I just got this laptop three days ago. I really love it! Today I downloaded League of Legends and played it, then when I decided to stop playing I went back to the desktop and then the start screen and noticed that my touchscreen wasn't working. The screen is fine, but the touch feature won't work. I thought there might be a setting to turn the touchscreen on and off and the game automatically turned it off, but I couldn't find anything like that in the settings. Any help?

Dell Inspiron 1545 - won't boot up, totally dead. PSU has light and power light lights up as if booting but no fan woosh or HDD click or other lights (ie. optical drive)

I am trying to fix a Dell Inspiron 1545 for a friend so she doesn't have to shell out the stupid money a repair engineer wants to even breath on the laptop.
The power supply brick is ok, light is on and voltage is correct.
We have:
Removed the battery and tried without
Reseated the memory and tested it all in various sequences to prove memory is not at fault (or more or less anyway)
Reseated HDD
**HDD tested in her Mums inspiron 1545 and booted up fine**
What it does:
Power brick light ok both when charging and on its own. When on button pressed the power on light comes on at the front and stays on, however the fan does not kick in nor does the HDD not spin up just dead. No POST or anything just totally blank (probably obvious as HDD doesn't kick in)
I am loathed to think it is the BIOS battery as there have been no warnings. I have not reseated the processor/heat sink as have no thermal paste at the moment.
To me it points to the motherboard, but does anyone else think there is a slim chance it is the bios battery (pain in the **** to get to) or the processor. Only other thought is the motherboard is not getting power but I cannot tell.
I am doing all this at no cost to my friend so any help most gratefully received as if she passes it to an engineer they literally want ££s just to open the lid lol.
I have had a good read around the forum and have not found anything to help. Most seem to have the problem but their fans/hdd kick in.

Anyone else have a USB port die after Microsoft's "Patch Tuesday" today?
This could be hardware failure coincidental with today's updates, but has anyone else with a Studio 1749 or similar, had a USB port go bad.
After the reboot following the 15 or so updates, an unexpected driver install started for the port, and immediately failed. Open Device Manager and there's an "Unknown Device" with yellow triangle.
Location is: Port_#0001.Hub_#0004
Device Status says: Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)

Windows 8.1 Upgrade Report reveals "not compatible"
In researching what it takes to upgrade my Latitude 5420 to windows 8.1 I found that my Dell Data Protection Encryption 64-bit is not compatible. Other features are not as well. What is the best way to proceed given I'd like to keep the security of encryption. My Pro-service contract is over and I prefer not to renew it.

Dell N5110
I got a question. My laptop is still under warranty, but i lost my receipt :( but i still have my monthly payments in my bank history, Is there ANY way i can get a replacement for my broken one? :( I gave it for warranty 4 times already i think and it still comes back and in a week or so it starts acting bad again. Like overheating(sometimes i need to plug in a cooling pad so i don't hurt my hand). I think other issues are irrelevant due to overheating. I think everything was replaced in this thing except of screen :( and it still comes back and overheats! If there is any possible way i can get help here with replacing it even for a bit worse but more stable model i would be SO happy! I can't even play League of Legends because 15min ingame it starts to burst flames and fps drops to 10-15... I can't afford a new laptop and my warranty is ending soon and i just ended my payments for it...

Inspiron 15R SE (7520) update issues
Hi folks, new here and having some issues with 15R SE (7520) after updating to win 8.1
CCC and the Radeon video card don't seem to be working, which seems to be a common problem.
Went into support centre and entered my service tag etc to get updates, it shows me a list of about 15 recommended driver updates etc.
However installing those updates doesn't seem to achieve anything - if I install something, restart and go back into support centre it still shows the same 15 recommended updates for me to download/install, like they haven't installed at all.
Is there something obvious I'm missing, or is Dell's update process really that hopeless?

Dell Inspiron 14z 5423 Boot problem - Stuck on Dell logo screen
Hi
Our Dell Inspiron 14z is stuck on the Dell Logo at boot up.
It ran out of Battery last night but has been on charge for over an hour this morning.
I can't press F2 F8 or F12 because it freezes at this point.
Any advice greatly appreciated!

Latitude E7440- Will not work with E-Legacy Extender when unplugged
We recently got a new Latitude E7440 in and were planning to transition to that model for our company from our traditional E64X0 model laptops. What we have ran into is we cannot use the E7440 with the E-Legacy Extender if the laptop is running on battery power. We get a message about needing to plug the ac adapter into the dock(which the E-Lagacy Extender doesn't have). Has anyone else run into this? Is this a bug or did the new model lose this capability.

Airplane Mode Switch Driver
Hello,
I am intensively searching for a driver for the Dell Airplane Mode Switch as it is used in Inspiron, Alienware or Lattitude notebooks. In my case it is an Inspiron 7537.
I need a driver for Windows 7 but all I find are drivers for Windows 8 and those drivers don't seem to have a valid signature for Windows 7. (Error Message 52 of Windows: Driver signature is not valid). The Windows 8 driver itself might work after all!

Studio 1558 charging issues.
I had my Dell Studio 1558 plugged in and charging and went into full-screen to watch a video. After the video ended and I exited full screen I noticed that despite still being plugged in the battery was no longer charging but here's the thing. As long as it stays plugged it the battery will stay at the same percent and it will tell me how many hours I have left (currently at 6% and 143 hours). So it seems that it is just discharging at a very slow rate. Every time I shut down or hibernate/sleep etc. it will lose a few hours from its battery life. I thought it was the battery so I got a new one but that didn't fix the problem. I thought it was the charger so I tried to power up the laptop without the battery and it still worked. I'm not convinced that it's not the charger yet as I had to replace my original charger with a generic brand but I don't want to buy another one if I don't have to. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Touchpad gestures/scrolling/pointer not working after windows 8.1 update on Dell Inspiron 11 3137
Just got a brand new laptop, Dell Inspiron 11 3137, and updated to windows 8.1. The touchpad does not work properly now; gestures/scrolling/pointer not working. I've spent over 16 hours getting windows 8.1 installed and then troubleshooting this issue. I've contacted Dell; updated the driver from Dell, even tried installing the latest driver from Synaptic. I even tried setting the Synaptic app to run under the windows 8 version.
Touchpads have been around a long time. It's the last thing I expect not to work properly.
At this point I am ready to send the laptop back and call it quits on windows.
Can anybody help with this?

Inspiron 7537 and Bluetooth mouse disconnections
I just bought yesterday the above model. I used also a bluetooth mouse from logitech. However, I face up many disconnections very often (I mean that in one minute three or four times). I tried to update automatically the drivers for bluetooth adapter but it mention that I have the latest drivers. The mouse works properly since I tried it in many other laptops without any issue. Do you have any suggestion?

inspiron touchpad with windows 8
quite a long while ago i installed windows 8 on my Dell inspiron N5010 and the touchpad stopped working propperly.
back then tech support told me that there is no driver for windows 8 yet.
had anything changed since then? and do i have anyyy way to make the touchpad work properly again even thought i have windows 8?

Battery recognition problem
I have a Dell Laptop 1558 studio which is about 3 years old, I kept getting a message informing me that the battery needed replacement and have done that, there were not problems at first but now the laptop does not recognise the batter and does not charge when plugged in.
I have tried all the recommended solutions holding the power button down etc updating my bios but nothing solves the problem, I tried using my old battery and when I first powered up everything worked fine but the next time I powered up I had the same problem with the old battery as I do with the new one.
Sometimes however when powering on everything works fine and the battery charges up as normal, but then the next time it is back to this same problem
Is there anything else I can try Do I need a new charger cable and power source ac adapter maybe?

Mantra 1720 Laptop = Inspiron?
I have an Inspiron 1720 that had a dead motherboard, found a replacement on Ebay and fitted it. Working fine except the new board calls itself a "Mantra 1720" in the BIOS POST display. I can't find any reference to that system type. The BIOS on the board is a version 0.2.8 from 2006 (IIRC - it's not in front of me right now) and trying to update to the latest Inspiron BIOS fails as the updater complains that it's the wrong system type!
It'd be nice to get the system BIOS up to date, Anyone any idea if that's possible?
Interestingly, the Dell support site thinks it's an Inspiron if I enter the service tag shown on the setup screen.

How to Install A10 BIOS on Inspiron/E1705 with NO battery available?
I installed Win7 64bit on my Inspiron 9400/E1705 and when I went to instal the BIOS update MP061A10.EXE it failed because it requires both power and battery to be operating. My battery is shot and I can not afford another $150.00 battery that only lasts a year at this time. Is there a way to build a floppy flash for this A10 bios update?
