Hello

  for a little home project I bought a Latitude E4310 motherboard with integrated CPU and graphcis. I put a heatsink/fan on it, a 2Gb memory module, and daughter board with a VGA port. I've tried to boot this system by 1)plugging a power source and a monitor directly, and 2)docking it with a docking station that has the power and monitor connected to it. In both cases I get the three leds light up and I can see the fan spin for a few seconds. Then, after two or three seconds (monitor is still black), everything shuts down. The CPU area feels warm to touch (but not too hot). Is there any other component needed to boot the system? I won't even get to the DELL logo or the BIOS before it shuts down.

Edit: I forgot to mention that I've tried three different motherboards of the same model and three different RAM modules. All three boards are refurbished, supposedly fully functional, from two different sellers. I think it's unlikely that they are all bad and failing in the same manner.

i need to buy a laptop to work in softwares like AnSYS MATLAB SOLIDWORKS & SO On...whether VOstro 3546 supports it or is ther any other laptop with best configuration to support that

My laptop(Inspiron 7537) is making some high pitch noise occasionally and also when I run something graphic intensive and it is quite annoying. Please help me in this

I installed a new hard drive in a dell isnpiron 1525 and installed windows vista 32bit. After installing all drivers and updates, I am still not able to use the web cam. 

When I test my video on skype, or go through the dell webcam software, or go online--regardless what I use to access the webcam--the blue light turns on, however I get no picture. The laptop has no issues seeing that the webcam is plugged in to the motherboard. It is just not receiving any video. 

I've searched extensively for a solution. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers, dell's camera software, I've disabled and reenabled the webcam in the device manager. I'm not sure what to do anymore.

I have read that there is a windows update that breaks the camera but I have yet to find a fix. Thanks.

Hi all - about a month ago my system took a dive - I started it up and it took 20 minutes to boot Windows. I shut it down and it never booted Windows again. 

I have no idea what happened. I have run diagnostics and they have either passed or they stop right in the middle and I am back to a blank, black screen. 

I tried looking here on the Dell website and there is no info - the Knowledge base seems to contain nothing...

I could really use a computer whiz to walk me through what I can do.

Hi All,

I am owning Inspiron 1545 laptop and i own a TV which has only HDMI inputs. Kindly advice the cheapest way to connect the laptop to the TV's HDMI Input.

My understanding is: Inspiron 1545 does not have HDMI outputs, only VGA.

Hello,

I had to have my motherboard replaced because of some audio issues and after I got my laptop back i noticed something that hadn't been happening before.

As soon as I turn on my laptop the fan start working extremely loud with cold air coming out. I know that the fan is supposed to be this loud when laptop is close to overheating, but I don't see the point of being this loud while everything is on normal temperature  (checked with SpeedFan) and laptop doesn't feel hot at all.

Hi,

I would like to upgrade my processor, I currently have a Dell Inspiron 1564

Intel(R) Core(TM) i3 CPU M350 @ 2.27GH

I think I could get a i5 but I do not know exactly which one is compatible with this laptop, is it possible to get some advice on this?

I have an Dell Inspiron 17 7000 series I purchased in Oct. 2013.  Dedicated Nvidia graphics card.  Windows 8 was preinstalled.  An update in the spring of 2014 caused my touchscreen to stop working.  I did not use my computer much and did not realize the touchscreen was not working until August.  I contacted service in September for several reasons 1.) computer would not wake up from sleep 2.) touchscreen not working 3.) sometimes the system would not shut down getting 'stuck' at black screen and lit keyboard and I would have to do a hard restart and after updating my bios nothing was resolved.  A tech came out twice, once replacing the screen unit as a whole, the frame unit around my keyboard and the underneath 'carriage' for the drive and motherboard.  It worked for a day and some other problems presented including not booting past the dell logo screen.  The tech came out and replaced my mother board,  This resolved the post frame replacement issues but the touchscreen still does not work and I have to have the computer on awake all the time because it still will not wake if it goes to sleep although I have not since had the shutdown issue.  I have done a diagnosis using Dell's online tool and all systems pass but it does not appear to test the touchscreen.  Please let me know how to message you the express tag number.  thank you in advance for your help

Hi,

I bought already 2 different cables for my external eSATA port to have an external 3,5" Hard drive for my personal files on my laptop. So far only small 2,5" Hard drive work with the cables but my 3,5" Hard drive will not even start to spin. 
I researched It before and I believe it the port should support 12V for the big 3,5" Hard drive.

Do I have to turn something on / off in the BIOS?

Do I have to upgrade some drivers?

Does someone get a 3,5" Hard drive get to work on his M17X ??

Is my laptop to old to support the 12V?

I really need this to get work because I have to much personal files what I need on my laptop and I would have them secure on a external Hard drive.

Hi there,

I was busy replacing my laptop screen on my inspiron (second time in 4 months!) and this time the screen doesn't turn on turn on when I start it. I can hear the OS running in the background and it make all the boot sounds.

There must be something I've done while reassembling the pc, but what?!

Please help me find out what needs to be fixed.

I started getting an error msg saying the rapid start was not enabled. I tried many time to get it to go and then uninstalled it. Well now it will not install. I get a msg saying it does not meet the requirements. The BIOs shows it enabled.

I downloaded the file from the driver section again but no joy in getting it to install.

Suggestions?

Hello, i have a problem with my Dell Vostro 500 and i can not determine if my charger is good or faulty. My laptop is working but it does not detect charger (detects as unknown device). My battery is on idle and i am pretty shore that is bad and it needs replacing. My question, is it possible that if battery is faulty, or not detected, it causes charger to be also not detected or detected as unknown device. Thanks!

I have a 4 year old Dell Inspiron laptop. It was working fine until about 30 minutes ago, when it randomly shut off and wouldn't turn back on. I put the laptop on hibernate mode and as soon as I typed in my password, it just shut off. I tried to put it on the charger, but the laptop didn't even blink to indicate it was charging. I've tried turning it back on and resetting it, but nothing seems to be working. I removed the battery and put it back in and it was on, but as soon as i tried to update the laptop, it shut off again. Does anyone have any idea as to why it shut off?

Also, this is my sister's old laptop. She had it for college when it randomly stopped working. It would turn on but wouldn't run the windows. Last year, my dad was able to restore the hard drive and it was working fine, up until now.

My dell Inspiron 14 refuses to power on. When I plug the power adapter to it, the indicator light on the power adapter goes off and wont come back on for some minute. Till this moment my PC of about a year and 4 months wll not poer on neither is it making any attempt. It just remains dead. What do I do?

I purchased my dell laptop in late 2011, my warranty expired mid 2014. Had CD rom drive replaced for second or third time as they seem to continually become faulty after a 6-12 month period. My question is when this new CD rom drive is replaced does that part come with a new parts warranty or does it come under the original warranty for the whole laptop?

Hello, i have a laptop inspiron n5110 and before two days stop working. i check the power supply and does not work so i change the power supply ....i have to mention that nothing working... not light for power or any other light on the pc. first i change the power supply with an aftermarket ac  model 90W 19V INNERGIE mCube 90 nothing happen so i decide to  buy a dell ac part number is DELL LA90PE1-01 . is the model DELL LA90PE1-01 ok for my laptop???because even with this ac still nothing happens. no power light nothing ....the only think that i have notice is when i take out the battery and press the power button a noise very very very low ...a noise like a continues beep comes out from the pc but is very very low. i never check for the ac jack input but i think is a little bit loose and is moving.. but i don't know if it was like this always.  i try the method take out the but press power button 30 secs etc but nothing happen. any one with a suggest what it is the problem?

my warranty is for parts only as i can see online the service number is<ADMIN NOTE: service request number removed per privacy policy> i am an IT but i don't know if i have the warranty for parts if i open to see what can be the problem. if its the power board or even the motherboard. some one from the dell support can help me with this?? if i open the laptop i will lost the warranty for the parts? how can i order parts from the warranty with out paying ???
