Inspiron 17R causing router to reboot
I have a Inspiron 17R with Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1030 card running windows 7. When the laptop communicates with the router, the router reboots so Internet connectivity is lost for all devices using the router. This happens when the laptop resumes after hibernating, when you release and renew an IP address, turn on wireless radio etc .
Router is provided by Vodafone and is a Zyxel AMG1202 Series.
Investigations so far have checked DSL carrier lines, ISP, Splitters, router (another Zyxel P600 Series was tried), but problem exists with all.
Other threads have pointed to a wireless adapter "power save polling" router compatibility issue and pointed to an Intel thread which talked about router software/firmware upgrade or changing WIFI adapter into continuously aware mode. I'm waiting to contact the ISP for the router software but don't hold out much hope as it's a locked down sw build. I'm struggling trying the other option to change WIFI adapter into continuously aware mode. The instructions given were to

I've tried the following but still have the same reboot issues.
- Click Start > Settings > Control Panel.
- Double-click Network Connections.
- Right-click the wireless connection and click Properties.
- Click Configure.
- Click the Advanced tab.
- Windows 7 or 8: Select Transmit Power,
change Value to 5. Highest.
I've also tried turning wireless radio off and using wired only connection but the same issues appear to happen. Has anyone got any further advice for this issue, please.

nVidia Geforce GT 650M NOT DETECTED on Inspiron 17R SE 7720 after BIOS A11 Update
Hi everyone,
A week ago I did some updating on my Inspiron 17R SE 7720 including Bios update to the A11 version. Unfortunately after this update I realized that the nVidia Geforce GT 650M graphics card was gone from my system.
I read other posts and people that have come across this issue suggested that re-installing the bios would fix the problem, however in my case it did not.
Also I have installed the newly released BIOS A12 and A13 versions but non of these have fixed this issue.
Also re-installing windows does not either fix this as suggested by others in other posts.
I have also run the computer diagnostics from the bios and the card does not show up there either, is like if the nVidia Geforce GT 650M graphics card was not installed on the system.
Lastly I have run a version of Ubuntu on my Inspiron 17R SE 7720 and run a system check and neither the card is detected, just the Intel HD Graphics 4000 is detected on windows or linux.
Please someone from dell help us fix this issue, as it is definitely a BIOS PROBLEM.
If you are one of the unlucky ones like me that saw disappeared the nVidia Geforce GT 650M graphics card from your system, please share your experience with me.

After 7 exact months of supplition since I started this discussion Dell has finally done it.
Bios A16 addresses and fixed this isue.

F4 key is not working at all

Same problem with all 3 of my XP machines 2 Dimension C-521 and a Inspiron E1505
Trying to run the Dell System Detect App. It Downloads but will not Install. I get the "... Dell System Detect.exe is not a Valid WIN32 Application". Running XP with SP3 on all machines. Never had this trouble before. Have ran it in the Past for Updates with NP. Hope somebody addresses this issue.
I have MY Dell installed on 2 of those machines. No help there... Still won't get past the Detect Issue.

RAM upgrade for Inspiron 14R 5437
I was trying to upgrade the RAM on my 5437. But the chipsets I've tried didn't work. My current memory is hynex DDR3 1600mhz 4gb. I couldn't find the same brand so I tried others fro a local shop. I tried 3 different brands of the same speed and capacity but they all didn't work. I also removed my current memory and put the other modules in the slot where the hynex is installed, but still no luck.
What memory modules are compatible with my computer?

Dell 14z would not boot past logo screen. Help plz!
I bought a new inspiron 14z just 3 months ago and now it woudnt even boot past the logo screen. I tried pressing F2 or F12 and nothing happens. It just stays that way then restarts to the same logo screen again.
2 days before this happened I had trouble putting it to sleep/hibernate/shutdown. the screen would go blank but the power light would still be on. I tried updating all my divers and bios and still the same problem. Then i did a system restore to a few weeks earlier and the next time i tried to shut it down it never booted up again.
Can anyone tell me what else I can do? I am not in a position to use my warranty (not at home and there is no Dell center nearby)

Dell XPS 12 Touch screen stop working when flipping screen
Hi,
So I bought the XPS 12 a month ago, and it is fantastic! However, I have been experiencing a problem:
When I flip the screen to go into tablet mode, after a short while, the touch stops working. The screen still shows what it's supposed to, but it won't register my fingers (or anyone elses...)
I have seen another post about a similar problem at the forum (http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3518/p/19477009/20235618.aspx), but the solutions given (update BIOS, update chipset and video drivers, calibrating the touch screen) didn't solve my problem.
Are there any other solutions available, or is this a problem only I am experiencing?

Startup now takes forever/.Net35 client profile runtime error?
Hello. Just this week, all of sudden it takes my laptop over 10 minutes to start up. Then whenever I try to run a program, it just says not responding.
two new things that have pooped up that I have never seen before are ".Net3.5 client profile runtime has stopped working" and a small popup window for "DSD_4040" which then says "not responding" and I can never shut that pop up window.
help! I can't do a thing on my computer and I have a lot of work to do.

New XPS 13 (9333) Constant Noise
I have just recently received a new XPS 13 with the new haswell i7 processor, 8gb RAM, 256gb ssd, and windows 8.1.
I really like this laptop, but it makes a really bizarre noise. It happens constantly as soon as its powered on, like a high pitched whirring sound from somewhere beneath the keyboard. It also seems pretty inconsistent, like it flickers in frequency, and when you use programs (e.g scroll through webpages) it gets louder.
Can anyone help me with what the issue is here? Any help appreciated.

Recovery Disks for inspiron Laptops
Has anybody seen a definitive document stating how I can go about either backups disks from DELL or how I can create from my machine.
I deally, I would like to have backup disks from DELL but I understand DELL is not providing these for cost reasons so my second option is to create my own but I can't see anything on my Windows 8.1 laptop about this. My Toshiba machine had a link on my Desktop to create three DVDs but Dell machine hasn't.
I am based in the UK so if you give me any info here please make sure it is relevant to the UK market.
The machine is Inspiron 15R with 4 years extended warranty expiring in 2018 though, I expect to buy two more machines by then

Touchpad gestures/scrolling/pointer not working after windows 8.1 update on Dell Inspiron 11 3137
Just got a brand new laptop, Dell Inspiron 11 3137, and updated to windows 8.1. The touchpad does not work properly now; gestures/scrolling/pointer not working. I've spent over 16 hours getting windows 8.1 installed and then troubleshooting this issue. I've contacted Dell; updated the driver from Dell, even tried installing the latest driver from Synaptic. I even tried setting the Synaptic app to run under the windows 8 version.
Touchpads have been around a long time. It's the last thing I expect not to work properly.
At this point I am ready to send the laptop back and call it quits on windows.
Can anybody help with this?

Dell Inspiron 15 7000(7537) WiFi issue
Hi,
I purchased the dell inspiron 7000 laptop last week. It has some issues with wifi connectivity.. Though it gets connected, we can see the signal bar fluctuating randomly and the speed of the interent connection is very slow. I am using the same connection for my phone and also checked it with other laptops and the wifi connection seems to have no problem. The download speed on the laptop shows 0.50mbps, while the download speed on another laptop connected to the same connection at the same time and spot shows 6.8mbps.
I have reported the issue the very next day of my purchase, so far I have not obtained any help from the dell customer support. Finally two days back I got a mail stating that there will be a service engineer visiting me in 2-3 working days. But ironically today I get a call form the customer support and they said the person wont be coming for the next week or so as they do not have the parts available.
Why would you want to change the part of a brand new laptop which is not even two weeks old????Is this a known issue for this model??

Change PC Settings doesn't work in Windows 8.1
Would like to reset my Dell Inspiron 15 to factory settings (back to Windows 8)
I upgraded to Windows 8.1 and the button "Change PC Settings" does nothing.
I've done a number of things I found on the internet, like changing registers to no avail (gets worse)
Also called Dell customer support and gets complicated (they want to know details of ownership and I got this as a gift)
Is there a command prompt to reformat the machine?

Latitude E6430 slows to a crawl while on dock.
I have an iteresting problem that I have not yet found an answer for. I have an E6430 that runs totally fine until I put it on a dock. When I put it on the dock it slows to a crawl. There is no physical damage to the dock or the laptop and I have tried a different dock with the same result. As soon as I undock the laptop it starts working normally again. I viewed the system performance logs and cannot see anything jump at all when going from a dock to undocked and vice versa. I am working in a corporate environment so everything is built off of the same image so I am not sure what the problem is. (No it is not an issue with the image) I had an issue with another computer of the same model about a month ago. I reimaged that computer and had no issue afterwards, however this does not tell me what the problem is.

Dell Inspiron 15R 5537: Keyboard issues
I usually type with both hands. I've had this laptop (Win 8.1) for quite a few weeks.
I frequently find some of the keys (mostly on the left side) of the keyboard are not registering, in particular these letters: E, C, D, R, A, S, B and O are problem keys. E and O are the worst ones.
The problem gets worse when I type a bit faster than usual.
I'm having to either type much slower than usual or proofread extra closely (which I never had to do when using my old laptop before it died) because of missing letters.
It's maddening. I've had this problem right at the start with this laptop, and it hasn't improved since.
Here's an example of the issue when typing at normal speed with both hands, without any corrections.

I've checked the keyboard and there aren't any defects that I can see. No crumbs or dust or whatever. I've checked the keyboard settings in the control panel, and the only settings available are: repeat rate and cursor blink speed. Dell doesn't include proprietary settings for the keyboard.
How can I fix this issue? Is the keyboard simply not sensitive enough to detect some of my keypresses?
