My XPS 17 powered-down a couple of weeks ago--no response from the power switch. The blue-ring on the power cord goes out when plugged-into the laptop. I tried a brand new cord and had the same thing occur.
I have had the DC power jack replaced, but I'm still having the same problem. Am I looking at a new motherboard?

My INSPIRON N5010 suddenly died! Computer has absolutely no power to start power.
I have tried different plugs and batteries - no change.
One observation:
The charger is working (green light is shining) when is plugged to electric system, but stops working once is plugged to the laptop.
Please help me to diagnose the problem and help find the solution. It is extremely urgent!!!

The wifi switch at the side of my dell laptop (dell inspiron 1525) is broken therefore I can't switch on my wifi. What's the solution to either fixing the side button or getting the wifi to work another way?

I recently bought a new speaker to connect wirelessly to my laptop as both my headphone sockets have snapped off (not massively impressed by the build quality on them). I thought it had bluetooth but now I am not sure.
I dont appear to have a key for it anywhere that I can see so am thinking not.
Is there a way of finding out for sure if it is installed and if not is it easy to get it installed?
I have tried finding out info on this site but it wont recognise my service tag or my order number for some reason.
Any advice would be much appreciated

I have purchased Dell Inspiron N 5010 two years ago. Recently it was facing some problems, so needed to reinstall windows 7. But the cd which came along with for re-installation was found corrupted. On contacting dell, they advised to purchase a new OS Disk, already made a payment to dell about it, but the shipment came is of Windows Vista rather than Windows 7 HB. On contacting dell they told to directly ask the vendor for it.............................. What a kind of pathetic situation???????????????

I have looked for 2 days for an answer & cant find it.... Im trying a clean install of vista home basic 32bit for my dell latitude d530 & it wont let me continue without a cd/dvd device driver, I have updated the drives firmware but still no go, I have tried everything i can of seems quite a few are having this problem but nobody really know the answer... all suggestions welcome. I have a Inspiron M5040 Dell laptop and it is running really slow. I created the recovery discs and run them . The problem is that it keeps making two partions every time I run the recovery discs . The C Partion which is 97 GB and and F partion that is 353GB that I don't wnat. How the heck do I just create the C partion when I run the recovery discs. I am doing recovery off of the hard disk now to see if I can get one partion created. The Disks I created should have wiped the problem out.
I have an Epson Perfection 3200 photo scanner, it worked fine with xp professional but now I have windows 7 and I can't one find a driver to make my scanner compatible with os win 7 and I really need my scanner can anyone help?

I would like to clarify what kind of RAM will work on my laptop.
Now there is a "native" memory: Hynix HMT125S6BFR8C-H9. 2048 MBytes x 2 pieces= 4096 MBytes.
Kind of like can work on at 1333 but only works on 1064.
Should be replaced as the inspection showed failure.
Of course, that does not make sense to put 4GB, will increase the maximum!
My laptop supports memory 1333 or 1066 only?
The memory of the manufacturer, the maximum compatible with my laptop?
I understand that the maximum amount of (4096 MBytes x 2 pieces)= 8192 MBytes?

My Inspiron M5030 stopped working a day ago. I have had the computer for about two years now and suddenly it just stopped working properly. The only thing I hear is a repetitive beeping sound and the fan 
. My son says that it may be because of the program he downloaded. He downloaded a program called Frost-wire. I should have reacted quickly once i noticed my mouse stopped working and the computer slowed.
So what I was wondering is if the problem is because the memory that stopped working or something else?
On my Dell Inspiron E1505 laptop, which has an Intel dual-core T2300 CPU running @ 1.66 GHz, when I run the MY DELL / Dell Support Center software & run either a default scan or a custom scan under the Checkup feature, all the tests pass except the Floating Point Unit test, which simply runs indefinitely & never completes (I gave it 27 hours once). Otherwise the laptop seems to be OK. Anyone have any ideas?

My laptop won't start. The problem started after I installed Photo Shop Elements from a thumb drive. When I attempted to restart the laptop, it never came back on. I am not sure if PSE has anything to do with the problem.
When I press the power button, it turns blue, and the fan blows. Nothing ever shows up on the screen. I tried inserting a Windows install disc before startup, and I can hear the drive turning, but still nothing. I checked the HDD in another computer, and it seems fine (was able to backup data).
Any thoughts on where to start with my troubleshooting? Of course, the laptop is only 4 months out of its 4-year warranty.
Hi, i have the inspiron 15R 5010 laptop, i am trying to upgrade the ram to 8GB.
i bought the "Corsair Vengeance DDR3 (8GB)" ram 2 x 4, but when i put them in the machine, all i get is a multi coloured screen, then the machine turns off?
anyone got any ideas why?
is it the ram?
is it the pc?
should i go with the DELL ram, which is more expensive?
any help will be greatly appreciated.

my Dell Studio 1737 as just started not to charge, on bootup it reads that my charger needs replacing. I have tried 3 120w chargers, and it's still the same.
Any ideas please.
