I am trying to get a 1558 working. It was not used too much because of overheating and so on.
I reinstalled Windows 7 again and it works. I used the most recent drivers from Dell. It will freeze if I try to do much though.
Connecting to the the internet it will freeze and shut down after a few minutes. The CPU speed increases for no reason and then the fan speeds up and then freezes or crashes.
No error message.
Trying to figure out if it is a HW or SW issue. I'd appreciate any help.

I've just reinstalled windows at my dell e6330 and can't find 3g modem drivers.
I tried all drivers from here:
http://ftp.dell.com/Pages/Drivers/latitude-e6330.html
but none of them worked.
Please help.

shouldnt the fan turn on and cool it off before it gets that hot?
the case is too hot to hold on to.
Just got a brand new laptop, Dell Inspiron 11 3137, and updated to windows 8.1. The touchpad does not work properly now; gestures/scrolling/pointer not working. I've spent over 16 hours getting windows 8.1 installed and then troubleshooting this issue. I've contacted Dell; updated the driver from Dell, even tried installing the latest driver from Synaptic. I even tried setting the Synaptic app to run under the windows 8 version.
Touchpads have been around a long time. It's the last thing I expect not to work properly.
At this point I am ready to send the laptop back and call it quits on windows.
Can anybody help with this?

My hard drive was fried, so Dell UK sent a new one to fit, which I've done.
I've put in the 'Operating System' disc in and ran through all that.
Now the computer looks really basic and there's hardly any programs.
What do i do next?

My battery just burned up. I just called in and ask dell to sent a battery replacement for me for alienware m17x r5, but I got a project that's due on the same day as they say the deliver time is and I have all my data in the laptop. Can the laptop run without a battery, and just with the power adapter plug in?

I'm interested in getting an mSATA SSD in the WWAN slot in e7240. Apart from the LITEON SSD (which doesn't seem to be available in my location), what other SSDs can be used? If you are using an SSD in this slot, I would love to know the brand/model and any additional effort/issues you faced?

I can see a list of components on my product configuration on the Dell site, but no mention of MB or motherboard when I search.
It must be written on the motherboard itself somewhere ?

I'd like to switch my F keys to where I don't have to hold down the Fn key in order for it to use the F key. As it is right now, if I press the F9 key it adjusts the volume of my speakers unless I am holding down the blue Fn key. This is due to the F keys having dual functions. I can't remember how to change it.

Have a d630, was a good working laptop . My son dropped it which broke a lid hinge and now the screen is black, if you hold a flashlite at certain angles and turn it on, you can see the icons on the screen. I plugged an external monitor into it and it works. The lid still opens and closes, just have to keep the right side tight to help the broken hinge My friend seems to think it could be an inverter.I want to use it for work, it has windows 7 and worked great. I was shopping complete screens with bezels and hinges on e-bay, $40 or so, but who knows the condition. Is there a way to test the inverter, possible broken wire, are they hard to install? Any thoughts or diagnois would be appreciated, thanks Mike

My New OS is Windows 7 Pro 64 bit with Del XPS M1210 how can I find driver for my inbuilt Logitech Camera
When I looked at my E6510 laptop this morning, I found three keycaps (Tab, Shift, and backslash) sitting on the floor. They seemed to be cleanly removed (i can't imagine how my cat managed to do this). i didn't see any obvious damage on the keyboard or the removed keycaps. When I look at the keycaps that were removed, when I hold them key side up, there are two pieces of white plastic that are half-attached to each other and hang a bit below the keycap. On the keyboard key, there's a white/clear soft button a few millimeters wide which I can push to get the keyboard key (which is how I'm able to write this).
I found a video on the internet that shows attaching replacement Dell laptop keyboard keys, but they were attaching the two pieces of white plastic first, and then snapping the keycap on top of those.
Is it possible to remove the two pieces of white plastic from the keycap without damaging it, and then following the procedure I saw in the video?
Are there detailed instructions somewhere that show how I can do this?
Ironically, my warranty expired two weeks ago (my cat must have known that).
I have had my XPS L502 for not quite 2 years. It has the backlit keyboard which did not work until a service tech was here for a fan issue. He replaced the fan and the motherboard and the keyboard then worked until a different tech came in and replaced the back pieces. Now it does not work again. Is there a simple way that I can get this back on? It was a nice feature while I had it (5 days out of 2 years).
