Has someone noticed ghost images (screen burn-in) on Dell XPS 12 Duo?

I recently noticed ghost images on my Dell XPS 12 Duo. If a bright image on dark background stays on the screen for a couple of minutes and then I switch to somewhat dark background I can clearly see the previous image on the screen for some time before it fades away. Once I noticed it I started spotting even more subtle ghost images. I even managed to capture it in a picture with a low-end digital camera - http://imgur.com/a/RIYff (notice the tray icons clearly seen in the Win 8 start screen and even the facebook ad is visible). It is far more clear when you look at the actual screen and not on a picture. I already arranged replacement laptop (as I had other issues with this one) but yesterday I read news about mass defects in Apple's Retina MacBooks ( http://www.ibtimes.com/print/macbook-pro-retina-display-problems-apple-faces-class-action-suit-ghosting-issue-1129939 ) with practically the same issue. Now I wonder if it is possible that all Dell XPS 12 Duo screens have this problem.

So anyone else seeing this on his machine?

inspiron 1545 keyboard issues

I've noticed lately that some of the function keys are not working properly; the f3 (battery) does not work, the f2 key and esc key sometimes seem to be erratic. The Caps Lock key works, but does not show the Icon, and the touchpad seems to be a bit less accurate.

Could this be a driver issue? I will contact tech support but would like to know what can be done for this or what might be causing it? thanks

Dell Inspiron 7720 SE - Gpu boost is turning off

I have decided to create a new post regarding this issue, which wasn´t solved at last bios update (A12)..

GPU boost (OC to 835MHZ) is not working anymore and stick the frequency at default level all the time (745MHZ).

This happens when this laptop is disconnected from AC and it´s permanent stuck till you remove and re-insert the battery to reset somekind of memory.

I would understand if this feature will work on battery to save energy, but this is clearly a bug and after reconnecting AC, it should enable GPU boost again, but it doesn´t.

So, everytime i accidentally disconnect my laptop from power supply, my GPU boost is turned off and i have to painfully turn off the laptop and re-insert the battery to make it work again.

Many users registered this issue on forums all around the world... Please, don´t say it´s a feature to protect the laptop....

Thanks for your help!

Dell Inspiron 3520 turns off when I plug in the charger

So I had to refresh my computer about a month ago because I didn't have a CD driver cause Macafee deleted it. (Idk how it just did) but after I refreshed it and got everything back to the way it was, whenever I am playing a game on my computer (dota 2 for those who are wondering, it's run thru steam) and my computer says it has 15 percent battery life left and to plug in the charger. When I plug the charger in my computer screen goes black then the computer completely shuts off. Now this is just becoming annoying because first off the battery didn't last in the beginning anyways, now everytime I plug it in it just completely shuts off as if it's a forced shut down. Please I don't feel like dealing with this. the computer is not under warranty anymore also. Thanks

Wireless switch not working

I have a Precision M4700 with a Dell Wireless 1540 802.11a/g/n wireless card.  The motherboard and graphics card were recently replaced, and since then, I have not been able to turn on the wireless card.  According to the device manager, the card is working properly and the drivers are all up to date.  Fn+F2 does not work either.  I have checked the BIOS, and it lists the wlan card as being disabled.  Is there any way that I can enable the wireless card without having to open up the computer?

"Delete" key stopped working (Dell Inspiron 15R 5520)

Hi All,

I have a pretty frustrating problem here - my "delete" key stopped working at all suddenly on my laptop (Dell Inspiron 15R 5520 - W7 Home Premium SP1)

I have removed the keyboard, put it back in but still nothing. I tried to clean the data cable with which it connects to the board, too, but was no good, either. I thought it'd gone loose or dirty or something...

It's not working either under normal or safe mode.

The funny thing is that all the other keys around function properly, including fn keys, prntscr, insert or home, pg up.

Any idea what could go wrong?

Thanks in advance,

Richard

Dell Inspiron 15R 5537 Screen/Graphics Problems

Sorry if I have managed to post this in the wrong area; first time in the forums. I have an Inspiron 15R 5537 that I purchased around Christmas time I believe. It has worked perfectly until about three weeks ago. I set my laptop down on a bed and came back within a few minutes to find my screen looked very different then when I left it. The screen had become very pixelated and the colors were highly saturated. It seemed like the contrast had been completely turned up on my screen, and yet when I checked the graphic settings, everything is at the default settings. No, water was not spilled. The heat in the room was a normal 60 degrees in my house. I have no other ideas on how to resolve the issue. Please, any ideas are welcome.

L521x supports sata3 ??

from the post http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3518/p/19469159/20359261.aspx I had the idea that the L521x supports sata3. I replaced the harddisk with a Samsung evo 840 SATA3 SSD HD.

this is what I get

$ dmesg | grep -i sata | grep 'link up'
[ 1.726388] ata1: SATA link up 3.0 Gbps (SStatus 123 SControl 300)
[ 2.062740] ata2: SATA link up 3.0 Gbps (SStatus 123 SControl 300)
[ 2.383073] ata3: SATA link up 1.5 Gbps (SStatus 113 SControl 300)

So the Samsung is either ata1 or ata2. ata3 is probably the dvd. Am I doing something wrong? Will an upgrade with a caddy http://hddcaddy.eu/2013/06/19/dell-xps-15z-l521x-15-hdd-caddy/ work if I use the ata3 port? I already chose a sata3 sdd based on the information provided by a dell employee. So it would be nice if I could get an answer to this one.

greets,
Henry

system disable message

My Dell Inspiron 15 displays a blue screen and asks for a current password then after 3 attempts the screen error wording changes to "System Disable" and a series of numbers along with my service tag number. Could this have been caused by the recent Internet Explorer loophole and how is this repaired? Based on the research I have done so far, I understand its an internal password issue not affiliated with Microsoft.

DEAD 17R-5720

Last night, while watching netflix, my laptop warned me only 10% battery was remaining. Immediately the laptop died when the AC adapter was fully plugged in. The battery was cool and the laptop wasn't overheating. I suspect the fuse needs replaced? Can anyone confirm this? The motherboard was replaced in september, due to malfunctioning GPU. I know this laptop has a terrible history of motherboard problems, and has definitely been a hassle for me.. Any help or advice is appreciated.

Inspiron 15 7537 • Battery Plugged In, Not Charging

$

I purchased an Inspiron 15 7537 four weeks ago. This afternoon, I noticed some odd behaviour with my laptop's battery notification icon in the taskbar ~

Scenario 1

When laptop is NOT plugged in ~
• Taskbar notification on mouseover says "73% remaining"
• Icon shows battery meter with slight drop in usage
• While I am using the unplugged laptop, the battery meter does not drop from 73%

Scenario 2(a)

When laptop is first plugged in ~
• Taskbar notification on mouseover says "No battery is detected"
• Icon shows a dimmed battery, plug on the left, and a red X

Scenario 2(b)

Approx. 60-90 seconds after laptop has been plugged in ~
• Taskbar notification on mouseover changes to  "73% available (plugged in, not charging)"
• Icon shows regular battery with a plug on the left side with slight drop in usage

Given these three ambiguous notifications, I don't know if it's my battery that is not working as it should or the notifications icon is on the fritz.

All three scenarios occur regardless of whether the AC adapter is plugged directly into the wall or into a power bar/surge protector

I am using the AC adapter that came with the laptop

The LED on/off light is lit in both Scenario 2(a) and 2(b)

I have not removed the battery and reseated it (involves removing four screws and entire bottom panel and, unless push comes to shove, I'm not comfortable doing this)

I have not checked the BIOS for unusual AC adapter messages (as I have read others have done by pressing F3 during the Dell logo display ~ again, not in my comfort zone, but would do so if I had to)

For what this info is worth, I'm using Windows 8.1 and the default Dell power plan. This is what I get after my laptop has been plugged in and in constant use for nine hours ~

Yes, I am aware my laptop is covered for one year, however, I'm hoping for an easy answer or explanation that doesn't involve me having to send a four-week old laptop to Dell Canada for parts replacement.

Any and all advice and insight is appreciated. Thank you.

Dell Latitude 10 Miracast WDDM 1.3

Dell Latitude 10 Miracast WDDM 1.3 I have two Dell Latitude 10 Tablets and I can not get either to connect to the Netgear Push2TV adapter. They both see it and let you enter the code but then nothing. These tablets came with win 8 and I upgraded them to win 8.1 pro. The charm bar has no way to connect to a device option. It seems that I need WDDM 1.3 which was suppose to come with the 8.1 upgrade but when I look I still have WDDM 1.2 Listed. Dell shows in their video on this tablet that you can connect to this adapter but when I contacted them they just wanted to sell me support services and could not answer my question. Is this function not available for this tablet yet with the 8.1 upgrade or do I need an additional driver or software. I have installed all updates and dell drivers and still can not get it to work.

Bought a new dell battery and still my laptop battery doesn't charge!

Hello.

I've been using a Dell inspiron 1545 from about 3 years now and exactly after 2 years of my buy, the battery failed and it started showing me to replace the battery and always notified me about contacting dell for a new battery.

I didn't take this of much concern so i just ignored the message and kept on using my battery with my adapter plugged in. After 4-5 months of such usage, My battery completely failed and doesn't even offer me even a minute of backup, when i remove the power socket. Then i realized the importance of a new battery and then bought a new battery from Dell.

Its the same battery with the same specs and also the same family type. After i removed my defected battery, I replaced my new bought Dell battery and realized that my battery is working fine. its charging well but at some time, it says "Plugged in, But not charging" Which is rare for any new battery, which is bought brand new.

This is how it looks now after i remove the AC adapter plug and when i depend on the battery backup. it is providing me a backup, but I see a yellow exclamatory mark beside it. Which I think should not be present. it also says "Low battery" when there's already 99% of battery left!

I've also followed some online steps

1) updated by BIOS to the latest  2) Followed some other steps like uninstalling the battery ACI in the device manager and etc...

i would love to get this problem solved. I'm using a PA-12 family adapter, which is also a replaced one. So any help on solving the issue would be appreciated.

THANKS!
