My laptop shuts off after a few seconds if its not plugged in. All tests ive done show the battery is working and I've installed the latest BIOS. Laptop say "plugged in, charging" (unlike with similar problems posted here where it says "not charging") but it doesnt work. Ive run stuff on "My Dell" and it doesnt show any problems. Any ideas what could be wrong and what diagnostics program I could run to find out?

Motherboard Driver
My friend gave me his motherboard since he already got a brand new computer but the problem is that a year ago I sold him my antec 1200 computer case and while I was switching his hardware into the new case he went outside and threw his old dell desktop case into the garbage so now I have a motherboard that needs drivers. From what I can see on his motherboard it's some RU US DG33M06-SE0709 motherboard and when I try to google the motherboard product it come out blank and I also cant find it in the Dell drivers website so I'm not sure what to do. Help please.

Laptop keyboard's caps key acting like tab?
Hi, not sure if this is in the right section. I have a Dell XPS 15 and the keyboard that originally came with it has been working fine until recently. I noticed that when I rename a file, and press the caps key, it acts as tab instead. It is very difficult to rename files when caps keeps tabbing out. I've googled the issue and haven't found any fix. Is there anything I can do to solve this problem?

Well, i have always had an overheat problems and i've baught a cooling pad to minimize (trust me, without it it's not possible to use the touchpad).
Since two weeks now, i have some serious issues, blue screens, windows just crashes periodically. When i happends i need to leave it for hours to be sure that it will start after ... Each peace of my software looks to be up to date and i think hte issue should be hardware related. i've backed up all my data for instance and i hope you can help me to understand the issue and to find a solution.

Dell Inspiron 3421 Display Issue
I have Dell Inspiron 3421 laptop, 1.5 years old running Windows 8.1 Pro. Yesterday I was running my laptop and suddenly the display went blank, the hard disk indicator was active. I restarted the laptop and it started diagnose and restarted automatically.
What happens now is that the system boots up, the Dell logo appears & a circle ring below indicating that the system is loading but soon after that the display goes out. The system light and hard disk light are running showing that the system is loading but just that the display won't show.
All drivers and Windows is up to date. I had updated the BIOS from A08 to A12, 4 days before the issue. There was no problem in those 4 days after the BIOS update. I have run the system diagnostic and it is clean, no issues reported.
What could be the problem here?

Latitude 3330 BIOS update failure
Hi,
I got a latitude 3330 which crashed while updating BIOS. Now when starting the NB, the DELL logo shows up but just stays there forever. If I hit ESC, a process bar shows up but is stuck at about 75%. If I press F12, it says "preparing one-time boot menu..." but nothing appears.
What can I do to recover the BIOS? help, please!!

blinking Caps lock and Scroll lock/ no boot up
Hi,
I have an inspiron 9400 that has been having some issues lately. As of right now, when I push the power button, the power light comes on but it does not boot or even post. The Num lock stays on and the caps lock and scroll lock lights blink for about 40 seconds then the whole thing shuts off. This can obviously be only a few things but, how to I figure out what those blinking lights mean. I have search dell support but have found nothing. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Cannot upgrade Inspiron 5520 Bios - outputs "Test."
Hello,
I booted with a DOS usb stick, as I do not use windows, in order to update my bios.
I am using

When I boot to the DOS USB stick, I run 5520A14.exe and it outputs
"Test."
That's it. I used the same DOS USB stick for another dell machine with a different bios, and it upgraded fine.

bluetooth 370 minicard in precision m6400 stopped working after windows 8.1 upgrade
how to fix? when I try to install the driver it says program compatibility issue and refuses to run. I have also tried installing under every compatibility profile eg windows xp, vista, 7 etc doesn't work. the windows 7 driver worked fine under windows 8.

Dell touchpad on Inspiron N5050
The touchpad hot key thing isnt working when I press Fn + F3 I went into the control panel to see if the touch pad thing was still installed and it is but I can't find it any where on my computer. How do I find it and how do I fix it to where it will let me disable/enable the touch pad again.

Has someone noticed ghost images (screen burn-in) on Dell XPS 12 Duo?
I recently noticed ghost images on my Dell XPS 12 Duo. If a bright image on dark background stays on the screen for a couple of minutes and then I switch to somewhat dark background I can clearly see the previous image on the screen for some time before it fades away. Once I noticed it I started spotting even more subtle ghost images. I even managed to capture it in a picture with a low-end digital camera - http://imgur.com/a/RIYff (notice the tray icons clearly seen in the Win 8 start screen and even the facebook ad is visible). It is far more clear when you look at the actual screen and not on a picture. I already arranged replacement laptop (as I had other issues with this one) but yesterday I read news about mass defects in Apple's Retina MacBooks ( http://www.ibtimes.com/print/macbook-pro-retina-display-problems-apple-faces-class-action-suit-ghosting-issue-1129939 ) with practically the same issue. Now I wonder if it is possible that all Dell XPS 12 Duo screens have this problem.
So anyone else seeing this on his machine?

Dell 1558 studio overheating problem
HI,
I have Dell studio 1558. Every time that I turn it on, my laptop is very hot but I can't understand what is the cause of this problem. Also I cleaned the fan and it is still very hot.

Dell N5040 - wont start - back light is on
Out of no where my dell inspiron stopped booting - Backlight is on, and looks like it wants to boot up ( no dell logo at all ) just the backlight on. Does not boot at all!!
I hear movement in the internals - a few tests i did:
take ram out one by one to test, once i took all RAM out, i got 2 beeps I believe,
Tried the ram one by one, and same out come... no beeps, just back light on
I think the fan starts for about 20 seconds and then stops.
I also checked if the screen is the issue by I plugging anHDMI to my desktop monitor from the laptop, and it reflects the same back light look. A bright vibrant black. Could this just be the monitor mirroring the bad LCD screen? Or ?
I tried all this with direct connection from outlet without battery, as well with battery plugged in, no difference
Is this a motherboard issue? Or...?

dell 15z 5523 FAN noise
Hi,
I am using a dell inspiron 15z, 5523. Since my first start (3 days ago) my laptop has a fan noise continuous and disturbing. it sounds like a ceiling fan.
I have done the following.
- Updated drivers
- updated BIOS
- set optimized values in BIOS using F9 in the F2 menu before windows 8 boots up.
Please help me with this problem.

I get error 0x80070015 when I try to add a dell travel mouse
My XPS 15z will not add my older dell travel mouse. When I try to do so it either says it's added and then the mouse does not work or it give me the 0x80070015 error message. Any thoughts?

Inspiron 1545 Black screen with movable cursor after startup
I had my laptop hooked up to my tv through an HDMI cord. My laptop screen was not appearing on my tv so I right clicked on my desktop and clicked the option to move screen to tv. After that my screen went black and nothing showed up on my tv. My computer was unresponsive so I turned it off and powered back up. My dell loading screen showed up then it went to a black screen with a movable cursor. Again my laptop was unresponsive to everything I tried. I have tried running in safe mode but the screen remains black. I have tried starting at last known good config and still black screen. I have tried hooking it back up to my tv to see if i can get the screen to show up there but again it just gives me the black screen and cursor. At this moment I am running diagnostics and so far all has been good but it is still going. If anyone has an idea of how I can fix this it would be much appreciated! I am a college student and I need my laptop! Thanks!

Inspiron 14R 5420
I have the problem for my Inspiron 14R 5420.The system don't start for the first time I press the power button.The LED in the power button lights up and nothing displays on the screen.Even the LED on the caps lock key don't function.Then I have to press the power button again to shut it down and repeat the process.After some of these ON-OFF cycles system starts suddenly.But when the system starts,it behaves perfectly normal and even passed all the tests(with ePSA diagnostics).
I tried draining the residual power by pressing and holding the power button for 20 seconds(after removing the battery and charger).It worked for one time,the system started normally.The problem persists and now, even this process is not helping the laptop to start.
Please help me solve this.

display brightness not dimming on XPS 14 (LX421)
I recently updated some drivers and now my display brightness is stuck at maximum. The various settings apps allow me to adjust up and down just fine but the actual brightness does not alter. Apps tried so far:
1) Fn-F4, Fn-F5
2) Windows 8.1 64 bit- Brightness setting
3) Power settings app -
This use to work fine 2 days ago. I did not update graphics driver (as this would be older than already on the laptop) and no display driver available per service tag. I suspect it is one of the 2 Intel drivers (Intel Chipset driver or Intel Management Engine Interface driver).
Please let me know how I can fix this.
