Does anyone know which number on a Dell Latitude is the serial number? There is no label that indicates "S/N" or anything of that nature.

Blue Screen Dell Studio 1558
All, I have a problem here.
I could not see anything on screen when turned on. I hooked up to external monitor, and see the blue screen. I did started up in safemode, and did the system restore to previous date. After that, laptop LCD screen worked just fine. But if I used it for awhile, especially after watching video/youtube for awhile, problem started. If I let the laptop off for a day or 2, it can work, but problem start again. I reload the ATI Radeon HD 5470, and things did not change.
It could work for awhile (5-10 hours), and then got blue screen. If rested for a day or 2, it is back to normal.

Studio 1558 PCB to a MOBO
What order does the Studio 1558 Power Control Button wires go in from the switch to MOBO. The clip that attachs the 3 wires to motherboard slide off the wires and I need to have this finished by today. Takes about two weeks via mail.

Dell Vostro V13 Motherboard replacement issues
First issue, this laptop got a spill on the keyboard and shut down, no power. Took it to bestbuy they said the motherbaord will need to be replaced so I am looking into doing this myself. Few questions please:
1] If the Mobo is dead, does this mean the keyboard should still be ok?
2] I looked into purchasing a replacement mobo but I am confused about the specs, on the laptop next to the scrollpad there is a sticker which shows "Intel Core 2 Duo inside". When I look at the specs online for this V13 model, I am seeing "Intel Celeron 743 CPU with a speed of 1.2 GHz", does this mean it's processor is a celeron and NOT a Pentium? Also, does this mean it's a core 2 duo 1.2Ghz speed?
3] I am not seeing the regular 2 RAM slots with memory chips on this unit, where is the memory located please?

Latitude E7440
Though in all adverts it boasts about strong encryption options, I could not find any way of encrypting the disk other than Windows Bitlocker.
In the Dell Data Protection Console, but there are no options in the Encryption Tab. I even downloaded directly from Dell product site DDP Encryption software (650 Mb !) but in the installation, personal installation option is disabled asking for only Enterprise installation which requires some kind of a server.
Does anyone know how ?

For Information. Vostro 3750 Video Driver.
I have a Vostro 3750 (core i5) running W7 x64 (clean installed) which I have been extremely pleased with, how ever one niggle has been the graphics crashing when using the "pan and zoom" slideshow in Windows Live Photo Gallery. After 4 or five frames it would crash out into multi-coloured pixellation.
I have long suspected a driver issue and so yesterday I looked on the Intel site and found driver version 9-17-10-3347 which was listed as the latest core i5 HD3000 driver. The driver on the Dell site is still the original 8-15-10-2345 version.
As I use Acronis disc imaging there was nothing lost in trying this... and the result has been that the previous issue of crashing seems to have been fixed. I haven't noticed any other differences apart the fact that the WEI rating for graphics has fallen by 0.2. The gaming graphics (apart from chess I don't use it for gaming) remained the same at 6.3.
So far... fingers crossed... and all seems well with the original problem fixed.

Inspiron Mouse Button LOUD click
I have a Dell Inspiron 3521 15.6 inch laptop, bought 2-3 months ago. The mouse button is EXTREMELY LOUD when i click, and its unbearable, so annoying and loud! It makes his practically unable to use in a quiet settings! I'm really fed up with Dell, since there quality seems to be getting cheaper and cheaper! I've had many Dell Computers before with never any issues that were a red flag. Dell, what do you think?

Inspiron 14z 5423 adapter light goes out when plugged into computer
I'm trying to resurrect a 14z (5423) Inspiron laptop. Here's the problem: I have an almost new 90w power adapter with a light on the plug that attaches to the laptop. When I plug the adapter into the wall, the tip lights up. Then, when I plug the adapter into the laptop, the light goes out. and the laptop will not power up.
My first research into this led me to believe that the motherboard was to blame. I just bought a replacement motherboard, and reassembled the laptop according to the manual instructions.
The adapter light still goes out when plugged into the new motherboard.
So my question is this, do I need to replace the adapter now? I don't know where else the problem may be.
This Inspiron has been through a lot (even surviving almost a year after an auto accident) but since all the wiring is on the main board, replacing that should clear any circuit issues -- right?

restore to factory settings
Hi
I have an inspiron 1720 st <Admin Note: removed per privacy policy~RK> renninng Vista and I would like to set it back to factory settings. Now I have done everything the manuel tells me to do.
Shut Down
Restart
Press f8 before logo appears etc.
The problem is when the "Advance Boot Options" window opens, there is No Repair Option.
The only options that appear on the page are....
SAFE MODE
SAFE MODE WITH NETWORKING
SAFE MODE WITH COMMAN PROMPT
enable boot logging
enable low-resolution video
last known good configuration (advanced)
directory services restore mode
debugging mode
disable automatic restart
disable driver signature enforcement
START WINDOWS NORMALLY
Therefore I am at an impass and cannot do the restore to factory settings. I know that I have done this before several times over the years that I have owned this computer, and the "REPAIR" option was there.
What are my options now....?How can I get the factory settings restored>

precision m4400 blank screen
The back right corner of my dell precision m4400 laptop recently experienced an insulated blow when it was in my backpack. No external damage is visible but the display monitor stopped working.
The computer still boots up and works fine on an external display including the wireless internet.
I removed the bezel around the monitor and a blue light appears near the light sensor in the monitor area (bottom center left) when I boot up the computer but the display is completely blank.
I removed the bottom plate of the laptop and all connections seem secure.
Does this sound like a failed monitor and replacing the monitor would fix the problem? Are there any recommendations as to how one might test if this is the issue?

Inspiron 7720 R17 SE 650m, What size are the thermal Pads?
I want to replace the thermal pads with new ones but I don't know the size (thickness).
I checked the owners manual, it said nothing about the thickness, so does anyone own this laptop or know enough about it to tell me their thickness?
The Thermal Pads are for the GPU area for the memory modules from what I assume.

lappy boots up slow and hard drive is slow
i am having dell Inspiron 5520- around 8-9 months back i got my mother board and hard drive got replaced by dell my hard drive is ATA TOSHIBA MK5076GS SCSI from then my system booted slow(5 minutes and black screen for a minute) and transfer rate is around 5-10 mb/s from 1 partition to another
i called customer care thay said they would reply but they didnt and my warranty expired then
today while reading on the net i came to know that it may have happen my hard drive was connected to wrong port on mother board and if i change the port the hard drive will function properly i wana ask if it;s true or not and whether the TOSHIBA drive replaced is compatible with my system or not because earlier i was having some other drive name in my DISK manager

Dell 3520 external moniter
My daughter laptop stopped working I Bthink I fixed it. But in the process I accidentally cut. The wire to the screen. I tried to hook it up to the TVs with HDmi and VGA but neither of them will work. I hear it powered on.
Can't believe not one port on there would not be working . Any ideas? Keyboard idk if the keyboard is working. Plug thins in but can't tell.

Inspiron N4010 WiFi drivers not installing and Audio ouput device not installed
I have dell Inspiron N4010 and Windows & home Basic . My Wifi drivers are not installing every time I try to install it message stating software package cannot be installed set up should exit.
Also NO AUDIO OUTPUT DEVICE INSTALLED is shown at the speakers icon on taskbar. but sometimes it works and i can hear sound from headphones and then out of no where it will be gone showing same thing.
I have reinstalled my windows and installed the drivers in the order mentioned at site. My laptop is out of warranty.
please help me.
