I recently reinstalled windows 7 64bit on my friends computer but there are several hardware items that are not functioning properly, like the network controller and USB controller to name a couple. Is there a pack that I can download that contains ALL the drivers in one file that can be executed and get the system up and running again? If so, where can i get it? If not, how do I find out what components they have so I download the right drivers?

I have a Dell inspiron 5420 laptop and it shows black screen whenever I turn it on. Last night I have worked on my laptop and it was working fine but today morning when I turn it on, power LED lights up but the screen remain black and I am not sure what to do. I have already tried the 'flea power' idea of removing battery & power adapter but it's not working for me.
Apart from this, I have purchased this laptop from India & currently I have moved to germany for my studies and this laptop is under warranty. Can you provide me the contact details for tech support in germany ( who can communicate in english).
Please help me out on this ASAP.

DVD tests good but when I try to access error says "insert disk"
Since a few days ago, my Inspiron 17R no longer recognizes when it is unplugged from the AC adapter. This means that when you check the power icon it always claims to be connected, even if it's not, and that the charge meter basically can't be trusted (it'll say it's fully charged when it's not). It also means that it fails to adhere to its power plans because it never goes into battery-only mode. I have contacted my local Dell tech support, but after checking my bios and seeing that my computer recognizes the AC adapter, they didn't know what to do. Is anyone here familiar with this problem and knows how to get my laptop to properly recognize when it is and isn't plugged into the power supply?
Keyboard will freeze or lockup after the laptop sleeps or hibernates. the system will act like it's coming back to life but the keyboard and mouse/pad are unresponsive. I do not have zonealarm installed. all updates are installed. I ran Dells diagnostic and nothing was found bad.

Purchased a large number of these laptops and I am having several problems with the touchscreen not working. The laptop doesn't even see the hardware. I reloaded the OS, re-seated all connections and it still does not fix it. With the screens on back order, can anyone tell me if they have had this issue? Out of the 10 I repair a week, 8 are touchscreens not working. Is this a known issue?
Selling my laptop and downloaded the recommended freeware program to sweep my HD clean, Active@KillDisk. Ran it and swept clean the HD, with the intention of reloading Windows 7 Home Premium which is what the N4110 (Inspiron 14R) came with from Dell in 2011. No discs came with the computer but I Google'd and found a site that offered Windows 7 64 bit to download, which I did on my flash drive.
I inserted the flash drive, booted @ F12 to load via USB drive and Windows started to process for a minute or two, then froze at a point in which it was announced that "A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing", at which time I hit "Browse", and opened just about every folder and subfolder on the flash drive, looking for anything resembling a driver program. After going on the Dell Support site and doing a search for that error, it was recommended to download Intel's "Rapid Storage Technology Enterprise" and "Management Console" drivers which I did, on to the same flash drive with Windows 7 ISO, and still the computer stopped at the same point and again I browsed for the two files recently uploaded and they did not appear anywhere on the Flash Drive.
I am stuck now with no operating system but (I believe) a fully functional HD and CD/DVD drive. Any suggestions on getting an OS loaded? I did have an OEM disc from an older Dell desktop with Windows XP Professional that I did get a little further with, but then the blue-screen-of-death appeared both times I tried that. I was hoping to leap-frog from XP to 7 in an attempt to override the drivers error.

I have a dell inspiron laptop. The laptop came with windows 8 and no product key sticker, and I upgraded to windows 8.1.
I did not make a backup although I realize I should have...
Anyway, my hard drive crashed and at startup I can only reach the UEFI settings and the boot settings. I can't repair the OS. There is a black screen saying "Operaton System not found".
I booted using a USB with ubuntu. Testdisk cannot repair the drive but I can access the ESP and WINRETOOLS partitions. I also accessed my product key through ubuntu but since it is an OEM licence the windows 8 installation won't let me use it.
I also booted with a windows 7 USB and tried using the repair option, but it can't detect an OS.
I bought a new hard drive and I want to install windows 8 on it. Does anyone know how to do it without having to buy a new windows licence?
Hey guys. wonder if maybe someone can give me some insight or if anyone else is having this issue. I had an older Alienwarem17x for like 3-4 years with no problems. Decided to get a newer one this year back in April. By August I started having huge memory spikes on it. I pretty much use it to play mmos and browse the internet, and watch twitch.
Everything was fine for the first couple months and by mid July-August I started noticing anywhere from 9 to 15.7 out of my 16 GB of memory being used. And this is just with one game and a couple browser tabs open. I check task manager and I notice a lot of smaller things running but nothing major. Thought maybe it was my Trend Micro, but would start my laptop without it, and after awhile it would still spike up. I have to do periodic restarts on my laptop to wipe everything and get back down to the usual 2-4 GB usage. The only thing I can see if it has something to do with Google Chrome or Twitch. But the problem doesn't happen all the time. Maybe about 40%. i find myself having to restart maybe once or twice a night. Even right now while I'm typing this I just have 1 Chrome tab open, and my task manager and I'm using 9.1 out of 16 Gbs. Will probably restart again to wipe whatever is causing so much loss.
Some background. I'm currently using 2 external monitors but have the main laptop display off. One through HDMI and one Through the external dvi port.

Any thoughts? I did a factory restore back in August to see if maybe it would correct something. Maybe an update that wasn't working properly. The issue returned almost a week after that.
Inspiron 17R (7720) I accidentally switched the computer off at the power button and now the backlit keyboard and quick launch keys are not working! I have tried:
Restarting the computer
Shutting down and restarting
(FN) + (F6) keys
Installing the latest version of QuickSet.exe
Under services running I can see that "Adaptive Brightness" is stopped along with a bunch of other services. QuickSet is set to run at startup but can't see it in services.

I've recently acquired my better half's Dell Studio 1749 Laptop, and as I like to personalize my gear I'd like to be able to change the BIOS Splash screen Logo from the Dell Logo currently used to something else.
I have tried the old 'splash.exe' but the system is incompatible with that old piece of software.
Does Dell technical team know of an application that will allow me to make the changes I'd like to make, and is it available to me?

I'd like to use Word (and Libre Office) because the latter has fonts that intrigue me. Now for sure, I better delete a portion of the many photos stored.

I want to start off by saying I'm new to this community, and look forward to exploring this forum.
I have had this laptop for several years now, and have not started having problems with it until a few months ago. My laptop would not want to turn on, along with the charging LED. I had a technician come in and replace my motherboard and charging port, then it worked again. My most current situation is slightly different.
Earlier one day I had put the laptop to sleep until I got home. I got home, opened the laptop, and just saw a black screen. I had tried to somehow wake the computer up, but the power button was on with no response whatsoever. I plugged my laptop charger in hoping for anything, but had no luck. I ultimately removed the battery and tried turning it on with just the battery again, with both the battery in and power plug in, but nothing worked. I found the fact that the charging LED on the laptop comes on when plugged in, but the nothing else including the power button would come on.
I had tried some of the basic problem solvers like removing everything and holding the power button down for ten seconds then plugging everything back in and trying again, but still no luck.
I wanted to see if anyone could help me before I call tech support again.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had purchased dell vostro 3546 with ubuntu installed.After downloading gparted application i tried to partition as i wanted to install windows7 and I have by mistake deleted the boot flag.I might have mistakenly formatted the other partitons to ntfs.Now the system wont boot and ends up showing a blank screen.
Now can I just go ahead and freshly install windows7 or is my deleting the boot flag in gparted going to cause a problem?
P.S:I do not want ubuntu on my system anyway for any dual boot.I do not need any backup either as its a new system.So if it gets uninstalled its alright.Please help.
I have this alienware m17x which I bought last year. Recently I have noticed a reduced battery life.
I used a software called CPUID HWMonitor and it indicates that my battery wear level is 41%. The designed battery capacity is over 80000mAh. Now the full charge capacity is about 50000mAh.
It think it's time for me to change my battery?????
