Studio 1735 batteries won't charge

0

My battery on my Studio 1735 won't charge.  At boot-up, it says the battery cannot be recognized.  To bypass and use the power adapter,  I hit F1.

I went ahead and bought a new Dell battery.  It worked the very first time, but then it drained and never would charge up again.   The battery icon in my lower tray says 'battery plugged in, but not charging.'

I also tried to uninstall this battery via device manager, and then reinstalled.   That did not work either.

I also loaded a new Windows 7, and that did not work, not sure that it would, but I did it and nothing changed.

Do I need a new mother board?  Is there a charging circuit somewhere I can replace?  (If so, how?)  I hate to junk it, but I really need to be able to power up on battery.  I also had to buy a new power adapted when I got the boot up error message saying that was not recognized, but a new one did fix that.  I"m tired of spending money on this, but if there's an easy way to fix it, I'd like to.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Receiving error code 2000-0146

My laptop (Inspiron 17 (N7010)) wasn't turning on so I did a diagnostics check and received an error code 2000-146. From what I've read online, my hard drive has failed and needs replacing, but I'm not sure how to replace it and what additional software I need to do so. Any help would greatly be appreciated! Thanks!

Looking for a urgent support

Hi,
I am Arif from Karachi, Pakistan a university teacher as well as PhD student. I teach subjects of marketing to MBA and BBA students, including case studies related to Dell computers, like: how Michael Dell started this wonderful company from his dorm room.
On 4th February I sold my second generation i5 laptop HP Pavilion G6 and purchased Dell Inspiron 3537. Reason being I don’t want any trouble with my three years old laptop as I am actively working on my thesis.

But, unfortunately serious problem started with my new Dell laptop as I was unable to read a word from it, it badly hurt my eyes causing me severe headache. I don’t have this problem with HP one.

It has both local as well as an international warranty. As a result of the problem I took my laptop to Pakistan Office Product (POP) which is authorized distributer of Dell in Pakistan and discussed my problem with them. They told me the LED of this laptop is ultra-bright and for reading purpose LED should be matted one. After that I have put so much efforts to find antiglare  and antireflective filter for my laptop but unfortunately it’s not available anywhere in Pakistan.

I visited POP again and a person over there told me that only option I have is to replace the LED with matted one and it’s not covered in warranty I have to write to Dell USA and they can in turn get my LED changed from POP.

As Dell is one the biggest brands in the world I would like to request Dell to kindly change my LED with matted one. So that I can go through research papers as well as write my PhD thesis.
My email address is : <ADMIN NOTE: Email id removed per privacy policy>

Looking forward for a positive response.

DELL loptop

Frist of all I'm desperate and anxious. I have a Dell loptop I bought back  5 or 6 years ago. I'm a very careful with my stuffs and really keep them well.

I haven't had any issue with it until 3 days ago when I turned it on one morning and wouldn't let me in to desktop. The message says, "There were hardware or software that were installed or uninstalled", I don't know why but haven't been into anything, updates are on time and haven't been to any other programs softwares etc...I'm not a computer savvy after all.

Anyway, below the first line message goes, "Start network repair (recommended) or Start normally"

Funny thing is, either way, it will  just go back to the previous message and it could go on and on for zillion years. I tried all the commands from F1 to F12 and followed them through that really takes ages to complete, to no solution. I even tried inserting the diagnostics/utilities (I'm not sure if that's the recovery disc).

I surfed anywhere with similar problem but all I saw were issues on not starting etc. Mine was starting it just can't get me through DESKTOP as it leads me to the original message "START REPAIR or START NORMALLY" over and over again. As I've said done all the diagnostics from F1 to F12 but offered no solution. WHAT's the problem of my loptop?

Can anyone help me pls, even if it takes to email me <Admin Note: removed per privacy policy~RK>

It's really hard without it that I have to go to cafes to get connected. Don't be surprised I'm not into ihpne etc, I'm not savvy, kinda living backwards.

Pls help.

Much thanks

Kewi

When pressing caps lock windows flicker

Recently I was renaming a folder and I pressed Caps Lock. It was like pressing enter, it renamed the file. I tried again but still when i was pressing Caps Lock it was like pressing enter. Also when i press Caps Lock all windows flicker (go out of focus and back in focus).  Also when I press Caps Lock and I am on a full screen program/game typing something, it minimizes it and brings me to my desktop. If someone can give me a link to the keyboard drivers or have a tip to fix this, please do reply.

Thanks in advance,

John M.

Inspiron 15R vs 7000 series, what are the main differences?

0
0

Hiya,

Looking for some advice please. I need to upgrade my Dell laptop and the two choices I have are the Inspiron 15R and 15 (7000 series)

http://www.dell.com/uk/p/inspiron-15-7537/pd?oc=cn75310&model_id=inspiron-15-7537

http://www.dell.com/uk/p/inspiron-15r-5537/pd?oc=cnr1515&model_id=inspiron-15r-5537

Both similar price. Same size screen. Same processor (i5 2.6Ghz). The 15R seems to have the edge in terms of other specs - slightly more RAM (8GB vs 6GB in the 7000 series) and double the hard drive space (1TB vs 500GB). The 15R is slightly larger and heavier but not something I care too much about, and the bigger size means it has an integral CD/DVD drive which the 7000 series doesn't - and this is something I want so useful to be saving a few quid on an external USB optical drive which the 7000 would require.

So the 15R seems to generally be the better spec'd laptop, and is a little cheaper.

But the reason I am hesitating is that the 7000 series is badged as a 'multimedia' option whereas the 15R is just a bog standard laptop. I notice that the graphics cards are different... the 7000 series has NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2GB DDR5 whereas the 15R has an AMD Radeo HD 8670M 2GB DDR3. I couldn't see any other obvious difference that makes the 7000 series a multimedia specialist option, other than the graphics card. My main use for my laptop is digital art - I use Adobe CS5 and various other photo/media editing programmes on a daily basis, so having a laptop with decent processing power is helpful.

My questions are: is there a big difference between the two graphics cards mentioned above, and (without going into a lot of technical detail) what does the difference mean in terms of general laptop use (e.g. is one better for gaming, or for streamling video, or for photo editing, etc, etc?)

Are there any other differences between these two laptops that i've missed somewhere? I find it a little strange that the 15R - on the face of it a better spec'd laptop - is the cheaper option. Makes me think i've missed something obvious somewhere! Or is the extra cash for the 7000 series just going on a fancy design with the bevelled aluminium edges?! (I'm not too bothered about how the laptop looks, I use it at home, i'm not a coffee shop laptop poser!). Practicality and robustness are more important to me.

Any advice would be greatly welcomed!

Thanks
Tom

When will dell release a trackpad driver to support windows 8 gestures

I have a dell xps 15z.  Having used the work around options detailed in other post i have managed to get a basic trackpad working with windows 8 on this device I find it hard to understand why there is no drivers available to support windows 8 gestures.

Dell have managed to get a stand alone track pad into production but cannot fix a simple trackpad on one of their high end computers.

Having experienced a number of problems with this Dell xps 15z this is definitely the end for me and Dell having used their computers for a number of years.

Has any one managed to get a driver installed that works with windows 8 gestures????

I just got a 14R 5437, coming from a MacBook Pro. Even with the palm rejection set to the maximum setting it seems like even breathing too near causes the pointer to jump and often to move out of the text box or wherever I actually want to type. Any hints, tips, tricks and suggestions greatly appreciated.

E6510 INSTANT ON : LATITUDE ON READER OFF

I was recently bought a laptop for work (Latitude E6510) and in the original System Configuration information it states I have 1 "INSTANT ON : LATITUDE ON READER OFF".

I also have a small button next to the power button that looks like a figure of eight with a flat bottom, laid on its side.

However, I soon started having blue screen issues with the laptop and we decided that this was probably something in the image when the laptop was built so we wiped the disk and started over.

Now, I'm not sure if it ever worked before, but now nothing happens when I press this button. I've read its meant to give me fast access to the latops basic functions and so wondered what I should do to fix it. I cant find anything anywhere that says if it uses normal disk space or not.

Any help with this would be grately appreciated.

Replacing L502x Cover

I have been looking everywhere for a step by step guide on how to replace the cover of my laptop, because I bought it used with this funky artistic robot custom cover on it that I want to replace so I can look more professional. Does anyone know how to do this? Is it fairly simple and easy? All I can find are ones that show you how to completely remove the entire display itself, I just need to swap covers.

Thanks for your help,
Riley

Inspiron m501R 7 Beeps On Start-Up Problem

Hi All,

I have seen numerous posts regarding 7 beeps on start-up.
Well my laptop now does it, and not being a techy, or savvy, I am unable to fix it myself.
The laptop is only 2.5yrs old.
I know lately it has been playing up - lines on screen occasionally, but that stopped, and thought everything was ok, till this started
If this is a common Dell problem, why dont they fix it free of charge, or send out a new motherboard/cpu so that I can get someone who knows what they are doing to fix it.

Come on Dell, I expected better from a big company like yours.

Someone please help me, I have data on my hard drive I would rather not lose!!

Laptop won't turn on

Hello,

I've had my Inspiron N5010 for about 2 and a half years, and have never had a problem with it until recently.

About a week and a half ago, I got a notification saying that I needed to replace my battery. So I continued to use it while I was waiting for the battery to come in. For a while it worked without problems but after a day it would turn on once for about 5 minutes and then it would turn itself off and not turn back on (without making any beeping noises or anything).

My battery finally arrived last night, so I put in the new battery and let it charge overnight before turning on my laptop. This morning I turned it on, but I'm still having the same problem. It turned on once for about five minutes and then shut itself off. Now when I turn it on it stays on long enough to go to the login screen and then turns off. The most recent time I tried to turn it on it said that a disk needs to be checked for consistency, but once again won't stay on long enough for it to actually go through the entire process.

Just wondering if anyone else has gone through something similar, any advice at all will help!

Thanks,

Taylor

Latitude D420 - Getting a Clean XP Pro Installation to Have Internet Connectivity

Yes, I know it is a really old machine, but it still runs fine. I somehow installed something on it and it blue screened. I couldn't fix it with the Windows XP Pro installation disc, so I wiped it clean and reinstalled XP Pro, unfortunately losing everything on the computer along with all the drivers. I don't have the driver disc that came with the machine any longer. I tried to connect it to my modem, but it doesn't recognize it. I called my provider Charter and they said the modem is sending the computer plenty of information, but getting nothing back. They told me that Dell likely has proprietary software to help it recognize modems and wireless routers. I have all the recommended and critical drivers off the Dell site along with some of the optional drivers. Can someone direct me to the ones I will need and any steps I should follow to get it up and running. I have other laptops, but I find this one quite useful and don't want to junk it yet as it was running perfectly until just a couple days ago. Thanks, Dave

Dell XPS 15 not charging but is plugged in

my  Dell XPS 15z is only ten months old while on my computer last night something popped up saying:

'The AC power adapter type cannot be determined.

Your system will operate slower and battery will not charge.

This problem might be solved by:

  • Ensure the plug is inserted completely for best system operation.
  • Connect a Dell 130W adapter or higher'

i've always taken really good care of my laptop never dropped it or anything i hope that its not broke...

if it is broken and i have my year warranty do i still pay for whatever new part i need?
