Have Windows 8 Op Sys, downloaded the Apps for Netflix and HuluPlus get message that Windows Graphics Driver update required. Have updated the Drivers to no avail. Very Very frustrating.

Inspiron 15z ultrabook with windows 8 after dell update, restart is stuck on the dell logo
The Inspiron pass Diagnostics, no error code, everything is good
I try these following steps:
1. Restart the laptop and start tapping the F2 key at the Dell logo for enter the BIOS.
2. Navigate to the “Advanced” menu.
3. Change the SATA operation/selection in BIOS from Intel Smart Response to AHCI.
4. Press F10 to save changes and exit.
5. Reboot the system.
6. Go back into the BIOS by tapping the F2 key and change the SATA operation/selection in BIOS from AHCI to Intel Smart Response.
7. Save changes and exit by pressing the F10 key.
Also, try these steps:
First I select refresh system but get another error message: “The drive where Windows is installed is locked. Unlock the drive and try again.”
And it gives me only a “cancel” option to get back.
I went back to the menu and tried to reset the system. I got another error message: “Unable to reset your PC. A required drive partition is missing.”
And it gives me only a “cancel” option to get back.
Can anyone help me? I need laptop to do my homework.

laptop crashed and touchpad not working anymore
Hello,
Hopefully someone will be able to assist me in figuring out what is wrong with my laptop. I have an alienware m17x r4.
It crashed a couple times. The first time i was watching a video in fullscreen and the screen went black and it just turned off. I turned it back on and windows failed to start. This happened twice and as i was about to get concerned it finally booted and everything seemed fine then about 4 seconds after i logged into windows it crashed again, with the same thing. It turned on fine right away but the mouse was a little "fidgety" and then completely stopped working after about 10 seconds. Other than that everything seems fine, I tried restoring from a restore point 4 days ago and it still is not working properly. Any ideas what is wrong? In the device manager i checked the drivers and they are all up to date.

HDMI question.
Was asked this question by a family member:
Is it okay/safe to leave the 'TV side' of the HDMI cable plugged in to the TV ? (Quite cumbersome to plug in every time).
If it matters the TV is a 2007 Panasonic (Plasma) and the laptop is a Vostro 3560/Win7-64/Intel 4000.
Also, I read that long HDMI use is hard on plasma TVs especially older ones (ie pixel burnout). Is this true and what would be a safe amount of time if this is true ? Opinions appreciated.

hey i have the inspiron n5110 and it kept turning off sometimes but it would always turn back on..today when i turned it on..it powers up..but the screen stays blank and beeps 3 times repeatedly ... then it turns off instanly when i touch the power button.its been a year and a half since i bought.

Inspiron 3521 with A06 BIOS installed - fan still does not switch off
Hello everyone,
I believe this issue calls for a new topic since the original topic was posted before the A06 BIOS update got released.
I have a brand new Inspiron 3521 with an i3 3217u CPU. From the moment I turned the laptop on, the fan has been on constantly, around 4800rpm, regardless of which operating system I'm running. Last time I checked the BIOS diagnostics software, the CPU was 48°C. I installed the latest BIOS update (A06), as suggested, but the issue still remains. I would like to know if this is known by Dell and if you are preparing a new BIOS update to eliminate this issue.
Please get back to me for any details that may help you solving this case.

Dell Inspirion 15r 5520 Heating problems
My Dell inspiron 5520 has been heating up way too much and i dont know what to do. I've confirmed that there is no dust clogged up and i always keep my laptop on the hard wood table. I downloaded a program called speedfan, it showed my core temp at 55(degree celcius) when idle, 70(degrees celcius) when streaming or surfing the net and 90 (degrees celcius) when gaming. It gets so hot to the point of the laptop shutting down.
The laptop is just 6 months old and i still have my warranty, but i think the warranty is void since i was dumb and had a friend of mine dissemble it as he thought that there might have been dust clogging the vents but there werent any. Can some on please help me on this matter.

My M17x-R2 won't start from time to time (stuck in Blackscreen)
Hallo Community,
first of all, my English isn't very good, so don't blame me for my writing style...
Here is my Problem:
1) Nearly everytime I start up my M17x-R2 the screen won't light up, but the Keyboard lights up. The Fan for the graphic card runs on high speed and that's it, the Slotload drive will not be checked. Also the Alien-Head keeps glowing but the Eyes are dark. The Laptop than runs forever in this state, but I normaly shut it down after 10 minutes or in even a shorter period by plugging out the Power Cord. There are no Beeping sounds and the NUM, CAPS and ROLL Indicator Lights can not be toggled.
2) But here comes the funny thing about my problem. If I unplug the Power cord from the back of the Laptop, pull out the Battery pack and hold the Power Button for about 20 seconds (readed on different forums), then I plug the Power cord back in and mostly the computer starts normal.
3) After I shut down windows: The Computer often Returns to 1) when you try to start it again with the Power Button but sometimes it starts again without failures.
Does someone know this problem? Or is it just some sort of (stupid) Bug?
Things I have done:
1) Re-Installed the A08 BIOS => Problem still exists
2) Complete Teardown of the Laptop (With the Official Guide from Dell, and I am an Electronic Engineer so I know how to handle Computers) for Cleaning and checking where the problem could be.
3) Updated to A10 BIOS => Problem still exists
4) System Diagnostics => All OK
Also, could it be that the BIOS somehow got confused? Because when the problem first appeared I was pressing F2, slightly before the Alien Boot screen would appear.
(Also my Data from the 750GB HDD is lost because of this bug, but my Boot SSD can boot up Windows without problems)
My System:
CPU: Intel 740QMGPU: GTX285M Single CardMemory: *2x4GB Corsair Vengeance*
HDD: *240GB OCZ AGILITY 3 SSD* + *750GB WD Caviar Black*
* = Modified, not standard configuration (The Laptop worked more than a Year with these Modified Parts)

Dell Duo 1090 Tablet Touch Screen disabled
I upgraded my Dell Duo 1090 to a legal copy of Windows 8 (technically unsupported by Dell). It worked fine for months and then suddenly the following happened:
- Touch screen disabled
- Pen and Touch Setting missing from Control Panel
- No Calbration settings
Any ideas?

Dell Inspiron M5030 - black screen
Hello,
Like one day i tried turning on my laptop but it didn't turn up and had black screen and 7 beeps, then i search around in Google looking for a way to fix and i opened up the computer, took out the 2 RAMS and kept it back, and this cosmo battery came out and i had to put it back again. That's all i did and when i tried opening back the laptop, it still has black screen but no beeps but its making the starting up (fan sound) and just back screen.
It would really help a lot if anyone could help me in this because my laptop had all my data and i really need it soon.

Precision m6400 bios flash from a10 to a12, now pci bridge and dvd disappear after hibernate on windows7 x64
I recently flashed my bios from a10 to a12, successfully. Next thing I noticed is that my dvd drive is missing (not shown in device manager) after resuming from hibernate. What I did see is that the device called 'Intel 82801 PCI Bridge - 2448" is disabled after resume. If I enable it, the dvd does not reappear, even after scanning for hardware changes. After a full reboot, the DVD shows up as disabled in device manager, works fine after enabling. Next time I use hibernate, the whole problem starts again. Tried reinstalling Intel chipset drivers to no avail. Even tried going back to a10 bios, no luck there either. What to try next?

XPS 13 Ultra book - BIOS A08 sometimes stuck after restart or shutdown
Hi,
I have XPS 13 ULTRA book 13 (L321).
BIOS version lsatest: A08.
I found that after restart or shutdown (not sleep/standby), the status bar of Dell's BIOS stuck in the middle and freeze, that happen as well on my friend's computer (same model and bios version) .
Turning on&off resolve the problem.
Did anyone face this problem?
Is there any solution?

5720 with Start PXE over IPv4 message
Tried to start my 5720 this morning and got the above message. Read up a bit here and tried to restart No F2 key available. So I tried F12 (boot options). Changed the boot from UEF1 to legacy and could see the F2 "option" when I re-started, but I can't get anything to come up when I hit that key. The computer continues on to a screen that says (after some other stuff...) Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller Series V1.27 (10/31/11). Then it lists the Mac Addr and keeps churning until it starts that screen over.
I have owned the computer since December and it's a Windows 8 machine.
So I'm guessing that it's trying to boot out of sequence? But I can't access anything to let me restructure the boot sequence.

Keyboard skin for Inspiron 15 Notebook 3521
I just bought an Inspiron 15 (3521) and want to get a specific keyboard skin for that model. I had one for my old ThinkPad and when I spilled coffee on it, the keyboard skin basically saved my laptop. Does anyone know of a skin for this model? Thanks!

inspiron n5110 problem...please help
my inspiron n5110 is making a continuous beeping sound when starting and it stops at dell logo and the bar is filled to its half then a written msg appears (reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key ).. i run the diagnostics an error appears (no hard drive detected)..i run the setup and beside fixed HDD is none ....is it a problem with the motherboard or with the hard disk

when turn on my laptop , temperature is 75-85c , Without doing work.
and when doing heavy work like game is 99-100c and Sometimes Automatic shut down laptop.
i have table with 2 2500rpm fans !!
