Inspiron N5110 freezes with distorted display
I recently purchased an Inspiron N5110 with an intel core i-3. The problem is that occasionally the computer will freeze up with a distorted display and the only thing I can do is power it off by holding the power button. I have run the diagnostic test and it comes back good. Dell support thinks I have a virus but I am pretty sure this is a hardware issue. The computer has frozen in a variety of applications. Any help with this issue would be great.

Dell Studio XPS 1645 display problem after updating graphics driver
I have a xps1645 with radeon 4670 graphics. recently I updated display driver from 12.3 to 12.4. At first it worked without any glitch, but a day latter while I was playing DIrt Showdown the game freezes twice and when I bring out desktop using Alt+Tab there was a error massage stating display driver stopped responding and recovered. I restarted windows and browsing internet to see if the crash related to driver then I noticed display showing some small square block after a while display freezes and pc crushed with blue screen error. After that each time I tried starting windows it crashes with blue screen error when it suppose to show the login display and not even bios menu is showing properly. Now I can only start windows after uninstalling display driver from safe mode. But after windows 7 installs display driver automatically upon restart windows crashes again with blue screen error. After I tried to check hardware using Dell PC Checkup condition worsen.

XPS 1640 work with only battery or only AC adaptor. Not together.
Hi I have a Dell studio XPS 1640. Last week my laptop stoped working and I couldn't turn it on. When I connected the power supply the power supply got cut off automatically tuning off the blue light.
So I called dell and they said it could be the motherboard or the DC in port or could be both. So I have replaced the DC in port. Now I can turn on the laptop either with the battery only or AC only. When I connect AC adopter with the battery, AC adopter still get cut-off? Do you know why this could be the case. I am using my xps now without the battery and it works fine.

Inspiron 11 3000 Series (3137) 8gb RAM?
I'm looking to upgrade the ram on the newly released inspiron 11 3137. The laptop has one dimm slot that is also user accessible. It is currently only shipping with 2gb of ram. I realize the manual states it can support up to 4gb of ram, but has anyone tried adding a single 8gb stick?
It comes with win8 64 bit, and packs a recently released 4th gen haswell celeron. I'm thinking it may support an 8gb stick, but don't want to order without confirmation that someone has gotten it to work.

Can't start laptop -- stuck at "Installing Update 1 of 8..."
When I started my laptop this morning, I got the screen "Keep your PC on until this is done. Installing update 1 of 8...". It's been stuck for hours. I've turned it off several times, but it always comes back to this screen immediately. It's a practically new Inspiron 15..., Windows 8 machine with no previous problems.

Dell XPS 15 (L521x) CPU Too Hot When Gaming - Decreased Performance - How Can I Cool It?
I have a Dell XPS 15 (L521x) laptop. While gaming my CPU heats up to temperatures ranging from 73 to 86 degrees Celsius (NOTE: This is with a CM Storm SF-19 cooling pad and today-applied Coollaboratory Liquid Ultra Thermal Compound).
My question is how else can I reduce this heat because I know as it gets hotter it (at times) throttles back to avoid crashing, thus decreasing performance, and I know the excessive heat ages components in the laptop.
Please read EVERYTHING before responding!

Model - Dell XPS 15 (L521x)
OS- Windows 7 64-bit Professional
CPU - Intel Core i7-3632QM
BIOS - A16 (Up to date)
SSD - 128GB (ReadyBoost, 57GB free)

Drivers for EVERYTHING (including my graphics card and BIOS) are up to date.

Using software program, RealTemp (and having my cooling pad on max blast), I have retrieved the following data:

Things I've tried...
-Removed the battery (laptop powered now by only charger)
-Removed existing thermal paste and replaced it with new Coollaboratory Liquid Ultra thermal compound (did whole procedure correctly), didn't do much (at least not yet)
-Blew compressed air through the entire interior and exterior of the laptop (fan and heat sink included)
There aren't any problems with the fan and I've tried using Speed Fan to manually regulate fan speed but it can't detect my fan (I don't think it would matter anyway because the fan always properly adjusts to the demand of power and processing).
I made my own power plan (using the "High Performance Plan" as a foundation) which makes my laptop at max performance (no power saving). I've also made another plan that makes max processor power 50%, somewhat cools it but performance during games in not acceptable.
I always defragment both drives (SSD only when above 15% because I heard defragging a SSD is not good for its longevity) and I always perform disk cleanups, scans, driver updates, BIOS updates, etc. Essentially I try to keep everything clean, organized, and updated.
I have a lot of games on Steam and Origin that I play and most of the more graphic demanding games (such as Battlefield 3, even on minimum graphics) really heat up the CPU and as a result the performance decreases (and no it's not online lag). Note:These games are not played from CD's.
I always leave my laptop plugged in (but not always on, mostly on sleep or shut down at night), any unnecessary background programs or services closed, and try to lower brightness and turn off LED key lights unless necessary.

Also, I know the cooling pad blows out air but it does not suck in any and redirect it and my intake vent is in the front and back of the laptop and the exhaust vent is opposite (in the back in between two intakes). The pad makes a difference but is there a way I can simply "suck out" the hot exhaust air and blow cool air into the intake? And I know the aluminum body does not help for reducing heat.
One more thing, please don'trecommend me any software programs to download because I just don't like having them or relying on them.

My dad bought me this laptop on 2011 and it seems like the warranty had expired on 2012. I was wondering if there is still a possibility of requesting for a recovery disc? My laptop is infected with viruses and I am soon transferring to a University and would really like to do a clean install of windows. Latitude E5500 Wireless Switch turned off?
Hello all,
I've used the internal wireless (1397 mini-card) for a couple of years now...All of a sudden the WIFI LED is not lit up above my keyboard....Win 7 reports no problem with the card and the driver appears to be ok...Others have told me to try the FN + F2 key to turn the wireless switch back on, but this combo doesn't change anything...In fact, on my laptop that combo controls whether the AC adapter charges the battery or not while plugged in.
I booted into my XP dual boot real quick...ON this OS the wireless is controlled by the dell application and the dell software says the wireless radio switch is disabled? Everything is enabled in the BIOS under the wireless section...It must be a different key combo to turn my wireless on/off?
I plugged in my wireless dongle from another machine and everything works great...
Any ideas?

Vostro 3560 Black Display Issue
Hi all,
I am a proud owner of Vostro 3560 ( i7 Q, 8GB, ATI 7670M HDD+SSD).
But something is really wrong with my notebook. The issue is as follow:
I have chosen from Power options to turn off the display after 5 minutes ( tried also with more. )
So after 5 minutes, the display is turned off. I am moving my mouse to turn it on, but it doesnt show anything. Just the backlight is diplayed ( the screen become more lighter ), The notebook remains responsible, but nothing is showed on the screen. I have tried couple of driver versions ( original, latest, middle version. ), also its happening on Win 7, 8, 8.1. I have played around almost every setting that could be changed. Nothing in event log.
The only way to fix this is to turn off the laptop / put it in sleep mode and then turn on from power button.
Can you advice on what could cause this ? Or where should i look for the problem ? It might be related to power options or VGA ? Anyone with same problem?

Controlpoint BIOS Pre-boot authentication (Wave / Embassy Security)
Hi.
About 10 months ago, i have changed my Latitude E4300 for brand-new Vostro 3560.
In my E4300 i use and trust very much in a Controlpoint BIOS Pre-boot authentication by Wave Systems, where i can secure my system with a fingerprint/password login at BIOS, before boot process can initialize.
I'm wondering if I can put my 3560 Vostro to work in that way, to ensure more security to my data. It is possible to add this feature to my Vostro? It is compatible with this system?

Reinstall Office 2010 Click-2-Run

Dell Inspiron N5050
Recently, my laptop, upon starting up beeped 5 times over and over. I read that this meant a problem with the CMOS battery. My date and time are still perfectly fine though. I then ran diagnostics and it came up with a hard drive error code 2000-0142 validation 50805.
So my computer is trying to tell me that I need a new CMOS battery and hard drive? Everything seems to be working fine. It hasn't crashed at all or anything like that. The only reason I'm looking into this is because the 5 beeps never stop.

Disk Failure - Dell Inspiron 15 7000 series
Just received this laptop (Dell Inspiron 15-7537) about four days ago and upon start up I get a message saying Potential Disk Failure. It then gave me options to back up now or remind me later. Not quite sure what to do about it, if I should send it back in for someone to look at it to make sure nothing is wrong.
*I just took a diagnostics test on my hard drive and it came back with errors. It says "critical hardware maintenance" and the next step says to replace hard drive. If someone could point me in the right direction that would be great. Thanks.

left button under the touchpad problem
Hello...i just bought a latitude e6400 off ebay seller refurbished... i used it for no more than 4 hours.. i was transferring music to my flash drive when the screen glitched like hiccuped then i noticed the left button under the touchpad is acting like a right click button .. i thought the driver went bad so i uninstalled and reinstalled it .. it was still the same ...so then i just said F it and did a clean install of windows thinking that will fix it and still it is the same..i disabled the touchpad in the bios and re enabled it and still acting the same...so im thinking its a hardware issue ?....does anyone have an idea what the problem might be?....im trying to contact the ebay seller to see if the seller can see about it since it is a seller refurbished laptop..but no responce as of yet...also i noticed the battery indicator light doesnt lite up when i do the disable charge fn+f2 when plugged in....yah ..any help or ideas would be appreciated.

HELP Dell xps l502x not starting properly!
Hello everyone,
My Dell laptop has been having some issues but it has today suddenly got much worse.
When turning it on it goes to the black start-up screen with two options of normal startup and a recommended repair set-up.
I have tried the repair setting and all that happens is that a blue windows generic background loads with a movable cursor and nothing else. I have tried pressing F12 at various stages of loading this screen from the Dell logo onwards. All this does is take me back to the original black screen with the same two options, so ends up going in a circle.
When trying to use normal start up mode it only gets to the windows loading screen with the logo and then the screen goes blank...
The charger has also become ineffective as of this morning, the laptop is not showing the charging light when plugged into the mains.
Before today there have been several instances of the blue screen but after scanning for viruses there didn't seem to be any problems and it went away, only coming back this morning with all the above issues.
hope that makes some sense to someone here!
I am very worried as have important exams soon so would appreciate any help!
