I bought my xps13 2 and a half years ago.

Recently it would not wake up after sleeping even after I pressed the power button, so I checked this thread http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3518/t/19448699.aspx and followed the instructions telling me to turn off intel smart connect and intel rapid start in the advanced bootup settings.

I may have disabled the wrong settings. After I disabled these, I tried to turn on the laptop, but it would not turn on. The keyboard lit up and it beeped 4 times, stopped for a brief moment, and then repeated this pattern. I checked if the battery was the problem by removing it and then trying to turn it on, but this didn't work.

How can I fix this?

My laptop will not turn on and it beeps 7 times.  What can I do to fix this? Can I do it on my own or do I need professional assistance.

On the manual it says it can support upto 2GB of RAM max.

However this is not the case, it can take 4GB of RAM (haven't tried more)

If possible could you update the manual and add Windows 7 drivers?

If not, who do I contact so this can be done.

I purchased a Crucial M500 SSD (240G) and can't boot after cloning.  I used Paragon Disk Copy and tried both copying hard disk and migrate the OS but neither works to boot up the machine.  Is there a configuration I need to change or a driver I need to install?  If I try to use a usb recovery file, it says the drive is too small.  If I try install the SSD after cloning and attempt a boot, it sits at the Dell splash screen - then nothing.

When I plug in my studio 1735 the power light on the computer comes on for a second or two and then goes out. Then of course no start up. I suspect the power supply but am hesitant to buy a new one in case that is not the problem. Anyone else ever have similar problems?

As a result of a virus that couldn't be fixed, it was decided to reinstall XP from cd's included with the then new (six years ago) inspiron 1505 laptop.

It appears that the Windows Xp was restored ,   when it came to installing the drivers etc. with the Resource Disc with the drivers I was presented with choosing drivers based on the model (Inspiron 1505)  ,  none of the choices matched the model that my system said I had (mm061 I recall), instead ( mxc051, 710, xxxxxx  as my recollection) were the choices I was given.

Any suggestions for starters?

I bought my new laptop about a month ago and I really love it. I thought that when I bought it I read somewhere that it had a backlit Keyboard, but I cannot find anywhere if that is correct or not.

I have the Dell Inspiron 15 R with Touch and the Intel i5.

I have trying to gains a solution to this issue for several months. fairways on my computer late on night back in August. I left it n on the coffee table went upstairs and when I came down it had gone to sleep. When I tried to power it up the next day...7 beeps black screen. I had a work laptop at the time and so felt I would deal with it later assuming it Watson going to be a big deal. Little did i know Isis would become such an issue. Processor failure.  My warranty is of course expired. I do have this option to update the warranty, but come on. I just had to replace the battery at the end of July 2013. An almost $190 expense. I do not want to pay $250 to extend the warranty and another 69$ for you to tell me what is wrong. i have all of our family photos and documents stored on this computer. From the sounds of things this is a all to  common problem for these laptops. Why has there been no recall?

i purchased this assuming I was buying a  quality product. I invested in expensive software and a new battery and now have nothing to show for it. when I went to Best Buy to discuss it with them, they recommended i purchase a different brand entirely, stating that Dell have become a company producing computers from a 'grab bag of parts' they recommended I purchase an Acer before a Dell. That is fabulous that a year and a half ago they sold this to me and had rave reviews for me.

So, does Dell intend to do anything about this faulty processor issue that clear.y should have been recalled? If not i suppose I will call this $1400 good (software, battery, computer) and move on.

Hey, I just got my Inspiron 15 the other day and I have been mucking around for a couple of hours trying to figure out why this isn't working

The AMD Radeon HD 8850M video card isn't responding in any games, and doesn't appear in my BIOS info yet shows up in my Device Manager. When I disable the integrated card all it does is make neither work. I've installed all the latest drivers and I am still having no luck, I've also uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers for the GPUs but nothing has happened.

I've also maxed out the settings in power and and changed a bunch of power settings and 3D settings in the AMD Catalyst Control Centre that other forums and site recommended yet it still uses the integrated GPU.

Don't know if it will help at all but here is what I pulled out of the DirectX Dialogue Tool

I let my daughter play around on my lap top the other day why I was updating hers. She is 7 years old and somehow managed to reboot to bios and set a HDD password. Now I cant do anything. all she remembers she says is pushing a bunch of buttons. Does anyone know how to or if possible to clear the password or recover it? I cannot boot to either the BIOS or the OS. I removed the driv and hooked it up via a usb adapter I bought and the system I hook it up to sees it but it comes up with a message that says "Waiting for drive to be Inilized." anyone have ahy sugestions?

Hi,

I have the e7440 for a week now and suddenely the laptop started to power on right after shuting down. I tried updating the bios but that didn't help, so anyone have other suggestions?

Hello,

I have a brand new Dell Vostro 3560.

CPU fan has been working constantly, even when the CPU is very low. The noise is awful! There is no software installed only new win7, latest DELL bios A13 and all latest drivers (chipset, video card, etc).

I have performed and CPU fan disgnostic (reboot->F12 ->Disgnostic) it is passed. CPU FAN speed is reported 4600RPM.

Please advise how to resolve this problem!

I'm trying to fix someone's Inspiron, he gave it to me said it would not connect to wireless. Here is what I have done and observed in a nutshell.

I looked in device manager and the card was not present, the hardware switch immediately resets to off when I try to turn it on. This laptop also has WiMax, and bluetooth.

1. Attempted to connect internet via ethernet. No connection, it connected to my network but not the internet.

2. Ran various malware tools, malwarebytes returned hundreds of items, mostly ads, and removed them. I tried a safe mode scan and a trojan was found and removed. Still no connection.

3. Winsock, TCP/IP reset, failed because "no device is a state permissible for this operation"...or something like that.

4. Reinstalled Win7 to factory defaults. Wifi device still does not show in dev manager.

I have researched this a bit, I think I need to install Dell Notebook System Software? Where do I get this, the utility CD I have also says to install this first, and it is located in either the "Driver" or "Utility" section of the CD, but it's not there unless it's called something different?

Or am I wasting my time on a hardware issue?

I have Dell Inspiron 15R N5110 (win 7 64bit) and service tag is (<Admin Note: removed per privacy policy~RK>), and the processor is" Intel  (R) Core (TM) i7 - 2670 QM  CPU @2.20 GHz.

I have tried to install Intel Wireless display application but I was unable and I receive the message that my platform is not compatible.

 

Please help.

I just recently purchase Dell inspiron 15 3521 laptop, but I did not receive any CD/DVD with it. I tried to search out in Dell forum and found that this can be created through Dell Backup and recovery software, but still I have few questioned which need clarification.

1) Window image can be created with USB flash drive. What should be the size of USB flash drive. Means, 16 GB, 32GB or more

2) After making image on USB flash drive, how to reinstall window 8. Means, this can done by selecting boot up from USB flash drive from bios or need some other procedure

3) What about drive partition. Current I have only one partitioned. Can I partitioned the drive without formatting the drive or reinstalling win 8?

4) Also, whether I would be able  to partition the drive when I will try to reinstall win 8 from USB flash where I have made the image?

5) USB flash drive is not reliable source for retention of backup. After making image of win 8 in USB flash drive, It would be ok that I would copy USB flash drive to external hardware drive or in other PC and whenever need again copy from PC to USB flash and then reinstall win 8?

In reading reviews, Minecraft and Battlefield perform fine.  If my son also plays League of Legends, is the Inspiron 17 going to hold it's own?  (Without me having to spend another $500 for the XPS family).  Since this is a laptop for school as well, and he is hard on his laptops, don't post :) if you want me to get him a Alienware.  Ain't gonna happen!!

I got a question. My laptop is still under warranty, but i lost my receipt :( but i still have my monthly payments in my bank history, Is there ANY way i can get a replacement for my broken one? :( I gave it for warranty 4 times already i think and it still comes back and in a week or so it starts acting bad again. Like overheating(sometimes i need to plug in a cooling pad so i don't hurt my hand). I think other issues are irrelevant due to overheating. I think everything was replaced in this thing except of screen :( and it still comes back and overheats! If there is any possible way i can get help here with replacing it even for a bit worse but more stable model i would be SO happy! I can't even play League of Legends because 15min ingame it starts to burst flames and fps drops to 10-15... I can't afford a new laptop and my warranty is ending soon and i just ended my payments for it...

HI,

As in subject: after updating BIOS on Inspiron 7720 to the latest version (http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/uk/en/ukbsdt1/DriverDetails/Product/inspiron-17r-se-7720?driverId=FJY72&osCode=W864&fileId=3290558924&languageCode=en&categoryId=BI) I get instant black screen. Everything was done as it shoul, no programs running, everything closed, exe file was ran as admin. The previous version was A15. The only conrol which is on is power. The system it was ran from is Windows 8.1x64 (Dell OEM).

Does anyone has any idea how to solve this problem.
