Hello,

I have a problem with my Dell XPS L701X, I bought it 1 year ago. But since a few days my laptop Beep's 8 times at the start-up. when it does I ussualy just power off my laptop because of the annoying sound, and turn it back on. Once I powered it on and off for 3-4 times it doesn't beep anymore an works fine. Does anyone know what the problem might be? I already searched the internet and I found that someting could be wrong with the GPU or something. And it said I had to hold down the D button at start-up so I could check if my collours where right. So i did and all my collours where just fine. If anyone knows more about this problem then please reply soon because my warrenty expires at jan. 11

PS. Sorry for my bad english

BTW. I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bits

Can't upgrade to W 8.1 Pro on XPS 15 9530

I bought my XPS few month back but never run original HDD with W8.1 preinstalled, instead I put W7 on my new SSD which worked perfectly - now I wanted to install Windows 8.1 Pro OEM on this SSD from external DVD drive - it installed fine only the version of Windows is regular 8.1 and when I tried to change my KEY it said "The KEY can not be used to activate this edition of Windows please try a different key" I'm thinking it picked up the KEY what DELL put in a chip on the main board and stripped my installation off from PRO to regular 8.1 because it never asked for key at all. The other thing is it might not work with OEM version - I NEED CONFIRMATION OF THIS, PREFFERABLY FROM DELL. Who knows how to do please let me know. Thanks

Dell XPS 12 Ultrabook not powering on after hibernate

I had this problem before, and Dell Chat did a screen share and updated bios, graphics drivers, and some other things. Then, I put it into hibernate mode and it didn't power on. At this point, I had to hold down the power button for over a minute, then hold down the FN key and press power. The ePSA booted up and found no issues.

Today the problem occurred again and this time, the ePSA would not boot. Even after all the BS with the holding of buttons, etc. At this point, the Dell rep concluded that there was motherboard issue. I am wondering if any one else has had this issue and if there's a fix or a different way to somehow boot into ePSA that I may not have tried yet.

I have an idea that the issue may lie with the iRST conflicting with the hibernate mode. Any ideas on what can be tried?

Dell Inspiron 3421 Display Issue

I have Dell Inspiron 3421 laptop, 1.5 years old running Windows 8.1 Pro. Yesterday I was running my laptop and suddenly the display went blank, the hard disk indicator was active. I restarted the laptop and it started diagnose and restarted automatically.

What happens now is that the system boots up, the Dell logo appears & a circle ring below indicating that the system is loading but soon after that the display goes out. The system light and hard disk light are running showing that the system is loading but just that the display won't show.

All drivers and Windows is up to date. I had updated the BIOS from A08 to A12, 4 days before the issue. There was no problem in those 4 days after the BIOS update. I have run the system diagnostic and it is clean, no issues reported.

What could be the problem here?

I am using Dell Inspiron with windows 7
SERVICE TAG NO. 33WT7BS
Express Service Code: 6766855768

I am in despirate need of help

As, for the last few days my OS isn't working properly, so i decided to do the full system format.
Since my DVD Drive is not in the working condition, so I used the alternative option to format the system through USB drive.

I use the Window 8 Flashed USB to boot the system. The process successfully started. After few minutes It shows the page of my current partition including the recovery drive. I decided to delete all the current partition(including the recovery drive) and recreate the new partition.

Then, I move foreword to installation windows page but the process stuck at 0%.

After that I have also done the diagnostics process, it shows  the error :

error code: 0146

Msg: Error code: 2000-0146

Msg: Hard drive 1: Self test log contains previous e-mail.

I tried repeating the same above process many time but it always stuck at one place or another.
I would really appreciate your help and consideration.

Thanks in advance !

Hi all,

I just got my new XPS 15, amazing laptop but there's 1 big problem,

A high-pitched scratching/screeching noise is produced from the power button area ONLY when the power is plugged in and the battery is fully charged.

I've seen other forums and others have exactly the same problem, Any ideas?

I found this example http://z.mk/e6vq , the power is plugged into the laptop at 6 seconds.

Thanks

Keyboard Spacebar Issues - New Inspiron 15 3537 Touchscreen Series

$

ISSUE:  I was hoping DELL had fixed the intermittant keyboard space bar problem with the new Inspiron 15 3537s - but the same bad space bar design that plagued the earlier versions (space bar works and doesn't work for no aparent reason) is still here even in the new models.

OBSERVATION: It has nothing to do with the wire clip not being mounted in all the clips on the underside of the space bar.  It has nothing to do with Windows or Ubuntu drivers.

The space bar cap is simply not low/thick enough underneath to properly hit the rubber contact point (it's referred to as an actuator button).  You press down on the space bar and the cap has nothing underneath to make a firm contact to press down on the tiny actuator button.

It's a known design defect.

SOLUTION:  Same as with previous models exhibiting space bar problems.

Since all the replacement keyboards have the same defect, a new keyboard from DELL isn't going to fix the problem unless they put on new space bar caps (which they haven't as of this writing).

Carefully remove the space bar key (remember how it hooks into the retaining wire underneath) - don't break any clips.  Tape a small spacer made of thin cardboard (like from a ceral box) on the underside of the space bar cap where it presses down on that little button (you'll see a worn spot where the actuator hits the underside of the spacebar cap) .  It's doesn't have to be thick cardboard, the space bar is only missing the actuator button by teeny tiny bit - just enough to make this all very annoying. Then put the space bar cap back in place carefully.  If it still misses spaces, thicken the spacer a little more.  If it makes spaces too easily, then you'll need to make a thinner spacer.  (These instructions were taken instructions posted by Brazen Normalcy on 22 Oct 2013 2:35 PM - Thanks Brazen)

COMMENTS: It's so frustrating when something so trivial like this - which has been known by DELL for several models previous to this one - ruins the reputation of an otherwise nice, good bang-for-your-buck, laptop like this.  And it all could have been avoided by simply thinkening the plastic a hair more on the underside of the spacebar key.

Dell Inspiron 5720 17R, Battery wont work, Plugged in, Not charging

I have had this problem for a year now, i've surfed the web and finally arrived at these dell forums.

When ever i boot up my pc i am greeted with this kind message from my computer :

My battery has not charged in a year and when ever i hover over my battery icon i receive this:

I have tried everything from uninstalling/re installing drivers, i tried upgrading bios but i need 10% battery but i can not currently get that, i tried doing complicated configurations that in no way worked and i have no clue why its not working after so many trials of tests. I am pretty positive my battery is not dead. Please give me the solution to my problem.

Thanks, Jack -

Hello Helper,

I'm using a Inprision 1440. Now I'd like to upgrade the ram of my laptop. Could you please give my some advice that I can choose for my laptop? It's OK if I get a DDR3 or  a same one to run in Dual Chanel Ram (in that case can I install winx64?). It's better if I have a list of hardwares what I can upgrade to my laptop. Bellow is the config of my laptop.

CPU: Inprision 1440 Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU   P7450  @ 2.13GHz

RAM: DDR2  2Ghz PC2-6400 (400 MHz)

Let me know if you need more information.

Thanks in advance
