Does anyone know how to fix these problems? When I use my laptop for a while it is then unable to access the internet. Also, there is no sound as well. I always have to restart it so it can work probably again, but only for a while.
Thank you

I have kept my laptop plugged in but recently, hovering the mouse over the battery icon at the bottom right corner of the screen gives "5% available (plugged in but not charging). Right click displays "Desktop mode battery charge". Click on this gives a form with tabs: Status, Battery Health,Desktop Mode, Longevity Mode. The status tab shows: Battery Capacity 4%. Battery charging disabled. Enable Dell Intelligent Display in battery mode (unchecked) Enable Dell Extended Battery Life (checked) Remind me when Dell Intelligent Display or Dell extended Battery life is on (checked) Settings - greyed out The Battery Health tab shows a picture with a battery and a tick and "your battery is performing normally" Option Desktop Mode is selected. The other two tabs did not give useful info.
As an experiment I disconnected the battery supply. A warning picture of the battery showed briefly before the whole machine went dead.
Any ideas how I can resurrect the laptop? Why was it not charging and stuck at 4-6%.

Hello, we have some a batch of new Dell Latitude E7440 laptops (****ZZ1 batch of service tags) with full disk encryption SSD storage. We have installed Dell Data Protection | Admin Console (version is 1.3) and Dell Data Protection | Security Tools (version is 1.3; services are listed as Digital Persona Agent 5.0.0.627, Self-Encrypting Drive Management 8.3.2.373, Preboot Authentication Management 8.3.2.373, Authentication Proxy 8.3.2.373; all services are active)
I take a new laptop, install drivers, and required middleware and the above software. I open up Dell Data Protection | Administrator Console. I set up the admin password from a local administrator account previously configured on our laptops as the DDP admin password. I then proceed to the Encryption tab. I set Self-Encrypting Drive Management to On with the on-off switch. I wait for the prompt in the app and Windows taskbar to disappear (indicating FDE is active and pre-boot auth has been appropriately configured).
Now, I hit the snag. It appears the local admin account and a secondary non-admin account were not configured with the proper password. After several attempts in Pre-boot Authentication with the non-admin account, I receive the following message.
Account is locked. Contact your administrator.
I shut the computer off and perform another cold boot (assuming this is like old Dell Data Protection | Access tools on older systems), and the error will be cleared. That is not the case. It persists. I move onto trying with my local administrator account. It appears this was a testing laptop and did not have the standard password I use. I get locked out of this admin account as well with the following error in Pre-boot authentication.
Device is locked. Contact your administrator.
Again, the error persists through cold boot and I can no longer access the system full stop. We do not have ERAS (or whatever the new equivalent is for key escrow and centralized managment). Every time I try Forgot Password in the Options menu in the bottom left-hand corner of Pre-boot Authentication, I leave the name of the admin account and after the click there is an error message stating user account is invalid. I found the only thread on Dell forums that Google searching has yieleded on this topic (http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3518/t/19576978.aspx), where a Dell support technician in response to a customer with similar issues. Can a Dell rep please contact me for resolution on this? This leaves a bad taste in the mouth. The fact that I cannot find public documentation on how to reset or unlock a system (with DDP|Access we have clients where this request comes once a week), I would say it speaks quite poorly to Dell's competency they release software this way. And I mean both the software AND the documentation. Both are terrible and another hassle in my day-to-day use of Dell products.
Hi guys, I hope someone can help me to save a lot of time disassembling; Yesterday I replaced the bezel and screen panel on my 1558 and changed the heat sync paste on the processor, but now when I boot it, it gets 80% of the way through the BIOS boot and then beeps continuously at freeze. I also put a small amount of paste under the thermal pad of the ATI graphics chip at the other end of the heat sync, but wiping this away made no difference. Does anyone recognise the beeps or can make an accurate suggestion about how to fix this before I have to go through disassembling it for trial and error? It shouldn't make a difference using thermal paste over a pad, should it? Video attached.
I have a dell 1545 that won't start up with the battery in or out or the ac plugged in or out.
Problem I tried start it up I hear the fan running then the fan stops and the screen is off. 1 minute later I heard 3 beeps coming from the laptop. I looked around on other forums for help but they didn't e.g. Hold the power button to take the static out. I read somewhere that this means my dell is stuck in hibernate and will not start.
PLEASE HELP!

hi everyone. i bought a dell inspiron 3537 with i7. i can't find the driver for wifi and bluetooth. all i find didn't work. please help me with a link!
My wife was surfing the net and watching TV last night when her Inspiron M5030 got the blue screen of death. There have been no other errors or performance issues until now. When she tried to reboot, the laptop just gave 7 loud beeps over and over. Followed the suggestions found elsewhere in this forum, disconnected the power cord, removed battery, held start button down for 30 secs, tried to reboot, but got the same result.
After browsing this forum I've found a lot of people have had the 7 beeps on start up issue with the M5030. I've had really good experience with Dell over the past 8 years, so it's sad to see so many bad comments about them here. In my company, if there's a known problem you just do the right thing, period.
The warranty is up so does anyone have any suggestions??
Thanks,
Jim

I am wondering how many slots there are for RAM in this laptop.
Where are they, and how many gigabytes of ram can each slot handle? Thanks.
Hey,
I recently started to have problems with my Dell, and i'm fairly certain i have to replace the heatsink. I bought a new one, and conductor paste, opened the laptop, however I got stuck at removing the old heatsink.
Basically, my problem is that the old heatsink is glued onto the GPU, Im not sure what kind of paste is that, but it looks like grey metal melted. Therefore, I was afraid to force it loose. Also, I don't have that kind of paste and I'm not sure what it is or if i would have to replace it. I only have paste for the CPU. What should I do in this situation?
Thanks!
