After pressing power button, it shows Dell logo and then saying something like ...Your system runs into a problem... and it tried to fix the problem. then restart. It kept doing that for 2 - 3 hours. Any helps please...

Hi ALL, DELL,

I purchased DELL XPS 15 9530 and I thought this is the best laptop I had. However, some application looks very small and importantly, Cisco Packet Tracer looks messed up on this laptop (but from my other asus laptop, it looks perfectly.)

Is there any solution to fix the display issue?

Thanks,

Dell Inspiron 7537 - Gaming Temperature

Hi,

When I play game on my inspiron 7537, after 1hr or 1.5hr, temperature readings are around 80~85 Celsius. Games i play are call of duty black ops 1, 2, NFS most wanted 2012... in 1920x1080 with little high settings.

Today I played call of duty black ops2 for 1.5 hrs and this (See the Max temp.... GPU went upto 140 C)

Is that normal for this laptop? Cause in my previous Studio 1558, gaming temp for CPU and GPU were like 70~75 Celsius.

Thanks

I just upgraded a Dell Latitude 420 to Windows7. When I docked it to the docking station, it does not recognize the USB ports on the dock.  The USB ports on the notebook work fine but the usb ports on the docking station now do not work.  The usb ports on the dock worked fine when Windows XP was on the computer.

Dell XPS 13 making High-Pitched Noise (again)

I recently got a replacement XPS 13 due to my first one having issues with high-pitched noise coming out from somewhere inside. Technicians and Customer Service couldn't point out the culprit so they replaced the laptop altogether. And now I am having the exact same issue on my replacement machine. I see from different forum posts that this issue was discovered as early as May/June 2012 and it is still out there. I assume this might be "standard", but people don't notice it due to the frequency.

For such a premium machine with a pricy tag on it (the model I got: i7, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD (1080p edition btw) was priced at NOK 10495 with standard options) you'd expect such issues to be non-existant, if not fixed by now.

I LOVE the XPS 13 in every aspect possible; the lightweight construction, premium feel and solid performance. But I'm often in very quiet areas with this machine, and the noise drives me insane. (I'm a student)

Latitude E6440 Roadmap

Looking to replace my existing Dell E6430 quad-core.  I want a 14" screen with a 4th generation quad-core processor.  Prefer not having an upgraded video card, just want to use the Intel integrated graphics.  Solid-state drive and a DVD/CD drive.  The machine primary purpose is software development.

I really miss the ability to fully configure the Latitude laptop online.  Please bring back more configuration options on your machines, especially processor options.

Can you share anything about product plans regarding a replacement for E6440?

Also, will there ever be a Precision laptop with a 14" screen?

Latitude E5430 - Problems with fan control

$

0

Hi, I just bought a Latitude E5430 expecting to get some Dell Business notebook Quality. I am using Windows 8 x64 (in UEFI-mode) with BIOS A09 and the latest Drivers available from dell.com.

The issue that I am encountering is that as soon as the fan turns on, it does not turn off for a long time (blowing out cool air), even though there is no high system load (just Internet Explorer opened) and the temperature is below 50C.

Basically, the fan starts at some temperature threshold, cools down the CPU to 38-40C, and even though the running fan does not cause the CPU to cool down more, it keeps running for a long time (10 minutes and counting) (while the CPU temperature constantly stays at 38-40C). :-(

Please forward this issue to the BIOS development department so that they can provide an update which improves fan control.

Everyone also having this issue, please have a look at this post from Dell-Terry B:

Latitude E6520 Win7-64 lagging/freezing/slow performance issue

$

0

I have a number of Latitude E6520 computers that are all exhibiting the same performance problems.

While using the computer normally, users complain of very slow performance and applications reporting that they are not responding. On visiting a computer which has the problem, the following very specific symptoms are found:

  • The computer works normally for a short time, then suddenly stops responding to user input.
  • During this lagging behavior, the computer does not respond to user input, but some screen updates do continue. More specifically...
    • Mouse cursor can be moved around the screen
    • Hourglass cursor may or may not appear
    • Clicking the mouse on an on-screen button has no effect, not even visually (The animation of the button being depressed does not occur.)
    • Typing or pressing keys pressed on the keyboard have no effect
    • Hitting Ctrl-Alt-Del does bring up the lock menu, however it does so much more slowly than normal
    • If the freeze lasts long enough, an "Application is not responding" message may appear for the active application
  • After a few seconds, the computer resumes working normally again. At that time, typed characters may suddenly appear in a document, or mouse clicks made during the lag might suddenly take effect.
  • Once the problem begins happening, it grows worse. The delays tend to grow longer, and the time between them grows shorter, until it becomes impossible to get any productive work done.
  • Rebooting the computer always resolves the problem, but only temporarily. The problem always recurs, usually the next day, sometimes the same day.
  • Completely reformatting and reinstalling the OS resolves the problem temporarily, but again, it always comes back
  • Most users report that the problem is much worse after lunch, or if the computer has been idle long enough to go to sleep. Some users have reported the same behavior happening immediately after a cold reboot, but this has not been reproducible.
  • During the time this lag occurs, CPU utilization remains normal. Task manager shows no services or processes consuming any significant amount of CPU time. System idle process remains above 95%, usually around 98-99%
  • The problem does not seem to be tied to any specific application or service. Users often report that the problem is with the program they happen to be using when the issue arises, but even closing all open applications does nothing to alleviate the problem
  • This problem only affects the E6520 laptops. No desktops ever experience this problem, and older E64xx series laptops running the same software do not have the issue.

Extensive troubleshooting and diagnostics have ruled out the following:

  • Insufficient RAM
  • Insufficient virtual memory
  • Insufficient storage
  • Defective RAM
  • Defective hard drive
  • Defective CPU
  • Overheating
  • Background processes
  • Runaway applications
  • Network connectivity/latency

All machines are running Windows 7 SP1 X64 with Office 2010 Pro (32 bit version.) All have the latest firmware installed. Installing the latest Dell device drivers has not had any effect on the problem. Since the problem seems to be tied to the machines going to sleep in some cases, I have tried disabling power management features, but with no effect.

In addition to everything I've reported here, I have also tried a number of other specific steps, but this post is already probably too long for most people to bother reading.
