XPS 13 9365 - Disable Wifi when docked

$

Hello

I am trying to disable the WiFi on my XPS 13 9365 when docked. I prefer to use the Wired connection. I cannot find a setting / option to allow this. I tried updating my drivers via the Dell Command Update. I downloaded the Intel ProSET driver / utility from Intel for this adapter (but it wants me to import a profile, which i cannot seem to find). Went through the BIOS to see if there was an option (like the older latitudes).

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank You.

Hey there,

I have a Dell XPS 15 9560, which has a dedicated graphics card. Currently I have a dell docking station that utilizes DisplayLink, and therefore I cannot use my graphics cards when the dock is connected.

Does anyone know of any USB C or Thunderbolt 3 docking stations that would allow me to utilize my GPU?

XPS 13 9360 Heat Issues

I recently bought an XPS 13 and I'm experiencing a lot of heat for some reason. Since it is new, I doubt it's a problem due to dust blocking the air intakes. At idle, it runs at around 40C which is 15-20C above ambient, and right after boot up, on low loads (30%), the temperature reaches up to 101C which is definitely not ideal. Watching YouTube can also bump it up to 99C.

I spent a large amount of money on an Alienware 18. It shipped Febuary 16. About a week ago the motherboard died. Parts and accessories sales says that the part is no longer available. But if I wanted to upgrade I could talk to tech support. How is I that they do not stock parts? I paid almost $4000 for this laptop.

Dell L421X Battery 3rd Party Battery fix?

$

Hi Guys,

I have a dell L421X with a dead battery. Called up Dell and they said they didnt have stock for this battery anymore.

Thought to myself, I will just get a 3rd party battery and call it a day. The system boots but says that the battery cannot be identified. In windows it says plugged in , not charging. 63%.

As I understand it Dell deliberately denies 3rd party batteries from charging. But if they cannot even provide me a replacement, what choice do I have? Throw away a good laptop that is 5 years old?

Things I have tried:

Bios update to A16.
Remove battery and drain any remaining battery (20 Seconds on Power Button)
2 Different 3rd Party Batteries.
AC adapter is Original and is fine as per BIOS reading.

So having said all of this is there anyone that knows of a Fix for 3rd party Batteries?

Tried a vhbw battery and a "Genuine" Dell batteries from ebay.

E5580 + D6000 = bad perfomance

So the company decied to invest in this combination.

First: No output on HDMI.
Today after a week it just started to work.

Main problem:
Performance over the D6000 dock is horrible.
Youtube lags. Video lags, RDP lags.
Scrolling down a page lags.

Should it really be that bad performance?
Yes, latest drivers, BIOS and so on.

Dual 4k monitor on Dell Precision 5510 / 5520, which HUB ?

Hi guys.

I have a Precision 5510 work station laptop, where I have struggeled with getting my two 4k monitors running on 4k / 60 Hz. The HDMI port does only support 4k / 30 Hz, which is unbearable.

I now have a Plugable thunderbolt 3 hub, which gives me one DP port so I can run 4k / 60 Hz.

Do any of you have any tips on which Thunderbolt 3 hub that can pull off 2 x 4k / 60 Hz monitors?

My colleague is looking on the 5520 laptop, but if it can run what we mean is the future standard (2x4k 60Hz monitors), we might go for another brand.

I would prefer a hub, so we only need to unplug the carger and TB3 cable.

I have found this adapter, which may be plugged in the TB3 port of a TB3 hub, but that will be pretty messy.

Any other tips?

Laptop freezes when not plugged in with HDMI cable to external monitor

Hello all,

I have a question about my laptop (Dell Latitude 7480). My laptop randomly freezes after starting the laptop. It takes around 1-5 minutes to freeze, and I can't do anything about it. After a while, I found out that if I'm not plugging the laptop to an external monitor through the HDMI cable, it will cause this happen, but if i plugged it in, it works perfectly fine.

Has anyone facing this issues and fixed it in the past?. This issue is really annoyed me very much because I cannot work without an external monitor.

My guess is that something happened with my graphic card? Do I need to change the laptop or is there any other way to fix it?

Thank you very much for your answer, very appreciated.

I bought a second hand XPS this Oct. After that I faced several times of random shutting down. I have changed the CMOS battery and main battery but it doesn't make anything change. I also change the system cooling policy into active and change the thermal management into cool but the problem still exist. In the Power log of BIOS it shows "ASF2 FORCE OFF", The BIOS is 1.5.1 and I have updated the latest IME. Is there anyone can help me?

XPS 15-9550 Charging issue

In the past week, I have had problems with charging.  When I put charge cord into the small hole on the side of the computer the computer will say no charge but plugged in but the little green light to indicate it is charging will not come on.

Now the small light on the cord I plug in is green so it looks like it is working.

When I charge the light on the computer goes on for maybe 3-5 seconds then goes out.  I have to keep plugging the charger cord into the computer over and over again until the green light on the computer stays on and it starts to charge.  Is it the cord?  Or is it the small hole I plug it into that will not accept it.  I assume it is loose or something.  I hate having to unplug and plug it again and again- I fear I will break someting?

As you can tell I am a novice.  I bought the thing in 8-2016.  Please help. thanks in advance

Inspiron 157548 - Won't boot first time

Hi, problem started about three weeks ago. If you press the start button, the power button light switches on with the light just below the mouse pad. The mouse pad light then goes out and the power button light stays on but nothing happens. if you hold the power button to switch off, then attempt again it worked fine.

Then last week it became 5 attempts, now its 9.

The system works fine once it has booted, and has been able to restart without a problem. Temperature doesn't seem to make any difference.

Has anyone experience this and is there a known fix/problem?

Thanks :)

Inspiron 15 7000 Series 7559 attempting bios update get "Running on an unsupported system" error

I'm keen to always keep up-to-date on all drivers/firmware on all of my machines.  I just picked up this notebook on cyber monday and let all the automatic updates go on and noticed that bios is currently 1.2.0 while 1.2.4 is available.  When I try to install it, I get a "Running on an unsupported system" message.  I went and downloaded each of the other bios(1.2.1 etc) to see if it required the previous one to upgrade from, but even 1.2.1 gives me the same error.

The service tag is correct for the download page(at least looking at system configuration everything is what I purchased).  What can I do to get current?  Considering "system stability" is the primary listing for the bios updates, I kind of want them.

Inspiron 15 7559 i7 7700HQ, 16GB ram, GTX 1060(MaxQ) 256GB SSD, 1TB HHD, FHD display, Windows 10 Home 16299.125. if it makes any difference.

Inspiron 17R SE Power Connector

Can anyone tell me the correct 'technical specification' for the plug that connects the PSU to the back of the Inspiron (and several other models)?      I have now trashed the second PSU - the wire breaks close to where it connects to the laptop - with the result that one of the leads will not connect so although the laptop runs on mains it will not charge.

I am looking to see if I can buy a new solder on connector from Maplins / RS Components etc so that I can fix the lead as the PSU itself is fine and it is clearly a quality issue on the supplied leads.

Thanks.
