Enable Infrared IrDA Port ? (LM M166ST)
I wish to enable the Infrared IrDA port on an LM M166ST notebook but it is not listed under peripherals in the F2 Setup screen - only Video Mode, Touch Pad & CD-ROM Drive Speed are visible.
Does anyone know how to enable the IrDA port ? TIA

Dell Studio 1450, Unable to create WiFi hotspot

I am using a Dell Studio 1450(mid 2009) laptop. I am unable to create a WiFi hotspot. I checked the status of the WLAN drivers and it showed that "Hosted Network is not supported". Will updating the driver solve the problem? The driver details are shown below.

how to boot from cd/dvd
I have a Dell Inspiron N5010 laptop but my screen is broken so Im using a monitor to use it, But I want to reformat it and its not booting from cd how can I boot if from cd/dvd? I cant see the option in my monitor when I restart my laptop coz my screen is half broken I dont know how many click or scroll to hit the boot cd/dvd option can anyone please help me like step by step for like press this twice press arrow back twice press enter . like teaching a blind

Inspiron 14z Won't Stay Connected to Wi-Fi
My Inspiron 14z Ultrabook has always had a problem staying connected to Wi-Fi. Doesn't matter if I am on my home router, at a hotel, or anywhere else. It will never stay connected for more than a minute or so. Sending this message will be a hassle. Yet, where I am there are two desktops, two smartphones and an iPad that have a solid connection to the same router. It is only this laptop that has the problem.
If I look at the network connection on the taskbar, I see 5 bars, Connected and Internet Access, yet I am not really connected. I can usually get it to connect by opening the network menu, and clicking on the network I am using. It is extremely annoying. Is this an indication that I need another Wi-Fi/Bluetooth board?

Left Clicking problem and overall dissatisfaction with this laptop....
XPS L502X - Windows 7, i7, 8GB Ram, 64-Bit
Let's see before I state what my problem is. I'd like to give some background on this awful experience I've had with this laptop.
I bought this laptop in May 2012 and the reason I got it was due to the fact I had a previous XPS that lasted me 5 years till the hard drive finally gave out. Over due for an upgrade (loved that XPS). Now with this one I currently have, I've gotten the run around.
1) Ruffly two months into having this machine I had to have my motherboard replaced. (Alright, that's fine, it happens.)
2) Nearly a year goes by nothing too noticeable, besides it loading slow after I would log in and the desktop would take forever to load.
3) I start noticing significant problems a couple months later. I run a diagnostics, hard drive failure. After dealing with constant crashes and other glitches for months I finally decide to call support. Call Dell, explain that I ran the test and it said HD failure. Instead I'm told the problem is viruses and other junk that needs to be removed. Gentleman does it and it's running new again! Fast forward four to five months later I'm running into the same issue I had again. Dealt with it for a couple months again, ran the test once more HD failure. Made another call, told them I ran the test with the same result. Guy agreed with me when I told him I wanted a new Hard Drive. Technician comes to my house replaces my hard drive and my laptop is reborn... again!
4) Now for the problem I am having now a couple months after the HD replacement. This post is taking forever to write due to the fact that my mouse is CONSTANTLY LEFT CLICKING at or around the bottom left of the screen. I have done everything you can think of for this problem. When I leave my laptop on and go away for just a couple hours and come home, there are at least twenty different programs opened up on their own. Articles, forums, close computer wizard friends haven't helped me solve this. It's either no one has a clue or nothing works. To top it off about two weeks ago I had a technician from Dell take control of my laptop and "fix" the problem. For one day it worked. I'm so annoyed beyond belief, I haven't bothered calling back, yet.
To make this long story short, I am having a horrible experience for a laptop that is pretty beefy and I paid $1500 for. It's really pathetic. I've only had this for two in a half years and I don't know how I haven't thrown this under a steamroller. Thankfully I was smart enough to purchase the four year full coverage. With that being said, I am at a cross road with Dell. I'm going to start looking into switching to a MAC..... or I send this piece of trash in and you send me a brand new laptop.
For $1500 and as many problems that I have had within two years. I'm not about to wait another year in a half for Dell to keep putting band-aids on my laptop until my warranty runs out.

dell stopped making motherboards for my laptop studio1558. whats the solution???
my laptop is getting switched off abruptly and its mother board needs to be changed . but dell customer care says dell has stopped making spare parts of my laptop. now how will my laptop get repaired? does dell has no responsibility of providing aftersales service to its customers? shame on dell as they are not repairing my laptop....

Dell XPS L501X- Dell Quickset will not work even after installation.
I own a Dell XPS L501X, and I recently got it's motherboard changed. So, I installed Windows 8.1 Pro this time, and now the Dell Quickset Application won't work. It's installed but somehow it's not working as the programs just won't start. Please help.

Replacement power cord for Inspiron N4110
The power cord for my old (2010, I believe) Inspiron N4110 has recently stopped working and my laptop is no longer under warranty. I'm trying to find another one but all I can come up with is similar cords, car chargers, and unverified websites. Does anyone know which ones are compatible with my laptop and any reliable websites to get it from? The numbers on the adapter are NSW24431 and DP/N 0KT2MG.

Enter System Password
I have a problem with my girlfriends notebook Inspiron 15R N5010
I reseted the BIOS to factory defaults and since then it appears the message "Enter System Password" at boot up.
I NEVER set a password, so I don't know the password.
If I type 3 times a pass then the laptop turned off.
Need your help

laptop automatically returned to factory settings
I just purchased an inspiron 11-3147 2-in1. Set up 4 email accounts, downloaded necessary things. Rearranged the start screen to my needs and Used the computer over weekend, and put it away to keep for vacation. Opened it last nite and my entire start screen returned to when it was purchased, all my email accounts deleted. what happened. I thought it rather strange.

inspiron 14z (n411z) powers down seconds after start
I'm looking for some alternate ideas for the cause.
When I push the start button, it gets past the initial post and windows starts to boot, but then turns off.
If I try it again it doesn't make it that far, and if I try immediately, it might not do start at all.
So, sound like something overheating quickly, but what.
I've replaced the motherboard (used) - the behavior is exactly the same.
I've tried without battery or without power supply.
I've removed disk and optical drive.
Still the same.
I've removed memory. It beeps a lot at that, and then shuts down the same way.
So, I'm guessing that some other component that I haven't removed, or perhaps can't run without,
is the problem. But what?
I'm not sure how the fan is supposed to behave on this machine. It doesn't come on at startup, but not sure if it should. This all happens very quickly.
Any ideas?

1721 won't power up
on the 1721 inspiron, the Dell Media Direct works fine, powers up, and accesses all files. However, when I exit media direct and press the main power button, black screen and nothing happens. Battery and ac connection are good. So, what the hell???
