Vostro 3750 unable to use F8 key
XPS 15 L502X - cannot re-install Windows 7 - Hard drive wiped
Original problem: my system would not recognize my CD/DVD burner. I tried updating the driver but had no luck there. I tried using a third party driver updater and that didn't work either. If I went into device manager, I did see the correct CD/DVD listed as a device, but it had the little yellow triangle, indicating things were not OK. Yes, I tried to update the driver from that screen as well. Other than the CD/DVD drive, everything else worked as designed (let me know if you need the drive model number).
Attempted solution #1: My solution of last resort has always been to do a clean install of Windows, which I tried in this case too. I downloaded the iso file from Microsoft, created a bootable USD drive, and changed the boot order in BIOS. Regardless of the setting changes in BIOS, I was always stopped at the beginning of the Windows install with a "CD/DVD driver" error message - even though I was booting from the USB.
Attempted solution #2: Given the lack of success noted above, I decided to remove the hard drive from the system and format it (using an external enclosure). After re-installing the hard drive, I ended up with the same issue and error message.
What we now know: Given that I formatted the hard drive, it is now apparent that my issue is a driver related issue in BIOS.
Solutions?: I have been using PC's for 16 years and have ALWAYS solved my issues with the help of online advice. I'm hoping one of you can help!!!
Thank you in advance
Latitude E5530
My laptop's screen doesn't operate when I turn it on. The power light shines but the hard-drive and battery light doesn't operate as-well. The screen just stays black. The only way of getting the screen to come on is to take the battery out, hold the power button down for 20 seconds and then attach the power lead with no battery. I have to do this each time for it to work. Is there any solution and does anybody know the problem?

FAILED Hard Drive Inspiron 7537
After running the EPSA with Dell support, I was told my hard drive would need to be replaced. My question is"Is there anyway to salvage my data from the hard drive?" I ran routine back-ups to the Dell Cloud but I'm not sure how to check to see if they are there.

Laptop turns off whenever plugged or unplugged
Hi, I've got an Inspiron 14Z 5423 laptop. When I plug in my laptop to charge or unplug my laptop after it's done charging, the laptop turns itself off. I can turn the laptop back on and it works fine (it's not like the laptop needs to be plugged in or it won't function). It also doesn't turn itself off every time that I plug or unplug it, it does it about half of the time. Does anyone have the slightest clue as to what might be wrong with it? It's a pain to have it shut off while I'm in the middle of something just because I had to plug my laptop back in, and I'm also worried that I may not be able to turn it back on after it shuts itself off one of these times.
Thanks,
Ashley
Dell Inspiron battery charging problem.
I have an Inspiron 1318 and get the error message 3600-0749. Says it does not recognize the AC adapter or wattage and to please use the Dell 65W AC adapter. Battery won't charge. Warranty expired in January. I'm using the factory 65W AC adapter. Have tried other batteries and adapters. They all work properly on another computer, but not on this one. This tells me that the problem is internal in the laptop. After researching this on the web, it seems that this is a very common problem with Dell, and that the trouble is a defective connection or terminal on the motherboard. Apparently the systems are defective, but Dell has not issued a recall on them! Let's face it, if you build 1million computers and have a certain problem reported in 2500 of them, something is wrong, but it's not common enough to warrant a recall. But if you build 1 million of them and have reports of the same problem with 190,000 of them, you have a serious problem that should be covered under a recall program. From what I've read on the net, it is a very common problem. Have tried downloading the latest BIOS version, but can't do it. It requires 10% battery and this one only has 3%. With the original battery or a new replacement battery, even after charging in another Dell computer, they only show 3% in this computer. Don't understand that!!!
Maybe I'm wrong, but in my humble opinion, any new computer should last more than 22 months without hardware problems. And this definitely appears to be a hardware related problem. Has any one else out there had any luck getting any help from Dell on this issue?

Inspiron 3520 not working
I bought an Inspiron 3520 no more than a year ago and after about a month of owning it began having problems such as turning off randomly or not turning on at all. We sent it to get fixed about 3 times and after all 3 times it still did not work. I am not rue what to do anymore and I would like to know if I could maybe get a whole new computer of the same model or maybe even a full refund? or a sure way to fix it.
any help is appreciated

Full user guide/manual of operating instructions
On the internet, where can I find a free PDF copy of a DELL Inspiron 15 3000 (3542) user manual (full copy)?
Dell Data Protection | Security Tools: Device is Locked. Contact your Administrator.
Hello, we have some a batch of new Dell Latitude E7440 laptops (****ZZ1 batch of service tags) with full disk encryption SSD storage. We have installed Dell Data Protection | Admin Console (version is 1.3) and Dell Data Protection | Security Tools (version is 1.3; services are listed as Digital Persona Agent 5.0.0.627, Self-Encrypting Drive Management 8.3.2.373, Preboot Authentication Management 8.3.2.373, Authentication Proxy 8.3.2.373; all services are active)
I take a new laptop, install drivers, and required middleware and the above software. I open up Dell Data Protection | Administrator Console. I set up the admin password from a local administrator account previously configured on our laptops as the DDP admin password. I then proceed to the Encryption tab. I set Self-Encrypting Drive Management to On with the on-off switch. I wait for the prompt in the app and Windows taskbar to disappear (indicating FDE is active and pre-boot auth has been appropriately configured).
Now, I hit the snag. It appears the local admin account and a secondary non-admin account were not configured with the proper password. After several attempts in Pre-boot Authentication with the non-admin account, I receive the following message.
Account is locked. Contact your administrator.
I shut the computer off and perform another cold boot (assuming this is like old Dell Data Protection | Access tools on older systems), and the error will be cleared. That is not the case. It persists. I move onto trying with my local administrator account. It appears this was a testing laptop and did not have the standard password I use. I get locked out of this admin account as well with the following error in Pre-boot authentication.
Device is locked. Contact your administrator.
Again, the error persists through cold boot and I can no longer access the system full stop. We do not have ERAS (or whatever the new equivalent is for key escrow and centralized managment). Every time I try Forgot Password in the Options menu in the bottom left-hand corner of Pre-boot Authentication, I leave the name of the admin account and after the click there is an error message stating user account is invalid. I found the only thread on Dell forums that Google searching has yieleded on this topic (http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3518/t/19576978.aspx), where a Dell support technician in response to a customer with similar issues. Can a Dell rep please contact me for resolution on this? This leaves a bad taste in the mouth. The fact that I cannot find public documentation on how to reset or unlock a system (with DDP|Access we have clients where this request comes once a week), I would say it speaks quite poorly to Dell's competency they release software this way. And I mean both the software AND the documentation. Both are terrible and another hassle in my day-to-day use of Dell products.
