i installed win 8.1 and it work perfect but some times when i working it hang with no blue or black screen and i should restart it with power key

My Dell Inspiron 1520 laptop with the original battery is 5 or so years old. The last time I had it on and plugged in, I was only running on battery power and the battery didn't recharge through the A/C plug. We checked the power cord and it is working, but now the battery has completely drained and I cannot turn the laptop on.
Is it a safe assumption that the battery needs replacing or could there be another issue?
Also, is there a way to select A/C vs. battery power mode?

Right from buying I had the keyboard, motherboard, heat sink, fan, cd-rom, LCD screen, replaced on multiple occasions. Its been nearly 10 months.
First I was cheated from getting an exchange, then a series of repairs went on, it was called to depot, technician came thrice, and today again I have an issue with the LCD screen going dark with dead pixels.
Again they are asking me to send it to repair which would take 20 days to get back to me. I am very unhappy. Hope this post helps someone to decide properly when buying.

I have contacted dell several times trying to understand them that my laptop fallen from my hand in airport and it broke the right hinge from the inside but dell is not providing me accidental damage protection. I have also photograph of damaged parts. It seems that Dell is harassing their customer. I am really disappointed.

I have a Dell Studio 1555 laptop (2009 model?).
Recently it has been making LOUD clicking noises constantly from the left side of the laptop. After reading online, it sounded like my hard drive was about to die. I bought a $200 new SSD, spent an hour inserting it and re-installing windows only to find it my laptop is STILL CLICKING.
Since the fan is on the left side of the laptop, I now think that might be the problem. I need a professional opinion on what is wrong and how to fix it.

Hi Dell, I have inspiron n5010 model. From past few days when I want to start my laptop there is 8 beep sound but no display is coming and the laptop is not starting anyway .I have checked up this problem on the internet and 8 beeps refers to LCD screen problem.But when i connect my laptop to the TV via HDMI it dosent appear.My laptop is out of warranty and right now I can not afford a new laptop.

I have a dell inspiron n5010 that is sounding 8 beeps and displaying a black screen on start up, after a few attempts it will then start and may stay fine for a few days or just a few minutes, before it displays little purple/green coloured pixels on the screen and shows Display driver has stopped working and successfully recovered, eventually it will freeze up and need to be reset then back to beeping 8 times and black screen, I have read that 8 beeps is LCD failure just want to know if I can try anything before replacing the LCD, I have hooked it up to an external monitor but that only works when the laptop is actually running

Dell Inspiron 17R i17RM-8389sLV || Win 8.1 with all current updates
On July 6 I connected to the internet fine. There was an update from HP (drivers for a printer) and AVG (free) did it's usual update. There were no MS updates. Then, AVG popped up threats that it saved me from. There were 10 of them. After that, I could not access the internet from my Chrome browser. I then tried IE. Neither worked.
However... I was still able to download mail, MS was able to toss ads up in Win 8, and AVG was able to update. Still, I could not access the internet.
I uninstalled the HP drivers. No help. I tried restoring, but kept getting an error message that the restore did not complete, maybe anti-virus was stopping it. I disabled AVG but got the same message. I tried restoring to an earlier point and got the same results. I stopped trying to restore, (I tried four times total.) Now, I can't get e-mail or AVG updates, but MS updates (there were 12 this morning) and ads are still able to load. The wireless connects. I've turned it off and on. I've connected to several wi-fi networks, but still cannot connect to the internet. Also, everything else (software, etc.) seems to be working fine. I just can't get on the internet.
The files AVG removed are were labelled as being infected with Adware Generic5.AYPP (9 files) and Adware Generic5.AVWY (1 file) and are listed below. (AVWY is noted; all others are the AYPP.)

I'm trying to avoid REFRESHING the system (or RESTORING). Will I be able to? Do I assume the files noted above are infected and I should restore them from the AVG vault? I'm betting one or all of the files are what I need to put the machine right.
What else can I try, or am I at the REFRESH point?

Today I received my xps 15 9530 (mid tier).. But there seems to be some issues
The system is fast and I love it ,hopefully this can be fixed..
1. When there is sunlight shining on my laptop (afternoon, when I first got it), I see small circles or squares im not too sure but circle I think lined up in my screen. I hope this makes sense. these circular pixel things are lined from top to bottom left to right in my screen. Well, it got dark out and no sun is shining on my laptop so now I don't see these pixels or whatever u call them. But if I look closely enough, I can see the outline of these square/circle pixel things. theyre like small littleboxes top to bottom , left to right.
2. There is a problem with brightness control. When I start my system, it will be at its brightest, but in about 5 seconds, it dims down (im guessing to 40-50%). from there, I cannot bring it up to its highest brightness. Only way to bring up the brightness is to go to device manager, go to intel 4600, update drivers, choose and let me pick and I have to choose intel 4600 and install that and then itll stay at its brightest, but once I use the hotkey to bring it down or up, it goes back to it being dim.
I don't know hwats going on and this is my first exchange that I received today. Someone have similar problems or fixes? help! :(
I have been using the laptop since 1.5 yrs(out of warranty now) . My display brightness has suddenly turned very dull. Even on maximizing the brightness using Fn+F5 the screen is quite dark than usual. I reinstalled all the display drivers, video card rivers, updated the BIOS, fully charged the battery but still the problem persists. Also during rating the system by windows (1.0 to 7.9, mine is currently 5.5) the screen didn't flash as before. What may be the possible problem and solution for this issue?

I just got my Dell E7440 and updated it to Windows 8.1. Now the 3- finger wish for going back and forward is not working. I was looking for a generic alps driver, but couldn't find one.
Does anybody have a newer alps driver, than the One Dell is offering? I'm using Version 8.1206.101.109 A06 at the moment.
I really like the notebook, but three finger wish for going back is a really important gesture in my opinion.

I have the Dell-Inspiron-15-3531 and when I enter into the BIOS everything is greyed out, can't even change the time, nothing at all, now what ?
I have an issue with my my laptop in that once or after I use graphics related software it goes to the bsod. It gives me two different causes ( DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE & DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL - nvlddmkm.sys).
Would I be right in saying my graphics card is toast?
It has been doing this for months. I know I know I should have gotten it fixed sooner but being an architecture student you need a laptop. The amount of time I spend doing graphic things like CAD, Photoshop etc is ridiculous and no laptop = no work = no degree. I have only really finished needing it for work very recently.

I am trying to install win-7 64bit on my Latitude E5510(original OS is win-7 32bit, 4GB RAM, BIOS Revision A07 )
Win-7 64bit installation disk, I prepared, is professional version 6.1(build7601 SP-1 DSP).
Installation of win-7 64bit was successes completely.
But, I failed to 64bit drivers installation 2times.
That is;
1st trial: Latest driver installation
All drivers were downloaded from dell site selected by TAG No. and win7-64bit.
Driver Installation order is as follow:
This installation order is as indicated DELL Japan's document " 233492_ja".

After step 9, restarting system, I found in Device Manager screen, touchpad was marked with "!" and "code10".
To solve this problem, I installed latest driver "Dell Multi-touch touchpad A09", then tried to re-start system.
However, System could not start, and was shift to recovery installation mode.
Above 2 trials were failure, and I can't solve this problem.
Anyone, please teach me how to install win-7 64bit and drivers correctly.
I would like to ask if Dell has any recommendations for the overheating issues with Dell xps 1557. Before my warranty went off i had to change my HDD because of the overheating. I used my laptop alwas with a cooling base still i didn't avoid overheating. When the warranty went out i had to go to a service because a chip went out because of overheating...I would appreciate some help if there is,,
