also, I tried to install Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 with touchpad drivers only, but this did not solve problem.
Please help me solve this problem.
I bought DELL Inspiron 15r N7520 a year back with windows 8 in it, since then I am continuously facing multiple issues , I updated my windows 8 to 8.1 so it was asking for key I searched a lot but never found any sticker on laptop or any CD , I found no way to go back so I tried installing another windows by boot and while doing so I face so many problems at last I went to command prompt diskpart and CLEAN ALL . It removed each and everything I have no way to recover refresh or any other. No option seems to be working for me. And even I don't have dell backup and recovery. If I try to insall windows8 by DVD it gives an error of key doesn't match . Is there any way to install windows without sending my laptop to Dell ?? :( :(
I have been facing an issue of startup since one year.Many time, while starting ,dell logo doesn't appear and it stucks at that point showing only black screen....and some time if it appears dell logo,but it stucks before password screen. Its really irritating moment...plz help me to solve this problem.Although,I had tried to update BIOS..but i couldn't. My Bios version is A08

Has anyone else bought a laptop and the first time you log in it has a virus, malware, popups,etc? I am so mad about this! I bought a NEW laptop and feel Dell sent me a used one! I called Dell-The guy on the line told me to call Micro Soft " We don't fix your laptop" I told him I wanted to return it, "We don't take laptop returns" Then he told me to call Micro Soft! They got into ithe laptop through the connection and pulled up a page that showed all the virus, etc. REALLY? WOW, Dell would do nothing about it-that little chat with Microsft cost me $150!! Another trip to Office Max to complete the fix cost me another $180.00.
I doubt I will ever buy another laptop from Dell. I have bought at least 6 computers from Dell and have never had this disappointment. Why doesn't Dell stand behind what they sell?

The Intel Rapid Storage Technology service is no longer working on my system (Dell Inspiron 7720 SE); there is an exclamation point next to the SATA SSD device that came with the system (SAMSUNG SSD PM830 mSATA 32GB), and the status of the disk is "unknown."
I have downloaded the Samsung Magician program, which typically automatically identified Samsung hard drives, but it fails to find this hard drive so I am unable to run any sort of diagnostics on it. The system recognizes that the drive exists, but there is no way to get it to work with the Intel RST service anymore.
I have updated the BIOS, to no avail.
If anybody can recommend a fix to the problem, short of buying a new mSATA drive, I would greatly appreciate it.

I have a Dell Inspiron 5521 laptop. it does not boot. No light on screen at all. on power on it makes a loud clicking sound that seems to comes through the speakers. it has seven distinct clicks, a pause and seven clicks a again. I have removed the hard drive and it does the same thing. anyone have any idea what the problem is?
