My M17x-R2: i7 920xm | 16GB Ram | HD8970m 4GB | 4 years old
I recently switched from a HD5870m to a HD8970m. Plug'n'Play, no issues at all.
After several weeks I encountered lag spikes in games/3D apps, ATI POWERPLAY would not jump to high Performance modes, the graphics card would reset its load constantly to 0%, while the CPU load would go towards 100% then.
Long story short, after several tests, I tracked the problem down (I think):
Under heavy load, the GPU & CPU would compete for limited supplied power. Although it worked for several weeks, it suddenly does not work anymore.
Work-around-solution: I disabled the Turbo mode in the bios! That way, ATI Powerplay automatically works again and the GPU runs in full performance mode (900MHz GPU/1250MHz Ram). The CPU draws a lot less power. So the GPU & CPU can co-work/co-exist under full load again.
QUESTIONS:
Is my AC power adaptor (240Watts) failing to supply its full potential due to summer heat and age?
Should I get a new one and is there an even more powerfull AC power adaptor to be used for the old M17x-R2?

Dell Laptop n5110 won't shut down properly.
Hello, I am having trouble shutting down my laptop properly. After i Start > Shutdown the laptop screens turns off completely black, but the power led is still on and the laptop fan is still running and drains the battery off. To completely turn it off , i need to force shutdown the laptop which i don't appreciate doing all over and over again! I even reformated by laptop and the issue is still there! All drivers are up to date! Please help! Thank you !

Just purchased i7 7000 and am finding it difficult to type with any amount of speed. Just replaced my HP laptop and had no problem typing on it. Is this just a design issue or settings problem? Thanks.

I have new Laptop "DELL Inspiron 15 3521, I have a question about my battery life. What are the precautions that last battery life longer. I am concern about charging battery. Should I fully charge and the use it until end. Please give suggestion about battery charging for long life.

XPS 15 9530 - Noise problem?
Hi all,
I just got my new XPS 15, amazing laptop but there's 1 big problem,
A high-pitched scratching/screeching noise is produced from the power button area ONLY when the power is plugged in and the battery is fully charged.
I've seen other forums and others have exactly the same problem, Any ideas?
I found this example http://z.mk/e6vq , the power is plugged into the laptop at 6 seconds.

I can't use my Touchpad while typing
Hello, I am running a new Inspiron 15R SE 7520 laptop, and I am to understand that this is a feature built into this laptop. While I understand the utility behind this, I cannot find a way to disable this feature. I tried turning "Palm Tracking" down to minimum, but this did not work.
As someone who likes to play games in their spare time on the computer, this will help me enjoy using my new laptop immensely.

Dell 5520 15R Inspiron
Dear Dell CC ,My LAPTOP IS EXACTLY 2 YEARS old (august 2014) AND YESTERDAY it asked me to consider new battery purchase,with cross mark on battery icon Then i checked the diagnostics ,It showed no error in Battery but showed error in Optical drive and tray.Kindly help me to decide what i have to do to my lappy or proceed to purchase battery.

Laptop 3x slower when plugged in; Unrecognized adapter
Hi,
My laptop (Inspiron 3721) does not always recognize the adapter, and when it doesn't, laptop runs 3x slower than when it's unplugged.
First question: Is 'unrecognized adapter' issue related to a malfunctioning adapter/bad cable, or is something wrong with the laptop itself?
Second question: why does Dell make the laptop run slower if the adapter is unrecognized?

Will the Vostro 1510, regardless of processor, support Windows 7 32 bit OS?
Will the Vostro 1510 support Windows 7 32 bit OS?
I had installed W7 Pro 64 bit, but the video drivers will not work. Blue screen.
Before I spend even more money on another OS....want to make sure it will support both the 32 bit OS as well as load all appropriate drivers to operate.
On the Dell diagnostic screen, when it scanned the Service Tag, indicated only the Vista or XP OS as choices for this model laptop.

Backlit keyboard
Just taken delivery of my shiny new I7 7737 Inspiron Laptop.
I can not make out the characters on the keytops when the keyboard back light is on, the whole thing just merges into one silvery shiny indecipherable mess. Fine when the laptop is off, the keytops are silver and the character marks are dark grey. Is it possible to turn the back light off. If not this laptop will have to go straight back where it came from.

Memory for latitude e6410 Question
Does the DDR3 memory have to be specific for the Latitude E6410? I have tried upgrading the memory from 2 gigs to 8 gigs. I have tried;
2 x Kingston ValueRAM 4GB (1x4GB) DDR3L 1600MHz Non-ECC 204-pin Unbuffered SODIMM Memory Module
Corsair Memory 8GB Vengeance Performance DDR3 SO-DIMM 1866 MHz 10 Dual Channel Laptop
Both of which Windows 64 bit and Manjaro 64 bit linux failed to boot on. I ran the inbuilt Dell diagnostics - all passed.
I "borrowed" a Hynix 4 gig stick from another different model Dell which works fine. The Corsair memory is working fine in the Dell I borrowed the memory from. but so far short of 4 Gig.
From what I understand the memory I bought to upgrade should have worked fine.
Confused.

Inspiron 15z 5523 USB problems?
Hello,
I have an Inspiron 15z 5523 and it's not older than 3 months.
I attach my USB mouse in the 1st USB hub in the left side of the laptop which is right beside the HDMI hub.
I frequently sometimes maybe every two days, I suddenly get a message in Windows saying "Your USB Device malfunctioned and Windows doesn't recognize it" and then I have to unplug the USB mouse and plug it again to work again.
Is this a flaw in this specific USB hub for this model?

Dell Inspiron N3050 laptop - increased memory today - and running slower!
Good afternoon all! I recently ordered 4GB of memory from Dell (using the guide to get the right one) to increase my laptop memory from 2GB to 6GB. I got the chap at our local IT shop to fit it. I now have the laptop home - it is running fine, just even slower than before - and I thought it was meant to speed it up!
Any ideas please?

Network controller error
I have recently installed windows 8.1 in my dell inspiron 15-3521 and my wifi and bluetooth is not working and it shows error in network controller in device manager i have tried all relevant network driver available in dell.com but it reports error and is not installed . my hardware id is Device PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_0036&SUBSYS_020C1028&REV_01\4&94546ef&0&00E1
