I have enabled TMP in the BIOS, and I have Windows 7 Professional. I think there is some software Dell has installed that would favor their own encryption scheme that is hiding Bitlocker from me. I just want to use Bitlocker. Anyone have any ideas?
I have an older E4310 and enabling bitlocker was a snap.

I recently upgraded to Windows 8.1 PRO.
While the other Quickset buttons on my 17RSE 7720 ( Wave Maxx and quick functionality) are working fine, the settings button does not seem to be working.
I got the latest Quickset driver from the Dell site and installed it, but that doesn't seem to have solved the problem.
Is this a known issue, or is there something else I need to do to resolve the problem. Kindly advise.

I have Dell Vostro 1000, Windows7 32bit installed.
Problem: Sometime it does not detect my default WiFi connection.
Action have been taken: I rename my WiFi connection in router then its appear in laptop connection list, after some days it does not recognize it and I have to rename again in my router to appear in laptop connection list. Although other connection that are in my surrounding are appear in my connection list.
Any idea guys.

I have just purchased a Dell XPS 15. I decided to buy a 2.5" USB 3.0 caddie to plug my existing laptop hard drive into so I could transfer the data across. The drive from my old laptop is a 500GB hard disk.
When you plug in the caddie with the 500GB drive in, you get one of two things happen. Either the driver fails to install, or the drive is not detected what so ever.
I work for a Dell reseller so we have other Dell XPS 15 laptops in stock, so I decided to test on one of those and it does the exact same thing.
I decided to change the hard drive in the caddie - I changed it for a 160GB hard drive - this works absolutely fine on USB 3.0.
I put my 500GB hard drive back in the caddie and plugged it into my friends desktop system which also has USB 3.0 - it works absolutely fine which confirms it is not a fault with the caddie.
I decided it could need either a bios update or the latest USB 3.0 drivers installed. On checking on the website the latest bios is A03 which is the version I already have on my laptop. I checked the drivers under chipset and found "Renesas USB3.0 Host Controller" - I downloaded and installed this but during installation it pops up saying:
My next diagnostic would be to put another 500GB hard drive in the caddie of a different manufacturer (current is Samsung) and see if that works to confirm if it is a compatibility issue, or if the system cannot handle a 500GB hard drive in the USB 3.0 port. Unfortunately at the moment I don't have a spare 500GB drive.
Can Dell give any clarification on this matter? Do any of Dells other laptops use the same controller for USB 3.0 as the XPS 15?

I have an inspiron E1505. Something happened to it that I had to reinstall windows. Once I reinstalled windows it is no longer telling me that wireless is an option. I'm sure you can imagine how incredibly terrifying that is given the fact that its a laptop and the whole purpose of it is to be able to move around and use it in different places. If anybody could please help me figure out how to get my computer to recognize its wireless card I'd greatly appreciate it. I had wireless before the re-install and now I don't. Not cool

Outlook 2013 has three or four areas where you can perform a vertical scroll. On any other computer that I have used, including a MacBook Air with Windows 8.1, and a Dell Optiplex with Windows 8.1 and an external mouse with scroll wheel, when I hover in any of these 4 areas of outlook and initiate either a Two finger scroll (MacBook Air) or scroll with wheel, the area that scrolls is the area that i am hovered over regardless if i have first clicked inside that area.
This is the normal behaviour i have always experienced. You don't need to click into the area to scroll that area, the mouse over the area determines which area will vertically scroll.
This is NOT The case on the Dell XPS 13 (9333) and it is extremely frustrating. I have to CLICK inside the area first, and then the scrolling happens.. This is a poor user experience. Dell, can you please help me fix this??!!

sometimes when my laptop is connected to the charger, it shows that it is connected but not charging! it happened to me not once, and I don't know what the problem is. when I change my position at my house and switching the power socket its charging correctly. but a day later, when I connect the laptop again to the same power socket at the wall it shows the same thing again - that the battery is connected to power; but it is not charging.
I hope its not a real big problem. can anyone help me with it???
Hi, has anybody experienced random freezes, where the screen, keyboard and mouse stop functioning for almost 30 seconds?
I've recently purchased a Latitude e7240, and even after upgrading to the latest drivers and the A07 BIOS, I still see random freezes for 30 seconds. All the diagnostics test seem to pass, and Support are blaming it on windows updates, which I've uninstalled.
The freezes seem to happen when I'm doing tasks from word processing to web browsing.... I like the laptop on paper, but in practice, it has been a nightmare!
Same problem as posted previously. Worked fine now will not detect hard drive.
I followed steps to disable 'Integrated NIC'.
Rebooted and system indicated, Reboot and Select proper Boot device or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key_
Loaded diagnostics (ePSA Pe-boot System Assessment) which indicated, "Msg: Hard Drive - No Hard Drive detected"

I'm unable to find a setting at the OS or Bios level that will disable to Ambient Light sensor. Am i not looking in the right spot? For, its not lighting up as much as i want it to be. I shouldn't have to be at the whim of what MOST people prefer.
At boot up, my screen is bright and beautiful, within seconds of the desktop loading the sensor kicks in.
So basically, how can i turn this off??

I have a brand new DELL Inspiron 3135. The Touchscreen has stopped working.
I tried everything I could find and understand in these forums and Google:
1) Updated Windows.
2) Updated DELL BIOS
3) Looked for the device in the "Tablet PC" device manager under "Human Interface Devices", but it is not there.
4) Searched for "Calibrate" in Windows, but couldn't find anything.
Please help me with this critical issue.

After installing new win 8.1 driver for quickset i get an error message after starting it. Not defined, just says contact quickset developper.
Also after installing new win 8.1 driver for touchpad the functionlight which indicates if touchpad is on or off no longer functions.
Anybody got a good sulution to these problems?

The feet of the base of my Dell E6410 have come off and is scratching my desk. My laptop is fully covered under warranty under Complete Care but Dell Tech support are refusing to replace this stating that this is not covered under warranty. I don't get it are the feet not a part of a laptop? Has anyone faced such issues in the past with Dell Support?
I have just recently received a new XPS 13 with the new haswell i7 processor, 8gb RAM, 256gb ssd, and windows 8.1.
I really like this laptop, but it makes a really bizarre noise. It happens constantly as soon as its powered on, like a high pitched whirring sound from somewhere beneath the keyboard. It also seems pretty inconsistent, like it flickers in frequency, and when you use programs (e.g scroll through webpages) it gets louder.
Can anyone help me with what the issue is here? Any help appreciated.
