Dell Latitude D630 Won't Power On
I have a Dell Latitude D630 that I purchased refurbished from Dell about a year ago. 2 days ago I spilled some liquid into the keyboard and it proceeded to get into everything inside the case. So I completely stripped the laptop down and cleaned everything with 99.5% alcohol and a horse hair brush. Put everything back together exactly how it was supposed to be. But now it will not power up. I plug in the AC power adapter and the battery light flashes green once and then goes off.
I've spent 2 days trying every little tip and trick I could find on the internet. Holding the power button for 30 seconds then plugging it back in with no battery installed just straight AC power. Holding the power button for 2 minutes then plugging it back in. The first time I held it for 2 minutes then plugged it back in, it went through a diagnostic test and gave me an error code but I didn't have time to write it down before it turned itself off. Also before the diagnostic test the three lights on the left hand side flashed in sequence from left to right a few times, then I heard a sort of tune come from the motherboard.
I've searched all over google and cannot find anyone else that has had the battery light flash once then turn off. I've even researched the POST codes but none of those happen. The battery light simply flashes one time, then goes out.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am at my wits end.
Latitude D630 will not power on
My Dell latitude D630 will not power up. When I push the power button, the power indicator light comes on, the 3 lights on the left come on, with the middle one blinking and the outer lights are solid, and the cylinder shaped light by the power indicator light comes on. It does this for about 20 seconds, then turns off again. Any suggestions or help is appreciated.
Camera disconnect issues in my Dell
Dell Studio 1737 High CPU Temperature
I have a Dell Studio that I purchased on 3/9/2009. It is a great computer.
I for various reasons decided to upgrade the processor from the T4200 to the P9700. I was amazed how easy the upgrade was.
- I removed the bottom panel
- Took off the heat sink and cleaned it by wiping off the old paste and blowing out the fins
- Then I removed the old CPU by twisting the black screw.
- I installed the new CPU.
- Applied High Quality Thermal Grease and spread it with a credit card.
- I put the heat sink back on.
- Then I put the bottom panel back on
When I first started it up, I used Speed Fan 4.41 to check the CPU temps. They were 42 C. Which is what I would expect when idling.
I considered the job well done.
However a few hours later My wife said the computer was running slow and I checked the CPU temps and they were at 62C cruzing the internet and using outlook.
I then down loaded Intel's diagnostic utility and it said that the temp after a cpu test was 10C below maximum and passed the test.
I also took the time and upgraded the BIOS from A04 to A08.
As I write this the CPU temp is at 50C and the CPU is hovering at 2%.
I wish I knew what the T4200 temp was before I removed it.
Any suggestions or comments? I would love to get more data and get some idea of other people's CPU, Current Load, and TEMP.
Did I miss anything? Should I be worried?

Dell inspiron 1721 power up issue
Hello folks. My laptop had stopped powering up. The dell screen never appears. I have tried holding the key with the power button and the screen changes colors. Holding the [fn] key and power does not seem to do anything. The blue power light does come on for a few seconds as the hard drive starts to spin up then seems to make a "tink" sound and it shuts down. F8 & f12 don't do anything. Any ideas?
Real problems with Dell XPS 13
I have had my XPS 13 laptop for less than a year. I certainly have problems with the touch pad. My experience tells me that the case is not rigid enough. When you type and rest your palms or sides of your hands on the edges of the keyboard or area removed from the touch pad it may cause the cursor to move and the typing with it (and into another sentence.) Much time is spent correcting sentences. If you suspend your hands and fingers over the keys while you type (not so comfortable) this problem is not encountered. Often I disable the touch pad and use a mouse.
I am typing my first post on my iPad as today the XPS laptop just stopped working. The screen went blank and the machine won't respond to control-alt-delete nor holding down the power button. Now it is with my help desk for "repair" or worse.
I've had many laptops, Think Pads and Dells, and never any problems. This is, in concept, a great machine. It's the Mac Book Air for those of us who think they still need to use Windows. The Dell XPS is very poorly designed, and a disaster for me. If I have to pay to replace the machine I will buy a Mac Book Air.
Tomorrow I will post what I learn from my help desk.
Dell what are you going to do about this ?
Toggle touchpad woes
~2 month old Win8, Inspiron 15, 7000 series – 7537 purchased from Dell direct
Fn + F3 does not turn off the touchpad. Per link from support email, I installed the suggested driver (http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=15K08&fileId=3368666653&osCode=W864&productCode=inspiron-15-7537&languageCode=EN&categoryId=IN).
Not only does Fn + F3 not suspend the touchpad but right clicking on mouse etc in device manager does not have a 'disable' option--just uninstall, update and something else.
Other than downloading a 3rd party utility (Touchpad Blocker), anyone got an idea?

Bluetooth problem
Hello.
I recently can not receive any files via bluetooth. Everything was working fine and all of a sudden it does not work. It does send files but doesn't receive. I tried checking to see if there was a driver update, my driver is up to date. Also tried turning on/off the signal. In the bluetooth settings tried checking the box that says "Allow bluetooth devices to find this computer" and any other box that allows connection is checked so I don't know what's wrong, please help :(
My laptop is the Dell inspiron N5110. I'm running Windows 7. My bluetooth device is from Intel Corporation.
I ran the troubleshooting and it did find something I'll leave the attachment below.
Dell Inspiron 14z
Hey,
I have read more than a few threads regarding the issue I am having, but have gotten to an impasse. The computer will turn on, but will not load anything. The only thing I see is the Dell Logo, with a progress bar that makes no progress, and the two F-key options on the bottom right.
Upon loading, I can not load the BIOS set-up, or anything. I have tried doing the diagnostics (FN + Power) and nothing too. I can not even access the system recovery partition!
First thing I tried was taking the computer apart, and getting at the battery. Took it out, and then put it back together and did the static discharge - holding power button for 30 seconds. Nothing
Took it apart again, and took the hard drive out. Put it back together, and booted up, and was able to access the BIOS. Set everything back to defaults (it already appeared to be that way), saved changes, and such. In the meantime, I popped the hard drive into an external reader, and the hard drive appeared to be working fine.
Put the hard drive back into the computer, and booted up, and again, nothing. Is there something off with the connection between hard drive and board? What else should I try?!
Thanks in advance!
Mike
E7440 Can I use the mSata drive as boot drive?
Hi guys, I got an E7440 (not the touch). It has the 500GB 5400 hard drive and nothing in the mSata slot. Can I buy an mSata drive and use that as my boot drive and use the HDD as a secondary drive? If that's possible I am thinking about cloning the HDD to the mSata drive make a change in the bios so that it boots from the mSata and then format the HDD. Is my thinking safe? Thanks.
Small White Lines across the top of screen - need some advise
I purchased a dell espiron 15R about a year ago and it now has some small white lines across the top of the screen. They are about an inch total...line 20 or so of them. My son doesn't complain but to me it seems like that's a problem. Heard it could be a driver...not too sure as I am not the most savvy tech person on the planet. He plays a lot of games on it.
Any of you folks have an idea what it could be. Besides that it runs like a well oiled machine...errr lapton.
Regards
Michael
windows 8 wont start
I have a dell inspirion 15 (3521) laptop/notebook running windows 8, has been working fine since purchase about 2 months ago, but when i attempted to bring it out of standby today, windows wouldnt start , so i ran dells diagnostic test and there were no problems found ?, i just cant get windows to start, earlier in the day, windows installed some updates, i dont know what they were, but my thinking is that the updates have altered windows in some way, i do not have a disc for windows 8, as it was pre-installed before purchase, i havnt changed any settings within windows, or added any new hardware or software before this issue arose, any suggestions woud be appreciated, Thanks.

New inspiron 14 touchscreen not working
Yesterday i received my new ordered Dell Inspiron 14 and from the start on the touchscreen is not working. As my order confirmed the pc contains a touchscreen. I ran the Dell pc diagnotics and didn't find anything unusual, furthermore i couldn't find anything special in the settings or the drivers. Anyone has an idea how i might be able to solve this?
Thanks in advance,
No lights on Inspiron 7110
You don't usually get to drop a laptop a second time, but I did, and I'll have the opportunity to drop it a third time. (I'll try not to!!!!)
(FWIW, I merely slammed the lid on an Acer at school because of interminable problems and it wrecked the hard drive.)
So I appreciate Dell's construction of my laptop. I even managed to break off a plastic corner on the first drop, after which it booted immediately and thankfully.
But last night (drop #2) was scary. Battery had been ejected even though locked. No lights anywhere. Power cord had come loose, too. Replaced battery. No lights. Connected power cord. No lights.
Just like a few weeks ago after a blue screen. No drop; had installed driver for new USB thumb drive immediately before; I went away and came back to blue screen.
NOTHING I did that day would power it up until finally I (desperately) pushed the button in the upper right corner, the one whose label looks like a monitor with a diagonal line through it.
Immediately the power button light came on and my heart began beating again.
SAME THING happened last night after the drop.
WHAT DOES THAT BUTTON DO?? Or was it just a coincidence. Both times. If I push the other two (gears and wrench), I get settings and diagnostics. This one does nothing except wake up my laptop, probably not its intended purpse.
Back to Dell. Thank you for solid, shock-resistant construction. There's no way this machine should still be working. It fell from a height of 30 inches onto a thin-vinyl-tile-covered concrete floor last night. FIrst time it fell onto an asphalt driveway.
(... NOW... if I could only get reliable external USB drive performance... (This predates the first drop.) And if only I wouldn't be told I have no AC adapter every few weeks. (This happened the first week I had the laptop.))(Other than these two problems, I'm happy enough.)(Delighted, since it seems indestructible.)
BUT SERIOUSLY what is that button supposed to do?

New XPS 13 (9333) Constant Noise
I have just recently received a new XPS 13 with the new haswell i7 processor, 8gb RAM, 256gb ssd, and windows 8.1.
I really like this laptop, but it makes a really bizarre noise. It happens constantly as soon as its powered on, like a high pitched whirring sound from somewhere beneath the keyboard. It also seems pretty inconsistent, like it flickers in frequency, and when you use programs (e.g scroll through webpages) it gets louder.
Can anyone help me with what the issue is here? Any help appreciated.
