When pressing the power button the laptop begins to boot (all the indicator lights cycle and I hear the optical drive start) but the laptop then shuts off after ~3-4 seconds. I never even get to the Dell screen. I have tried to run the LCD BIST by turning the computer on while pressing the <D> key and I get the four color sequence. I then tried to run the PSA diagnostics by holding <Fn> and powering on the laptop. However, it never goes through any diagnostics. It just boots up as previously described. I'm assuming I have a hardware problem but I'm not sure how to determine what's wrong. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Where are the hard drive drivers
I am trying to reinstall Win 7 home premium on my 14z laptop. I get to the screen where it asks "Where do you want to install Windows?", but it says "No drives were found. Click Load Driver to provide a mass storage driver for installation." So my question is, where are those drivers? I have the Installation disk, and a Resource_CD disk. And I have access to a Boot (X:) drive, but I don't know where the hard drive drivers might be. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Dell Latitude D830
Hello!!
I have Dell latitute D830 notebook. I installed Window 7 32bit. Works fine on this laptop.
Tried to connected external monitor and Issue is--
I am not able to connect external monitor. I could not see dual display in "display setting section" It seem that there is no driver. Also on Dell support page (drivers and download ) there is no Window 7 selection for "operating system" drop down section.
I tried "nVidia Quadro NVS 135M, Quadro NVS 140M, v.179.24 XP32, A09 (Driver)" but then as soon as I installed notebook started restarting automatically.
Please suggest which driver will work for dual display.

Touchscreen not working
First off, if anyone is reading this and considering buying a Dell laptop, I suggest you reconsider. Their customer service department is truly the worst that I've ever dealt with. But maybe there are some non-Dell employees reading this who can help me...
My touchscreen stopped working a week after I bought my Inspiron 17 7737. For a while it only worked after a restart, but stopped working once the computer slept and woke up. Now it doesn't work at all.
I have also been getting a recurring error message, "USB device not recognized" as though I am repeatedly trying to connect a new device.
I don't know much about hardware but it seems as if the computer is reading the touchsceeen input as a USB device and not recognizing it.
I have done a full system reboot, reset BIOS, downloaded all Microsoft updates. Still no luck.
Has anyone else had this problem? I imagine there must be a simple fix.

How to order the Win7 OEM install DVD?
I got a new hard drive for my N7110. Either the current hard drive is failing (as indicated by diagnostics) or it has a really nasty malware. I have a brand new drive want to do a clean install on it. I have the dell drivers and utilities DVD but not the windows install DVD. How do I get one?

I Having Some Problem's ;(
I hope someone can help me or tell me what i need to do.
I have recently brought a Alienware 17 ( New one ) , and i'm in love with it. this just started happening today. when i click to open something anything to be honest ( for example Google Chrome ) my screen randomly goes black , then fades into white then back to normal. i was wondering is there i way i can fix this or, do i need to update something. I just want to get back into gaming without this random annoying screen problem. so if anyone knows that would be awesome to help me out.

I'm having a problem with certain keys not working on my laptop, One of the solutions I've seen is to delete the driver and re-install. However, There are drivers displayed in the device manager. How do I know which one to uninstall? Do I uninstall all of them?

XPS m1210 Laptop Booting to Black Screen :(
Hello all!
I have had my Dell XPS M1210 laptop for around 6 years now. I bought it new from Dell and even had Dell upgrade it right away. It has been working like a charm until about a month ago.
I was using it as normal. Shut it down. Went back later to use it again and it would only boot to a black screen. I tried a few more times and it finally booted normal again. I used it for about 30 min and the screen went dark again. :(
I tried booting to the BIOS and to Safe Mode, but there is no way for me to see the screen when doing so.
I have extensive experience with putting computers together and fixing issues, but this one is puzzling me so far. I thought the problem might be the backlight, although mine looks like it is in good shape. I am still thinking this may be the case.
I can tell the computer is still working based on the activity with the DVD and hard drive lights when booting it.
Any suggestions before I try replacing the backlight?

Battery won't charge on old studio 1555 but will run off AC adaptor without battery
So my laptop randomly stopped being able to be charged. I thought it was a problem with the battery because the laptop will run off of just the AC adapter plug with the battery removed. So I ordered a new AC adapter and new battery and it still won't charge the battery even though this new battery seems to work fine. The light on the side of the laptop that usually lights up when it is plugged in does not light up anymore. It does seem to keep the battery from discharging, but doens't actively charge it. Also, when running BIOS it says "none" under AC adapter type. Any ideas???

Hi, I could really use some help, my laptop battery status is at 0% and its staying on with the adapter plugged in, and the battery status says its plugged in but not charging, can someone please help me! I have a lot of schoolwork I need to get done, and I called and they said the couldn't get the guy to call me in about 3 days, then it would be another 3 days for him to get out here, I dont have that much time!

INSPIRON 3521 - FAN CONTROL PROBLEMS
TO THE BIOS DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT ATTENTION
Hi, I just bought an INSPIRON 3521 Base using Windows 8 x 64 bit with BIOS A05.
The problem is that when the fan turns on (CPU temperature 50-52°C and fan speed 5400 rpm) it doesn't tourn off anymore, even when there is no high system load (just internet explorer opened) and the temperature is below 40°C (32-38°C).
Could someone find a solution?

Dell Studio 17/1749 Light Blinks 3 Times but no Post
I just replaced the motherboard with a new one in this laptop and when I plug in the power the light blinks 3 times but the machine will not turn on. I have checked all connections, verified the correct voltage of power is going into the jack and to the motherboard. I have reseated the memory too. Any other suggestions?

Airplane mode button not working. Any help, please? First time dell user.

I am have recently bought a dell inspiron 15 7000 series laptop. Its only been a month that I have been using it. Everything was fine but my airplane mode button (the button beside F12 and PrtScr which are working fine) stopped working. Any help? Every other buttons on the button row is fully functional so I fear its not a keyboard matrix problem?

E1505 with T7200 runs 4gb ram (3.24 available) in win8.1 64bit without a hitch
I bought this old laptop in 2006, and just recently it had begun to slow down in a major way. It had a meager 1gb ram, and paging to the 5400rpm hard drive (that was getting awfully full) had me waiting in frustration most of the time.
Adding more ram by itself would have been a big boost, but while I was at it, I thought I'd splurge a bit.
The 4gb ram is some no name cheap set of 2x2gb sticks. From my perusings, this laptop will run 4gb just fine (yes, you lose about 770mb because of chipset limitations, that 64 bit OS does not remedy), and the only ram to avoid seems to be kingston value ram.
I also got a pretty nice deal on a Mushkin chronos deluxe 240gb SSD that plugs right in, and works out of the box.
Installing windows 8.1 on a clean drive took about 15 minutes. The only drivers that needed a little attention were the touch pad, and the ricoh driver.
The ATI x1300 was a little harder, but after modding 10.2 catalyst drivers with mobility modder, it is all done.
Boot time from pressing the power button is 14 seconds, and that includes logging in with a password (automatically though)
I find it hard to believe that my almost 8 year old laptop is now running as a modern machine.

Trouble with Inspiron 9300 laptop
Hi,
I am having a problem with my dell inspiron 9300 laptop. The fan is constantly running on high from the moment I turn the computer on. The computer seems sluggish and slow and the CPU usage is all over the place. The system idle process is taking up 92 percent right now. It just started doing this the other morning when I cut it on. I have tried all the normal things such as a boot time virus scan, spyware scan, and scanning the registry for problems. I also tried blowing the fans and vents out with canned air, but there was no dust buildup. I tried to use the dell diagnostic utility on computer bootup, but when I click on "test fan" it shuts the computer off. The cpu temp stays at a constant 185 degrees Fahrenheitaccording to monitoring program. Can any help me figure out what this can be?

the cursor on my Inspiron N5110 has been behaving erratically.
A tech person suggested I disable the touchpad and use a mouse instead. When that didn't work, He then said to disable the touchpad. I can't do that on this computer. I even tried uninstalling it. It still continues to function. The only thing I can disable is the mouse. What else can I try?

Originally, my xps comes without a backlit keyboard. I would like to upgrade to a backlit keyboard. I know there is a second ribbon cable on the backlit keyboard and before I purchase one I just want to be 100% sure that my motherboard has a slot for it.

Dell Inspiron N5010 Minimum CPU temperature to run a fan? (Problem I need to slove)
HI i recently bought N5010 i5, ATI HD, 4GB, because of my bios failure i got a new motherboard replace due to my warranty. I saw my laptop being opened and installed new motherboard but i noticed that, they did not put thermal paste in the cpu. first time the laptop shutdown due to overheating and again they put some thermal compound (old left residue from ATI Chip) and now it runs smoothly.
PROBLEM IS THE COOLING FAN SPINS IF THE TEMP OF CPU IS JUST 20c. I NEED TO KNOW WHAT ARE THE RIGHT CPU TEMPERATURES TO GET THE COOLING FAN TO SPIN. DO I HAVE TO REAPPLY NEW THERMAL PASTE? PLEASE GIVE ME SOME INFORMATION ABOUT THE CPU TEMPERATURES AND FAN BEING STARTED IN DIFFERENT TEMPERATURES.

Laptop does not wake up from sleep + no bluetooth.
I recently purchased a Dell Inspiron 3537, and for the first few week or so it worked perfectly. But then I made the mistake of updating to windows 8.1. My first problem, where my computer does not wake up, may have occured prior to 8.1, as I shut down my laptop most of the time prior to 8.1. When I try to wake up my computer from sleep or hibernate, it appears to do something (the lighting changes), then just sits there with a black screen. I then have to hard restart. I have already turned off the fast startup option, and run the power troubleshooter, as I have seen suggested for this issue in my googleing for a solution. My bluetooth stopped working right after my update to 8.1. It could find and pair to a bluetooth headset I own, but immediatly disconnects, never connecting for more than a few seconds. I removed and reistalled the windows 8.1 bluetooth driver (have already updated all drivers for windows 8.1, in hope to fix this issue) and now it refuses to even notice my headset, which I often use with my ipod, so the headset is not the issue. In device manager, it no longer shows the 1705 bluetooth adapter, instead showing a generic one. My wifi is working fine though, which is a bit strange, seeing as the wireless and bluetooth drivers come together, and the 1705 dell wireless adapter is showing up fine. No little yellow tringles have ever shown up, even when the 1705 bluetooth adapter was clearly visible, as I have seen in other posts. Any help would be appreciated. Also, my laptop is not the touchscreen model, despite what my service tag keeps telling me, if that makes a difference. Has i7, 8gb ram, switchable graphics, (intel intergrated and amd 8850), if there are any other relevents specs, please let me know. Thanks for any help that you can give.
