Is there mSATA on my laptop 15R 5520?

0

When I see in BIOS it shows "mSATA: not detected", I think my laptop has mSATA port. I have to confirm for that because I read somewhere they say laptop without pre-install mSATA SSD has not mSATA on daughterboard. My service tag is 3htthv1

Inspiron 17R Windows 7 Fan Issue

Hi

I bought a new 17R laptop and removed Windows 8 as I hated it. I have installed Win 7 Pro x64. I have installed all drivers from Dell website and updated BIOS.

My issue is that the fan comes on too often at full speed when just browsing web. I heard the new bios fixes that but in Windows 8 the fan was never this loud.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Question about vPro and whether a system has it or not and can it be added or disabled?

Hi, I am going to purchase a computer from the Dell Outlet and was wondering if I could enable or disable vPro? Is it built into the motherboard or is it just a property of certain CPUs? I see in the Dell Outlet list whether the system has vPro or not however the system that I am trying to match it with does not specifically specify if it has vPro or not or whether it is just disabled.

That is the detailed view of the system. Does this system have vPro or not or does it have it and is just disabled?

Thank you.

Battery has been to me!

Now, I have always bought Dell because my dad had a Dell laptop in wich I used to play my old school games every single time he arrived home from work.

My first laptop to own was a Dell Inspiron 1545 wich I had to do lots of stuff in order to keep it  running, for example, I had to replace the HDD for it to start off without the Blue Screen of Death. After solving that problem it started having problems with the battery running out in a  very short time, it went from 100% to 0% in just like 2 hours if I had luck! Sadfully the screen started having big black spots of what may be dead pixels. I realized that I was too expensive to repair it. It was cheaper to buy a new laptop. And so, I did!

Just like 3 months ago, I changed that laptop whith a Dell Inspiron 15R, in wich I am writting this letter. Every thing felt perfect until a month ago when the battery, again in a Dell, started dying and now it won't charge properly. When I connect it to charge it simply doesn't. Also the WI-Fi dosn't work, I need to have it connected by LAN to the router.

I wanted to keep the family tradition of using Dell laptops, but every time it is getting harder to be happy or even satisfied when buying a Dell. As much as I would like to buy an MSI laptop or an Alienware M17X, I can't buy one at the moment because I am running low on money.

Startup is slow, yet Startup Repair does not detect problems

Hi there, I have a Dell Studio 1745 with Windows 7 and I have an issue with startup. Upon starting up, if I entered my password at the user login screen, it would go to a completely black screen, yet the mouse's cursor would appear and be functional. alt-ctrl-del would not work though. If I waited for about half an hour, my desktop would eventually show up and everything would run smoothly. I first did a System Restore to my earliest possible point (month and a half ago), because I couldn't find the Windows 7 disc to run Startup Repair. After the System Restore,  the same thing would happen, but instead of half an hour, it took about half a minute. Very good difference, but I feel it can likely be fixed further. So I thought for sure it was a driver issue and not a virus or anything, though I manually searched and deleted all adware/malware I suspected was slowing down my laptop. I also ran Startup Repair and it said no problems were detected.

Anyway, later that day, Windows asked me to install some updates, and I did, and then it went back to the near half-hour wait for login. Then when I restarted the laptop, it automatically ran CHKDSK for some reason, though no problems were encountered. This time, I did startup repair first, because perhaps it could eradicate the issue now that the updates were in place, however, it claimed to have detected no issues, though it went back to its ridiculously long startup time as it did previously. I did System Restore once again, back to the middle of March point, and now it's back to the half-minute startup.

Sorry for the tediously long explanation, I just thought it would be best to be as descriptive as possible. So my question is A) Is this certainly a driver issue at this point? B) Is something wrong with the hard-drive? C) If yes to either, what can I do to make it so that the login time is back to the near-instant status it was upon purchasing, AND how do I get the Windows Updates and PC to mesh together properly? I don't find it pragmatic to just avoid installing any WIndows updates from hereon out.

Thank you to all who read through this blather and will try to help. :)

Dell XPS M1330 Trackpad

Hello, so the trackpad on my dell xps m1330 is going bad. All of the buttons (and I assume) cables work just fine just the left click feels like it is deflated. When pressing it, it works just fine, it just has no clicking satisfaction and is always down it seems, like the spring is gone.

I'm looking to replace it because it seems fairly manageable. Also, I am out of warranty on my dell.

I found this part: http://www.pchub.com/uph/laptop/70-47419-7023/Dell-XPS-M1330-Touchpad-Track-Point-Track-Ball.html

This has the two mouse buttons in it. I was wondering if you guys knew if this would be what I need to fix my laptop. I'm not sure if there is a different part or if this part comes with the spring to push the button upwards or not.

Inspiron N5010 won't power on from power cord, but will power up from battery

My daughter's Dell Inspiron N5010 is about 2 years old.  It stopped charging the battery when plugged in with the power cord, and it will not operate at all from the power cord alone.  I have replaced both the power jack board and the keyboard with no change.  There appears to be a solid connection between the power jack and the motherboard.  Thoughts on why this is happening and how to correct?  Thanks.

Dell N5030 generic battery will not charge.

I have Dell N5030 that needed it's battery replaced. So I bought one off of Amazon. It fits correctly but I get this alert after I plug it in.

"The model number for the primary battery cannot be determined. This will prevent any battery present from charging. Please insert a Dell battery for best system operation."

Please help! I need my laptop for school. :(

Inspiron 6400 T5300: Memory stick USB freezes the laptop when inserted?

Hi,

I have found I need to update/re-install these drivers:

- Install the Dell notebook system software.

- Install the chipset driver.

- Install at least XP SP1 (preferably SP3).

1). Is this correct?

2). If so, how do I do this, please? What versions should I use?

3). If I already have SP3 can I avoid re-loading it (Hopefully)??

Thx,

Pac

Multiple issues with Dell Inspiron 7720 3D / Dell stopped responding

Hi Dell

I had posted about a 3D issue in my laptop few months back, for which I got support through my private messages.

But then I started facing other problems (such as Hard Drive failure) to which Dell representative responded, agreeing for drive replacement (the laptop is still under warranty).

But before I could send the hard disk for replacement, another issue occured. The laptop started heating too much, and one day it simply refused to boot, giving 8-beeps code.

I asked the representative about the issue, as well as further notice about drive replacement and address, but she has stopped responding. It's been three days so i'm posting this again. Hope someone else from Dell India helps me out.

Hello,

On my Vostro 3560 the touchpad software does not keep the pointer speed setting after restart.

Other settings are kept.

Reinstalling the software did not help.

Is there a solution?

Dell XPS M1530 does not boot.

Hi,

My dell xps does not boot. The power button is lighing and power light is on. After pressing powet button I can hear some attempt to start the system but then nothing happens. Black screen, no sound of working hard drive etc. I just wonder if the fact that I use my laptop connected to power supply charger all the time could be a issue? I had to do it because my battery has been flat long time ago. I understand the need of battery to be able to power laptop using thebcharger so mybe this flat battery is a problem?
