Not able to set up laptop after a factory reset. (Hdmi)
I have an inspiron 15 (3521) which I had connected to a hdmi due to the screen being broken. I tried to factory reset the laptop and I'm unable to see anything in order to actually set it up after it restarted. Is there a work around or do I need a new screen in order to see this?

Dell Inspiron 5537 webcam problem
I have a problem with webcam in my laptop - it switches off randomly - I can use it on skype for few minutes, then it switches off, I turn camera on skype again - it works for few minutes or few seconds, and all over again... I reinstalled drivers, tried to install dell webcam center - nothing helps.
Does anyone know the model of this camera? I suppose it's from Creative.
Windows 8.1 (unfortunately - provided with the hardware).

I've searched the Dell web site and the internet in general looking for a replacement CMOS battery and a replacement WLAN card for an Inspiron 14Z 5423.
I'm finding nothing. Perhaps i'm using the wrong search terms?
Is there a secret to finding laptop replacement/repair parts?

Dell inspiron 15R 5520 Ram problem
Hi,
I have a Dell inspiron 15R 5520. I had installed 2*8GB ram modules and had 16GB of ram. Recently I started getting the blue screen of death and found out the rams were faulty after running the dell diagnostic utility and memtest86. I decided to change the RAMs but before that something strange happened: Windows showed 16GB of Installed memory but only 4.68GB usable. I thought this had happened because the RAMs were faulty.
I changed both RAM sticks and windows still shows 16GB of Installed memory and 4.68GB usable. I took out one RAM stick and windows showed 8GB installed and about 8GB usable. I tried the other RAM stick and got the same result. But when I put both sticks in only 4.68 GB are usable. I changed the order of the sticks but it is still the same.
I ran the Dell Diagnostics software with the new RAMs and when I put both sticks in I get error 2000-0261 and If I only put one stick of RAM I get the Error 2000:0122.
I downloaded Dell PC Checkup and it shows all 16Gb of RAM and runs the memory test without a problem (apparently it only checks the 4.68GB available to windows).
CPU-z and the bios show the 16GB of RAM too. My bios is upgraded to A14.
So what is the problem. Why can't I use the 16GB of RAM?

Inspiron 15 7000 series no boot device found?
I've had the laptop for 2 days and today is the first time I'm having this problem, I looked up a solution and it says to tap f2 at the dell logo but when I do that the screen goes black and reboots itself.. I definitely need some help

Latitude D505 HELP!
In November 2008, I had major stroke. On my right side of my leg and my arm do not work. I have to use the program Dragon so that I can talk and converted into Word. My old computer had done nothing and I hoped that I might be able to use my Dell laptop.
My Dell laptop starts and it shows the Function 2 and the Function 12. Both try, but neither will work. I also tried Fn + F1, but this doesn’t work either.
Instead: “This computer system is protected by a password authorisation system. You cannot access the data on this computer without the correct password. Please type in primary or administration password and press .” Nothing works!!!! I have no discs or no backups but I have some data on this laptop. But I can’t get anything!

I have a Dell Inspiron 14Z 5423 and upon booting up, it says "Intel Anti-Theft system lock due to Platform Attack Detected" It then asks me to enter either
1 - User password
2 - Server Token Password

Inspiron 7537 Back lit keyboard default to off?
Hello,
The back lit keyboard is more distraction than helpful, but it come on every time on start-up, or wake-up. I can turn it off with f10, but it would be nice if the default was to off. The Mobility panel controls do not give me an 'off' setting, The brightness setting to off, disappears when woken-up or started-up

Is it better to buy a Dell battery or does it matter? As for chargers, it seems best to buy name brand from the same company.

Dell inspiron 5521 Clicking sound on pressing power button
Hello everyone,
I have a big problem in my laptop.

when i press power button it makes sound as in video and it doesnt show up the screen. so afterwards I have to hard shutdown it by pressing power button for 4-5 seconds.
and i have to do this many times (40-50 times) unless luckily it turns on and shows up the screen.

Can I recreate an original recovery partition?
I bought my Inspiron 1520 used, it came with Windows XP Home 32bit from the factory. When I bought it it had Debian Linux (currently running), and the partitions were rebuilt wiping out the recovery partition.
So I guess my question would be is can I recreate the partition scheme and return it to the factory setup including Windows XP Home 32bit?

Inspiron 7000 Series 17" Quad Core?
Show of hands. Who else wishes the new Inspiron 7000 series 17" laptop came in a quad core option?
My current laptop is three years old and in need of a refresh - but the "new" Insprion lineup has 4th Gen U series Intel chips that are actually worse in rank than my old laptop according to Notebookcheck.net.
I get conflicting stories from Dell reps ... some say "no quad core Inspiron EVER" and some say "a quad core chip is going to be added as an option next week" (which was last week. Sigh.) Some reps say, "we have no idea of dates" but I think that's baloney - Dell announced the September 26th Inspiron update weeks ahead and you can't tell me internal departments (hardware, marketing etc..) get notified of new specs at the same time as the general population!
I see the XPS line features quad cores but Dell no longer makes a 17" XPS laptop. Reps have tried steering me to the Alienware line but I think they're the ugliest laptops out there. There are the Precision laptops but they look like they're from 2001 and yet the base prices are more than any souped up Inspiron I custom build.
Anyone from Dell read these posts and want to chime in? Because it's either wait a week or two more if I'm told there's a quad core on the near-horizon, or go with another vendor because I can't get what I want from Dell.

Inspiron 15z - 5523 does not switch on
My laptop refuses to switch on! Can anyone enlighten me as to what the problem is? The battery is charged, green light on adapter is on, I press the power button and there's nothing...no light, no sound...not a thing.
I've searched forums for the solution to this issue, and here's what I've tried so far...
I've reset the laptop a few times now, and it works for a couple of days and then goes back to not switching on. Tried unplugging the power and holding the power button to remove any static charge. Pressed the fn key with power with no results. I also changed the BIOS set up to windows. I need a permanent solution short of smashing it to pieces!
Ive only had the laptop 18 months, I dont even use it often. When I do, its mostly at the table or resting on a book case so the fan is well ventilated. I seriously expected more from a dell product...its shocking to find out dell doesn't provide much assistance once their products are outside of their warranty period. I expect to be able to at least ask for technical support whether my laptop is within its warranty period or not.
Doubt I'll be buying from Dell ever again after this experience. If anyone can help, I'd be most grateful.

Latitude 2110 "re-born"
Hi all
So, I've just focused on give some sort of "re-birth" to my "old" Latitude 2110.
Added a 120GB SSD which made him quicker than it was. Also with Win7 64 I've managed to have a all terrain computer.
Next stop: memory upgrade. Currently I have 2GB installed. The question is: specs say the limit is 2GB but I've also been reading some forums that 4GB would also be supported.
Any ideas that both these premises are ok?

WiFi Loss
I just recently purchased an Inspiron 5547 laptop and the one consistent problem i have is that it keeps dropping my WiFi connection while other computers and laptops are still connected during this loss. Has anyone experienced this before. I disconnect the profile and then reconnect and it works fine for at least ten minutes then it drops it again.

Dell Studio 1555- Motherboard & Graphic Card Problem
Hi,
My Dell Studio 1555, stopped working 3 weeks back, there was no display and some noise use to come. Since the laptop is not under warranty I gave to the service center who handles Dell Laptops without warranty. They told me that the Graphic Card was not working, but after replacing the graphic card, they said the motherboard is not working.
Can you please suggest where will I get Dell Studio 1555 motherboard. My Dell Studio 1555 is 4 n half yrs old. I need help please suggest a way out. Would really like to expect a prompt reply.

Has someone noticed ghost images (screen burn-in) on Dell XPS 12 Duo?
I recently noticed ghost images on my Dell XPS 12 Duo. If a bright image on dark background stays on the screen for a couple of minutes and then I switch to somewhat dark background I can clearly see the previous image on the screen for some time before it fades away. Once I noticed it I started spotting even more subtle ghost images. I even managed to capture it in a picture with a low-end digital camera - http://imgur.com/a/RIYff (notice the tray icons clearly seen in the Win 8 start screen and even the facebook ad is visible). It is far more clear when you look at the actual screen and not on a picture. I already arranged replacement laptop (as I had other issues with this one) but yesterday I read news about mass defects in Apple's Retina MacBooks ( http://www.ibtimes.com/print/macbook-pro-retina-display-problems-apple-faces-class-action-suit-ghosting-issue-1129939 ) with practically the same issue. Now I wonder if it is possible that all Dell XPS 12 Duo screens have this problem.
So anyone else seeing this on his machine?
