I recently noticed ghost images on my Dell XPS 12 Duo. If a bright image on dark background stays on the screen for a couple of minutes and then I switch to somewhat dark background I can clearly see the previous image on the screen for some time before it fades away. Once I noticed it I started spotting even more subtle ghost images. I even managed to capture it in a picture with a low-end digital camera - http://imgur.com/a/RIYff (notice the tray icons clearly seen in the Win 8 start screen and even the facebook ad is visible). It is far more clear when you look at the actual screen and not on a picture. I already arranged replacement laptop (as I had other issues with this one) but yesterday I read news about mass defects in Apple's Retina MacBooks ( http://www.ibtimes.com/print/macbook-pro-retina-display-problems-apple-faces-class-action-suit-ghosting-issue-1129939 ) with practically the same issue. Now I wonder if it is possible that all Dell XPS 12 Duo screens have this problem.
So anyone else seeing this on his machine?
Has someone noticed ghost images (screen burn-in) on Dell XPS 12 Duo?
Dell Inspiron 15 n5010 Black Screen
Inspiron 1721 overheating and shutting down
This is an older computer, but I'm not ready to trash it yet. Does anyone know what to do? It overheats constantly and then shuts down, often now reverting to an "earlier date", meaning I lose files. Any thoughts?
My laptop's screen is black and white or grey scale, which ever you want to call it.
I have Dell Inspiron 1520 laptop with NVIDIA Geforce 8600M GT. I had the latest driver from NVIDIA's website, Version: 195.62, for my graphic card. It was working fine until few days ago, when I closed my laptop's lid and reopened it later on, the screen was black and white/grey scale. Yes, in order to fix it I uninstalled my display driver then I reinstalled the current driver.. and it worked! But the real problem is that, whenever I close my laptop and open it... it seems to go back to black and white/grey scale again. What I found out was that whenever I close my laptops' lid, my laptop doesn't go into the "sleep" mode and it keeps on running, which never happened before. Also, going to Start --> Shut Down --> Sleep manually doesn't work either. My laptop just can't go to sleep anymore. So I thought the fault was the laptop not being able to go into the "sleep" mode. But then, when I uninstalled the NVIDIA's website, Version: 195.62 and reinstalled with latest Dell manufacturer's version for my computer; 175.97, the computer would still be in color even when I close and reopen my laptop. Even though the laptop doesn't go to sleep.
So my questions are:
-What is the problem?
-How do I make my computer to go into "sleep" mode when I close my lid?
-NVIDIA's website newest driver Version: 195.62... Release date:2009.12.04
Dell website's newest driver for my laptop Version: 175.97....Release date:2008.7.1
Does this mean I can't install newest driver ever again? Am I stuck with outdated drivers? And why doesn't dell release the newest driver for my laptop?
Integrated and dedicated graphics
Although the performance capability of radeon hd graphics (say 7570m) is slightly lower than that of intel hd 4000...why is it used as a dedicated graphics in laptops?
What is the actual purpose of a dedicated graphics......shouldn't its capability be more than that of integrated graphics? Can someone please explain?

XPS L702X Keyboard Beep Sound
I recently bought a XPS L702X. When I boot the pc and when I start typing, I sometimes get a beep sound for every single button I press on my keyboard. It's about 50% of the time honestly. Sometimes I can boot the pc, start typing for 30 mins and I hear no beep. But sometimes I start pc and first hit on my keyboard immediatly gives a beep sound. Also it could just start in the middle of a text I'm typing and end 3 sentences later without me doing anything about it. The letters are written, but the sound that comes with it, is very annoying. I read a few things about this problem, and some people say to check bios and turn off things related to keyboard sounds. I checked that but I couldn't find it and the things I found about my keyboard in bios were not changeable. So, anyone knows a solution to fix my problem?
Dell Inspiron 15R (n5110) hard drive question.
I kind of just need a yes or no on this. I am planning on upgrading in about a month or two, but for now, I just want to be able to access my latop again. My hard drive crashed a while back and I don't have a ton of money to dump on the hard drive. So I found this one, and I just want to know if it will work.
Thanks in advance.

How can I activate Pause/Break key in Inspiron 15R 5537?
I've recently brought a Inspiron 15R 5537 with Brazilian ABNT2 keyboard and I am facing some problems to discovery where some keys as Scroll Lock and Pause/Break key are.
I've suspect that when i press Fn + Ctrl + Num Lock i can make Scroll Lock, but I am not quite sure about it.
I am a Java Developer and frequently need to acess the pause key in order to analyze log during programs execution or even acess Windows system properties in a quick way and I would like to press some key combination like Fn + Windows + another key to achieve this goal, as I am a keyboard shortcut addicted, this is bringing me a very frustating feeling when I couldn't make it.
Is there any key combination I could do in order to achive this goal?
Thanks in advance.

Dell Inspiron Clicking and Freezing
Hi I have a Dell Inspiron 14z- 5423 running Windows 8. About 10 times I have heard a clicking noise (not coming from the speakers and it's irregular) which seems to be coming from the left side of the laptop. I think most if not all of the times it has started clicking while I was gaming. Most of the time my computer will freeze about 20-30 seconds after the clicking starts and then I have to manually power down (I've tried leaving it for up to 10 minutes and it will still be stuck on the same screen). I think the clicking has stopped every time after the screen freezes. This happened once and I was unable to restart my computer even in safe mode; I had to completely restore the computer from my recovery disks. I'm not super computer savvy so I'm not sure what this is...my boyfriend said it might be my hard drive. Any help is appreciated! :)
Bought new inspiron 17 from dell, screen goes black for no reason?
I just got my new laptop this week, and everything is good with it, except out of nowhere, the screen will go black on me and wont come back until you move the mouse. Its not that it sits for a certain amount of time, you can be in the middle of doing something while using the mouse and it goes black then starts back up again? Is this just a defective laptop I got and I need to send it back?
Thanks
Inspiron N5050 won't start
Okay, so I've read some other similar posts about this issue, but mine seems to be a little different.
When I try to start up my Inspiron N5050 (with Windows 7) nothing really happens. The first two lights on the front will turn on momentarily, along with the green light on the CD drive, then the computer makes a quiet "clunk" noise, and the lights turn off. It's just a black screen; no words at all, no logos, etc. No beeps. It will repeat this cycle over and over until I turn off the computer.
It did this twice before, and the computer would eventually turn on after about five minutes, but it won't do anything now.
I tried removing the battery, holding the power button for thirty seconds, then replacing the battery... and it didn't do anything.
The AC adapter works, the green light is lit.
And I tried switching outlets with no help, either.

New XPS 13 (9333) Constant Noise
I have just recently received a new XPS 13 with the new haswell i7 processor, 8gb RAM, 256gb ssd, and windows 8.1.
I really like this laptop, but it makes a really bizarre noise. It happens constantly as soon as its powered on, like a high pitched whirring sound from somewhere beneath the keyboard. It also seems pretty inconsistent, like it flickers in frequency, and when you use programs (e.g scroll through webpages) it gets louder.
Can anyone help me with what the issue is here? Any help appreciated.
how to reimage/ create restoring disks if windows7 cannot boot (E6440)
Hi all:
Recently my company gave me a Latitud E6440; during first week of use the equpment suggest me make/build the recover/restore disks; but I was on a hurry and click later. My system wasn't ordered with from fabric restoring disks; so no cds came with the package.
After a windows patch update and driver update from dell site; the windows 7 becomes unbooteable; I try to boot from a windows 7 cd and hit recover but told me that recover must be done from the exact windows 7 that I receive with the machine.
To let do some work I use a usbthumb drive with linux; exploring the original hard disk I saw that there is a recover partition with the images of the S.O.
I use Dell tech support chat service and they for some reason send me an another hard disk. I installed but is a fresh new hard disk. There isn't a RECOVER partition even.
I have send some emails to the technician to clear up how I will install windows 7 (the version that came with the machine) if I no have the disks??? I'm in process to install Windows® Automated Installation Kit (AIK) for Windows® 7 on another PC; looking to mount the original hard disk and try to reconstruct the restoring disks.
Did any body knows how to extract and build the restoring disks from a unbooteable hard disk??? Or somebody knows if Dell have a procedure to accomplish this task.
Thanks!
Syncup removal jpeg problem
Hi all,
I have just uninstalled Nero Syncup as is what seriously slowing down an office laptop. Now there is a problem uploading jpeg files(to Ebay), they are not recognised as jpegs on their website but they were prior to the removal of Syncup. Is this perhaps due to a file association problem caused by the uninstall?
I do not want to reinstall the software, it was occupying 90% of CPU usage while the machine was idle.
Any ideas?
Thanks
E6420 Not recognizing USBs when on a docking station
New Dell 6420 Running Windows 7 32-bit-- while connected to the docking station, it does not recognize the USB ports. Ive connected my USB mouse into each usb port and recieve nothing. I connect it to the port on the laptop itself, while docked, and its recognized. My initial thought was bad docking station, tried a different one (both are new) with the same result. I actually ended up trying 4 all together during my whole process. Ive done the whole reboot, powercyle on and off the docking station with same result. I tested the usb ports while docked in the bios-- the mouse is recognized in all ports. This is while the laptop is docked, in the bios settings. So i figured Windows issue, maybe a bad installation.. i started Windows and now all but 2 usb ports on the docking station (or the port replicator i should say) are detecting the usb mouse and other usb devices. I also checked device manager (while docked and undocked) the only thing amiss is an unknown device under usb devices (this unknown device stays there while docked and undocked). Any suggestions on what may be going on and what i should do fix this... im tryin to stay away from doing a complete re-install.
Thanks.
