Has someone noticed ghost images (screen burn-in) on Dell XPS 12 Duo?
I recently noticed ghost images on my Dell XPS 12 Duo. If a bright image on dark background stays on the screen for a couple of minutes and then I switch to somewhat dark background I can clearly see the previous image on the screen for some time before it fades away. Once I noticed it I started spotting even more subtle ghost images. I even managed to capture it in a picture with a low-end digital camera - http://imgur.com/a/RIYff (notice the tray icons clearly seen in the Win 8 start screen and even the facebook ad is visible). It is far more clear when you look at the actual screen and not on a picture. I already arranged replacement laptop (as I had other issues with this one) but yesterday I read news about mass defects in Apple's Retina MacBooks ( http://www.ibtimes.com/print/macbook-pro-retina-display-problems-apple-faces-class-action-suit-ghosting-issue-1129939 ) with practically the same issue. Now I wonder if it is possible that all Dell XPS 12 Duo screens have this problem.
So anyone else seeing this on his machine?

Intel SSD 530 and L702x BIOS issue?
I recently replaced the drive in my L702x with an Intel SSD 530. The system is set up to dual boot Linux and Windows 7.
Since the upgrade, whenever the laptop comes out of sleep mode (in both Windows and Linux) it will quickly crash/freeze the OS. Holding down the power button for a few seconds powers it off, but then when turning the power back on the drive is not detected! I have to unplug everything and remove the battery for a few moments before trying again to get the drive detected.
I have updated the firmware on the SSD itself to DC32, and my laptop is on the A19 BIOS released in 2012.
Is there something else I need to set in the BIOS to get this SSD to work with this laptop? Since the problem is on both Windows and Linux, I know it's not an OS issue.

Precision M4700 Restore problems
I have a Dell Precision M4700. I deleted the main windows partition when reinstalling Windows 7 Pro 64-bit from CD. Now I cannot access the recovery image to restore Windows. From what I've been reading, it is because I deleted the custom Dell MBR which would have allowed me to use the Ctrl + F11 command to start the recovery. The recovery partition still exists and is untouched. I tried to follow the instructions on (http://www.goodells.net/dellrestore), however I could not get DSRFIX to work. I have a suspicion it is because the recovery partition is an NTFS partition, not a FAT32 partition. So two questions:
1) Ideally I would be able to restore the laptop to Dell factory state. Is there any way I can add the custom Dell MBR back to the partition and use the Ctrl + F11 command?
2) If there is no fix for the above, is there a way I can access the image and is there a program I can use to restore it to the master partition.

New HDD not detected on Dell Inspiron 1525.
Hello,
I have a Dell Inspiron 1525, recently I bought WD5000LPVT HDD to replace WD1600BEVT.
After replacing new drive my laptop does not detect WD5000LPVT at all, However I have fixed it inside other HP laptop and installed XP which is working fine,
I already have searched forums with inspiron 1525 and WD5000LPVT but did not yeild any results.
also have tried changing the ATA and AHCI modes, did not work.
My Inspiron 1525 does not detect WD5000LPVT, while working fine with WD1600BEVT, please help me.
My BIOS version is A13.
Any help in this regard is highly appreciated.

Dell Inspiro 7720 R17 SE Overheating constantly.
Hello, I've had this laptop for a while now and from first day it reached high temps but I thought it was normal a lot of people seemed to be having same temperatures but now playing through older games.. and paying closer eye to the temps, I noticed that no matter what game I play the gpu and cpu temp will eventually reach 90 + degrees... and doesn't matter on what settings as well.
In comparison : Bioshock infinite on High settings reaches 90 degrees on both
League of legends at lowest settings reaches 90 degrees
Age of mythology (Very old title with very low demands) can also reach 90 degrees
So no matter what game I play as long as I play it for a while it will reach 90 degrees + The only difference is the speed it reaches those temps.
I was thinking, would it be possible that someone messed up the thermal paste and it needs re-doing?

Intel Core I7 3630 QM
Nvidia 650M DDR5
8GB of ram
2 HDDs 1 TB each

Dell Inspiron 3537, few problems
Hi.
I have a Dell Inspiron 3537 few weeks old. Originaly was Win8, but I update it to Win8.1.
After I registered laptop, next step was to partition my C: partition on two parts, partition C (OS), and D (Data). After that I successfully installed all programs I need. And after few days problems started with few BSoD. There are few problems and I will explain all of them.
My Dell checkup "Blue screen troubleshooter" reporting every few days one or more BSoD with explanation:
"The unknown driver (C:Windows/system32/drivers/atikmdag.sys) appears to have caused a system crash. Complete the tasks below to help prevent unexpected shutdowns in the future."
On same My Dell checkup I try to run "PC Checkup", and everything appear OK, no problems reported. Custom scan on only ATI video card (ATI Radeon HD8850), and result is "Passed".
I also run build in DELL diagnostics (Boot menu) and there was no errors, and also Dell online diagnostics and everything was fine.
I try to install new driver from DELL website (AMD Radeon HD 8850M driver 13.151.0.0), but during installation, screen blinked few times and then went off. I thought that this is OK since video driver was installing. I left Laptop for one hour to "finish installation" but noting happened. I turned off laptop by pressing ON/OFF button for 5 sec, but after that laptop don't want to restart. Here I noticed other problem I will share with you in the moment. Fortunately, I installed Acronis True Image 2014 so I was able to restore a system. BTW, same driver version was already installed acording to "MSINFO32).
Now, my system is running, I can still see BSoD warning in My Dell Checkup, but actually I don't actually see this BSoD. Strange.
If I right click on desktop and then click on "Graphics Property" or "Configure switchable graphics" I get this warning:
Second problem. During my laptop beforehand explained "BLACKOUT", I tried to use Windows Recovery. I tried "Refresh" and "Reinstall" and both times I got message:
"Could not find the recovery environment. Insert your Windows installation or recovery media, and restart your PC with the media".
If I try to use "Dell Backup and Recovery", I got message:
"Dell Backup and Recovery has not been able to detect the recovery Partition on this computer. It may be missing or corrupted. To recover your computer to the original factory state and restore the Recovery partition, please use your System Recovery Disc." etc...etc...
I don't have any of this discs coz OS was preinstaled. So, basically I can't use any facilities to recover my laptop because I don't have factory recovery media or recovery disc. Fortunately I'm using Acronis, but that's not a point. I want something to recover my system to original, factory state.
Actually, Windows Restore facilities are OK and I can restore to some point I created.
BTW, my hard drive is partitioned on 7 partitions. Originally there were 6 partitions with huge C: partition. I split this one on two.
And also, since this BSoD is likely caused by video driver, how can I safely update this driver. As explained before, after first try I had disaster. Can I try to install new driver for AMD Radeon HD 8850M from ATI site?
Sorry for so long question. If there are any additional questions I will be more than happy to answer them.

Latitude XT2 flashes blue lights at F4 and F5 and also the Caps lock tab
Please help me I have this unit and for what ever reason the service tag number has been removed and I can not get this laptop to load up. The start button lights and the fan runs then after 2 minutes the F4,F5, Caps Lock tab flashes a Blue Light. I have tried all day today to get help from Dell but they wont help me because I can not produce the sercive tag #.. I have tried the internet fix of pushing and holding the F12 button the F2 button and the control alt delete button ect. Nothing works. If anyone knows what I can do to reboot my laptop I realy would appreciate the help.

Screen Capture in Windows 8 Metro / Dell XPS 12
I'm trying to capture screen images in Windows 8 (Metro) and I've read several things saying that you can do it with (Windows Key + Print Screen) but it doesn't seem to work. I've noticed that Print Screen is on the same key as a button called Insert, so I'm wondering if that's why it doesn't work. I've tried holding shift and control to see if it makes a difference, but still can't do it.
I wish I could use the snipping tool in Metro, but it only seems to work in desktop mode. Is there a way to use the snipping tool in Metro?

Vostro 3550 Digital Persona Fingerprint Reader software incompatible with Windows 8
I just downloaded the newly released Windows 8 iso and ran the compatibility test. All of the hardware is supported in some manner although there is mention of getting new drivers from Dell. However, the fingerprint reader is listed as incompatible with Windows 8. I went to Digital Persona's home page and they no longer support consumer products. Bottom line is, I bout a machine from Dell that's less than 2 years old and is loaded with a piece of software that is no longer supported by the vendor. Does anyone have any suggestions on alternative software that will allow the fingerprint reader to function with Windows 8?

XPS 18 "Ghost Clicking" Problem
I just purchased the Dell XPS 18 and right out of the box noticed a very bizarre "Ghost Clicking" issue. When the touchscreen is enabled the computer will randomly "click" various places on the screen with a mind of its own.
Usually it clicks in about the same place because it usually clicks the same bookmark in my browser, but the issue happens in every application.
When I disable the touchscreen the problem goes away and what is very weird is that the issue specifically seems to only happen with the touchscreen enabled when the computer is on the charging stand . . . When I lay it down flat on my desk (not on the charging stand) and use the keyboard and mouse, the issue doesn't seem to happen.
Any ideas Dell engineers? I have already spoken with support. I have updated my drivers, the OS, the BIOS, and even installed a "touch screen patch" that I was very hopeful would solve the problem, but nothing has worked!

hard and software issues
Hello,
first problem
I have noticed that after startup sometimes my screen turns black, after moving or clicking my mouse it goes back to normal.
Atleast for a couple of seconds, my screen keeps turning black.
second problem
when running a program it will suddenly minimalize without reason. The problem stops eventually, but it can take 5min or 3hours before acting normal.
third problem
My laptop is plugged in and the battery icon says, plugged in battery not charging.
Alienware M17x-R4
I have the latest drivers and rebooting doesn't solve the problems.
hopefully a tech can help me sort this out

Installation Location - D600 True Mobile 300 Card
I've got a D600 without the on board Bluetooth card. I see that they can be purchased for very small amount of $$$, but I'm not sure where the card is installed. I know where the compartment for the WLAN mini-PCI card is and how to access it, but I'm not sure where the True Mobile 300 Card installs. I'm pretty adept at repairs and self-installs (I've disassembled this D600 about a half-dozen times . . ), so a general "pointing to" location will be a big help. Thanks!

Dell Vostro 1700 - does not start/ No LED (after a short blink)
Dear Experts,
I have a Dell vostro 1700. few days back I noticed that when I connect my power adapter the battery indicator (3rd led on the right) blinks for a moment and then there is no indication/ light anywhere..then the main power button does not work. but I was able to switch my laptop on by pressing the multimedia-home button and work normally.... but since today, even that button does not work... so, now my laptop is not able to be started..I have tried with/ without battery, but no use. after the initial blink of the LED, there seems to be no indication that the laptop is powered..pls suggest a solution.

Recovery from disc
I made a set of recovery discs when I bought my studio xps 1647 with Win7.
My hdd crashed recently and now I got it replaced and installed trial version of win 8.
How do I install Win 7 in this PC now? ( I am not able to get the recovery screen when i press F8 at start up)
Please help ASAP.

BackLit Keyboard
I have got an Inspiron SE 7720. Dell page informs that a backlit keyboard is standard, but when i bought my laptop NO backlit keyboard.
When i tried to contact DELL_GREECE and receive some answers they were extremely rude and they wanted me to pay for an extra backlit keyboard.
I am 20 years DELL customer with 4 laptops from DELL and i never thought that i would have this kind of behaviour fron customer support
I need some plain and clear answers. Why my Inspiron SE 7720 has not a standard backlit keyboard as your webpage and DELL-GREECE webpage informs

Dell XPS 12 - Switch on Computer while lid is closed
I use my laptop as a normal desktop machine (with additional display and keyboard). Due to the fact that the computer is stored in a small slot below the desktop, I want to switch on the computer while the lid is completely closed. The new XPS 12 doesn't work that way, the lid must be lifted an inch or so. Any idea? Bios? Under power settings I can only determine what should happen when I close the lid, I found nothing to change the behave while turning on the computer.
