Inspiron NR 7110 USB 3.0 ports not working, PCI driver won't install

I'm having some issues with a newly acquired Dell. It has a fresh windows home premium install on it.

The PCI driver is not installed and when I go in "My Dell" it identifies that the driver is missing, but when I click on Install it opens the device manger properties window but I can't get a driver to download. Where can I get the driver for this?

Also my USB 3.0 ports are not working. I've tried deleting the USB controllers from the device manager and reinstalling the drivers but they are still not working.

I've run the system diagnostic tool and it identified the 1st problem but didn't say where to get the driver. It didn't identify the second problem.

I'd really appreciate some help with this!

I have a Dell Xps l502x , broke my old backlight keyboard by spilling water on it in August , since then the fan has been running nonstop, been using an external USB keyboard as a substitute until , the new backlight keyboard came this weekend , I connected it up started testing it and noticed that the first two rows of the keyboard aren't working as they should, I looked around for a solution, tried keyboard mapping from C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Resource Kits\Tools but didn't help, the only solution that was any help to me that I found was '' Function + X'' that got the fan working normally again.

Here's a breakdown of everything wrong with the new keyboard when typing

is there any way I can fix this?

Vostro 3555 - Replaced DC Jack/VGA Board

The original DC jack will allow the laptop to run with the AC adapter (genuine Dell), but the battery does not charge.  There is also a crack in the plastic housing for the jack, and the round, plastic centerpiece that protects the pin is missing.  I ordered a new part (PFYC8), but the laptop would not power on.  In fact, the green power light on the AC adapter goes out as soon as I connect it to the DC jack.  If I remove the DC jack board and connect the AC adapter, the green power light stays on.  But as soon as I put the board in place...and press the motherboard into the DC jack board receiver...the green light goes out.  I ordered the same part from another supplier, but had the same result.  The original board still allows me to use the laptop; just cannot charge the battery.  Does anyone have an idea of what might be going on?  Thank you.

I have an Inspiron 700m.

Recently had HD reformatted and Win XP prof installed. Was not showing Wireless light. Installed Intel wireless from Dell site: Intel PRO wireless LAN 2100 3A Mini VC  adapter after trying several other versions which said "incompatible" after download. The wireless light came on and I was able to connect to my wireless at home and at my office (different routers) without difficulty. However, since last week I am getting the message "unable to find a certificate to connect you to your network". My other dell continues to connect without difficulty. I cannot connect even with an ethernet cable.

I have not changed any settings. I am unable to achieve System restore. I have followed advice on the net about unchecking the authentication box in the wireless properties but that entire page is greyed out. The box is unticked anyway. Updating/rolling back drivers not working. Please advise. Thanks

Any 3rd party chargers work for a Dell Inspiron 15r N5110? Backlit keyboard/keypads, or other enhancements?

Over the years I have learned to have a spare laptop charger, just in case. I have a Dell Inspiron 15r N5110. Just acquired it. Bios A11 8/3/2012, SMBIOS 2.6, from System Information. Works fine with Dell JU012, ADP-130DB B, PA-4E Family, DA130PE1-00 charger. Upon reboot, bios recognizes a 130W charger (I think it only said 130W on the "blue screen" BIOS window.

However, when I plug in my not so old targus apa63us (?02) (90W output max) or antec np90 (output W max not on the "brick") with what appear to be proper fitting plugs, no charger is recognized on the BIOS screen. The targus and antec maintain power to the computer, but do NOT charge the battery beyond its current level (tested at 74%), although the battery charge % is maintained.  When I use the Targus or Antec, a dialog box now pops up (AS Adapter Warning" , "AC Power Adapter type cannot be determined" - did not happen the first few times of use) asking me to use a 130W charger. (Also, the computer screen window changes it's setting to "Basic", and I do not know why nor how to stop that from happening - maybe I am using Aero when plugged in).

The Dell "brick" is 2x the size and heavier than the others. It would be nice to travel with a lighter charger device. I would also prefer not to have spend a lot of money on a Dell charger.

The Antec is great because it has a right angle prong. The Dell charger plug is at the left and in back, So you get stabbed by the protruding charger cable when working on the Dell in bed. It is also leading the Dell charger cable to bend near the tip, but similar to the bends in any folded up charger.

Some postings mentioned that Dell might have a special chip in their chargers. Thus, a 3rd party solution might not work.

FWIW, I am also looking for a backlit keyboard / keypad too.

Any other suggested ehnacements? I have i7 2670, 8GB RAM, 1 TB 5400 HD. ?HD ?3000/HD/?4000 and NVIDIA Geforce GT 525M Graphics (no idea of  which intel series graphic card is part of my graphics duopoly - HD,  HD3000, or  HD4000).

Any suggestions appreciated.

Has someone noticed ghost images (screen burn-in) on Dell XPS 12 Duo?

I recently noticed ghost images on my Dell XPS 12 Duo. If a bright image on dark background stays on the screen for a couple of minutes and then I switch to somewhat dark background I can clearly see the previous image on the screen for some time before it fades away. Once I noticed it I started spotting even more subtle ghost images. I even managed to capture it in a picture with a low-end digital camera - http://imgur.com/a/RIYff (notice the tray icons clearly seen in the Win 8 start screen and even the facebook ad is visible). It is far more clear when you look at the actual screen and not on a picture. I already arranged replacement laptop (as I had other issues with this one) but yesterday I read news about mass defects in Apple's Retina MacBooks ( http://www.ibtimes.com/print/macbook-pro-retina-display-problems-apple-faces-class-action-suit-ghosting-issue-1129939 ) with practically the same issue. Now I wonder if it is possible that all Dell XPS 12 Duo screens have this problem.

So anyone else seeing this on his machine?

How to shut off laptop?

Seriously. My Inspiron 14z 5423 threw a tantrum today.  Shut down as usual but the screen said Shutting Down with the circle going around. Ten minutes later, it's still spinning. Power button, alt+ctrl+del did nothing. I finally stuck a plastic flosser end into the hole to reset.  Now -- tomorrow what will happen when I turn it on?  Will it simply restart as normal?  Will there be a record of why it couldn't shut down?

Was resetting it as so correct?  I didn't want to leave it to deplete the battery.

Dell Inspiron1525 Wifi Catcher Problem

Hi everyone,

One day after Christmas I turned my laptop and there was a sudden flash and a furtive red light and it was off. It was the first time it happened to me and I thought may be it is the battery. I plugged in the battery and turned it on a couple of minutes later and I got the message: Wi_Fi Catcher Network Locator

"Your Wi-Fi CatcherTMband configuration is not compatible with your WLAN card band configuration. Select YES to automatically change your WI-Fi Catcher band configuration or NO to keep current......"

I selected NO of course because I thought I have not done anything for it to change while it was working three days ago when I last turned on my laptop!

I then bought a cable to connect to the internet thinking it is the wi-fi at home to no avail. I also looked in the internet and found one that had a similar problem. The solution proposed could not be for me because the setting changes they suggested are actually in my computer.!

I would really appreciate any help to resolving this issue.

Thank you very much

Latitude X1 - How to turn on Bluetooth

Hi,  I reinstalled XP on this old computer and when I went to install the Blluetooth stack from my drivers CD ("Toshiba stack for Dell Wireless 350 Bluetooth Internal Module") the process gets to 56% of the way through and then stalls.  Here's what happens - I get a message to push fn-f2 to "turn on bluetooth" so I did so which turned off all wireless functions including wi-fi.  I then pushed the sequence again to turn wireless back on and clicked the "okay" button on the dialogue box after which the process just stalls.  Not sure what I am doing wrong or what else I can do differently.  I suppose I could just reinstall XP but everything else works just fine.  Thank you!

New XPS 13 (9333) Constant Noise

I have just recently received a new XPS 13 with the new haswell i7 processor, 8gb RAM, 256gb ssd, and windows 8.1.

I really like this laptop, but it makes a really bizarre noise. It happens constantly as soon as its powered on, like a high pitched whirring sound from somewhere beneath the keyboard. It also seems pretty inconsistent, like it flickers in frequency, and when you use programs (e.g scroll through webpages) it gets louder.

Can anyone help me with what the issue is here? Any help appreciated.

Dell Inspiron N7010 start-up problem

$

Hi, I have an almost 2-year-old laptop with which I've been having problems for the last week or so. It all started when after hibernating the computer had a blank black screen not responding so I shut it off. After that it seems to boot up only once every 20 or so times. What happens after I press the power button: The laptop starts booting but doesn't get to the dell startup screen, after a while (after booting 3-4 times unsuccessfully) the fans even start spinning but the screen stays black and the hard drive light indicates that the drive isn't working.

LED Lights: The first light turns on, the second light turns on for a second or two (indicating hard drive starting to boot up) but then the light turns off and the computer is still running, but nothing happens. The third light is fine, there is no problem with the battery or the power supply.

I've tried reseating the hard drive, the RAM, removing one stick, then the other etc. and nothing helps. The strangest thing is sometimes (very rarely) it does work, so far it booted up 4-5 times (if it gets to the DELL startup screen it's fine), but the rest 85 times it didn't . I am at a loss, I've read every single forum post on the internet about this. Any help will be thoroughly appreciated.

Dell inspiron 14z 5423 ultrabook screen gone dark but can barely see at certain angle.

I searched the forum for the similar issue but found none. My wife ultrabook (14z 5423) screen turn dark. However I can still see the icons on Windows screen at certain angle (very dark though). I thought the screen is bad (maybe back light is off) and bought a new one to replace it. The problem is still there after I replace the screen. Sometime suddenly it works again (both old and new screen) and after a few days it went dark again.

Could you guys suggest some idea to fix it ? The screen cable, mainboard ?

Thanks.

Battery problem. It starts saying "Plugged in not charging" after battery reaches 88%

So basically my old battery died out so i ordered a new battery which is compatible with my new model and its only been a month or 2 since this problem occurred and basically even if i completely drain the battery and charge it again and even restart and charge etc the battery will change until it reaches 88% and after that it will say plugged in not charging or in the dell battery meter it will indicate "idle". I have tried the solution where you uninstall the driver and restart the laptop etc and i still have the problem. I ran the Dell diagnostic for the battery and it passed, i also updated my BIOS but that did not work either. Care to shed some light anyone?

Thank you.

Extra Info: Laptop model is N5010. Approx 2 years old. Windows 7 Home Premium. The problem has only been around for about 3 days.

Edit: I just checked now from BIOS the AC adapter or whatever it is called is 65w if that is of any help to you.

Inspiron 17r SE 7720 Windows 8.1 battery issue

I've got my laptop set as dual boot and on the Windows 8.1 Pro side (the other is Windows 7 Pro) it says the battery is constantly at 73% charge and charging.

I've downloaded the drivers available, but it still says this, but on my Windows 7 side it says the battery is full. This has only happened a year and one day since I bought my computer (so the battery warranty is now a day out) so I'm a little concerned about the timing and if it's an actual hardware rather than software problem.

Has anyone else had this problem? I've had a few teething problems with 8.1, so I'm hoping this is the fault and not some devious Dell plot to make me buy a battery a day after the warranty on it runs out.

Extended battery life mystery...

Hi.

I have Inspiron 3521 with the Radeon 8370M. When i start the laptop only on battery, the battery meter shows 5 hrs and there is no info message about starting up the Extended battery life option. Buuuut when i plug the charger for 1 minute and then unplug  it, while the laptop is still working, suddenly Extended battery life is turned on and the battery meter(after 1 minute of recalculation) shows 6-7 hrs usage time. Aaaand this 6-7 hrs are real, i mean this is not some kind of bug or trick. Strange, cool or mystery?

I have aaaall of the latest drivers installed on the Win 7/64 system. Any suggestions why this happening every time?
