I have a guy who wants to sell me a new condition Dell M4600, but the warranty has expired.
Is there a way to purchase a new warranty for a computer whose warranty has already expired?
Do you recommend doing so? If Dell cannot provide a new warranty, would another provider, such as Square Trade be able to do so?

I found one of my laptop usb port is not working. The left usb port is not working and the right one is working. Don't know which port represent which version (2.0/3.0). I found universal serial bus driver is not installed. I can not find the driver so request you to provide me the link. If the driver is R309557, I already downloaded it. My bios version is A05.

Hi,
I'm looking on instal windows 8 on my laptop Insprion 7520. To use the advantage of Intel smart storage, i need to instal windows with the mode "intel smart response technology' instead of AHCI. But, when I start the instalation program of windows, there is no disk available.
The disk is here when i try to instal in ACHI. but in this mode, i can not use my 32gb ssd to accelerate the system.
I think i nee to add some drivers in the USB boot key but i don't know where i can find its ?
Thanks

Follow the directions from an earlier post to put the motherboard in the oven. Another post has a link on how to disassemble your laptop. I had nothing to lose and did this. It works perfectly now. From a paperweight to a computer again.
Hey Guys, i have been using the community forms for years because it is great help. Kudos to everyone and all their hard work, i cant thank you enough, but now i guess its my turn to ask for help...
I have a Latitude E6400 running Win7 32-bit and recently it started acting goofy. a couple weeks ago the touchpad/cursor would move all around the screen but would only click on desktop items. when i would launch an app and attempt to click on something inside the app, it would lose focus and i would be clicking on the desktop again, also can not click on start menu or taskbar.
my initial thought was malware, so i reloaded windows. after a full system reload i am getting the same results. i have isolated this to the dell touchpad software/drivers but it yields the same results if i use an external mouse as well so its not a hardware problem.
other forms have instructed to delete the drivers from computer management and restart, i have tried this and i get the same results if the touchpad software is installed.
has anyone else fought and won this battle yet? any guidance/advice
Thanks everyone
Mike
I have a Dell Inspiron M5010. I have not had the computer that long, maybe 2 years. I used the computer last night and everything worked fine. I tried to turn it on tonight and all I got was 7 beeps. I need some help this is my school computer and all my files are on it.
I have an Inspiron N5050 that is 8 mos old and is rarely used. When turned on, it shows windows loading files bar, then a start up repair screen but does not go beyond that. When I exit that screen, it shuts down. I restarted it and ran the F12 diagnostic test and it showed a fail with error code 2000-0142. This should still be under warranty because I bought the computer on 8/4/12. Is there anything I can do on my side or will this need to be returned to Dell for evaluation?
Hello!
I'm trying to do a factory system restore on my laptop and I am struggling to do it. I have been able to do it in the past...but I don't remember how.
What I am struggling with is I can't find the "Dell factory Image Restore" option. I do F8 > Repair my computer > Choose your keyboard layout > .....
But that is it. I never log in as an "administrator". I never get the chance to even log in. I'm guessing this is why the option "Dell factory Image Restore" never appears. Please help me out by asking for whatever additional details you need to know to help.
My Dell laptop has been having issues with frequent loss of internet connection. I have Verizon Mobility Broadband Card Utility. I have contacted Verizon and spent time on the phone to make sure everything on that end is okay. Any suggestions?
I am not able to wake up my new laptop from sleep via USB mouse or keyboard. I would like to be able to do that because I usually keep my laptop lid closed, so the power button is not immediately accessible. I've searched the forums here and found similar issues with other models, and at least with the Inspiron 17R the problem was recently resolved with a BIOS update. I had no issues when using the same USB mouse and keyboard on an old XPS 8000.
Now for the details:
If I go into an Administrator command prompt, I get the following:
I have a Dell Inspiron 1440 that won't boot now. Using WinVista Ultimate and needed to reboot but it hangs after the Dell logo/Inspiron screen with the white status bar is completed at the bottom of the LED screen. I removed the 500GB HD and inserted a new 1TB Win7 Professional that I've been working on for the last couple of weeks and it won't boot either. Same situation on both HD (2 Win OSes on same laptop with same issue). FYI, I have 8GB RAM in the laptop (been that way for couple of years) but I don't suspect the RAM as the issue. I do have 2-2GB RAM DIMMs that came with the laptop initially in case that's a test I need to make.
Functionally, it appears like the boot sector on the HD isn't "available" but I've tried two (2) different HDs and I get the same issue. Hence, I think it's not a HD issue.
What IS the issue and what are my options? Laptop appears to be fine otherwise. New motherboard? $$??
Pressing F2 or F12 doesn't get me anywhere at startup time either.
