Machine: Precision 7720 laptop with i7-7920HQ cpu running Windows 10 with Oracle VirtualBox and Centos 7 linux host. I am getting a segmentation fault when attempting to execute a commercial precompiled program used by quantum chemists, Molpro. The supplier has never had this problem on any other 64 bit Intel processor. The program is compiled by the supplier using Intel compilers. Has anyone had a problem with this or other precompiled programs using this processor under Linux operating systems? Memory checks on this system have not shown a problem.

keys not working on inspiron 11 3147
i had the same problem as so many others...a 1 and nearby keys work sometimes and sometimes they don't . Verified answer is that there is a problem on the motherboard keyboard connector(a hardware issue, and that person said they would never buy from Dell again. The answers from Dell were to troubleshoot BIOS and firmware, which are totally unrelated and do not solve the problem.
I think "never buy from Dell again" was a great answer...since that discussion thread was closed and that was part of the verified answer!!!! Dell did nothing to address this problem that so many people had. I called Dell and was asked to pay about $200 for a new keyboard since my Inspiron 11 was out of warranty, But wow, I only used this product a few times...It was like new!!!! I used this product only a few times after i bought it,
When so many people had the exact same problem, this is a product quality issue... I can't believe that Dell does not look for problems like this in the discussion threads and make it right! If Dell wants to help... let me know!

How to disable USB 3.0
Hi there, I have Alienware 15 laptop previous generation (bought in 07/2015). All devices that I am plugging in are working except mobile phones (iphones, android).
Unfortunately all usb ports are 3.0 and whenever I connect phone device it intermittently disconnects (usually 1-3 seconds period). I find out that there could be a bios configuration to disable usb 3.0, but alienware laptops doesn't have it.
Solutions I've found in the internet:
- Disable usb 3.0 in BIOS can't as BIOS doesn't have that option
- Disable Intel(R) USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller in Device Manager. Also didn't help, as it is disconnecting device fully. But some devices are working such as usb mouse.
- Updated power options to Disable for USB selective suspend setting. Didn't solve the problem
- Tried to connect each of the port (4 ports available) and connect and restart.
I have tested windows 8.1 and 10, but when I had windows 7 it worked only before first restart and during that time my external HDD led was showing that it is working on usb2.0 configuration.
Note that I have connected same phones (iphone 4s, samsung s4, one plus 5) with same cables to other computers and they've work perfectly. (other computers with Windows 7,10, Lubuntu, Ubuntu, MacOS)
Just curios if any owners of Alienware 15" with Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4720HQ Processor had any similar issues and resolved them.

Bluetooth of My Laptop Dell Latitude E5410 is not working..
I have just purchased Laptop Dell Latitude E5410 but Bluetooth device of my System is not working .. I have visited almost 100 sites but can't find solution to turn it on. My Laptop have clear symbols of Wireless connection and Bluetooth above Key F1.. Wireless Network On/Off button also exists in my laptop but there is no Button to turn on Bluetooth. Please help me in this regard.

Dell Latitude 630 - neu aufsetzen
Ich bin in den Besitz eine Dell Latitude 630 gekommen. Irgendwelche CD waren nicht dabei Diesen möchte ich für einen Schüler , der dem Precariat angehört und den ich betreue, herrichten. Das Notebook läuft mit XP/SP3. Ich habe noch eine alte Lizenz und eine CD XP/SP2 und möchte das Notebook neu aufsetzen. Ich bin schon etwas älter, habe dass aber vor Jahren schon mal für meine Tochter gemacht. Mein Plan ist, eine vorhanden HDD Seagate ST500LM021 einzubauen, den 2 MB Speicher auf 4 MB zu erweitern und eben wieder XP/SP3 zu installieren.
Was ist die richtige Vorgehensweise und was ist beachten?

optimum WiFi doesn't show up

I have Inspiron 17R 5737, since a week ago, it doesnt recognize the optimum wifi and it doesnt appear in the available wireless network connection,all other network connection are in the list only optimum is missing, my roomate laptop recognises the optimum wifie just fine, what should I do? i renstall the driver, didnt work, Re installed windows and downloaded the latest driver same issue, there are bunch of other nest works in my connection list no optimum , please help

Inspiron 1750 8GB Memory Upgrade Not Working
I have a Dell Inspiron 1750 Laptop with 4GB installed (2 x 2GB) which is working fine. I bought 2 x 4GB DDR2-6400 800MHz SODIMM,, Micron Technology part number MT16HTF51264HZ-800C1. I installed the two memory chips and the laptop doesn't start, only the white light shows on. No fan, no hard drive running. The screen is blank and then after a couple of minutes you hear four beeps every couple of seconds. What's wrong?
I thought the memory that I bought, MT16HTF51264HZ-800C1, had the exact same specification the the original Dell memory. Did I miss something? (By the way I read that removing the battery and holding down the power button for 30 seconds might solve my problem but that didn't help. The posting never explained what this action would solve.)

Dell XPS15 9560 Hardware issue - SD card reader

Hi, i just got my new Dell XPS 15 and yesterday i went to use the SD card reader for the first time just to find out that it wasn't reading the card. And when i went to extract it, the card was stuck in the slot, so when i got it out the pin connectors inside the slot where bend. And its not a problem with the SD card i used because i use it all the time with my other PC.
What can i do?

Completely lost as to what to do with XPS 13 9350
Hi all. I'm finally completely at a loss. I've been a dell customer for years, but now the customer service I have received is finally putting me off. I just need help, and I don't know what else I can do from here.
Explaining my issue, I have a Dell XPS 13 laptop that has always had issues. It has had a consistent buzzing issue for it's entire lifespan from the internals of the computer. Now, it refuses to charge. The battery health is excellent, as are all other diagnostic tests. I have updated the bios and everything, but it refuses to recognize the AC adapter. This is with a brand new AC dell adapter. I was told early on the issues would subside with updates and that I should not send the system in (this was while I still had warranty). Now that my extended warranty has been out for only a month and a serious problem arises, they tell me I need to pay to send it in and have repairs done. Quite frankly, I don't want to pay more money for a defective unit that has been defective since I purchased it. I LOVE everything about the laptop, but I just want it to work. There is no damage to the unit superficially, and I'm at a loss. I just need some actual help. I've been told there is an issue with the charging port shorting against the bottom chassis. If the repair is just something as easy as that, I would totally have it repaired. But if the problem is a defective motherboard, I can't justify spending another $500 on parts for a defective unit after I just spent $200 on new chargers to try and resolve the issue. AND when I asked about extending my warranty, the agent refused. I'm at a loss.
I know this is a wall of text, but I feel like I was ignored until more money could be dragged out of me. I just want someone to communicate to me what the best option actually is. If I'm now stuck with a defective unit and can't extend my warranty (WHICH IS ONLY OUT BY A MONTH) I would be very upset. I don't feel like I should spend $1300 on a laptop to have it shut down after just over a year.
PLEASE HELP! I LOVE THIS LAPTOP AND JUST WANT TO SEE IT UP AND RUNNING!

Latitude E6420 wireless card upgrade options
I have a Dell Latitude E6420 laptop with an Intel Centrino Advanced N 6205 wireless adapter. In looking up the information on this adapter, it shows this as end of life. What are the possible replacement options that would work with my laptop? Wifi has been quite spotty lately and I am assuming its because of the adapter.

Dell Precision M6500 memory upgrade
precision M6500 spec sheet says it supports upto 8gb DDR3 1600MHz ram. I was wondering if that 8gb can be one 8gb module or does it have to be 2 x 4gb modules? The laptop has 4 DIMM slots available.

Dell Precision 3510 Overheating
My precision 3510 (i7-6700HQ, 512GB SSD, 16GB, AMD ATI Firepro w5130m) is heating. In idle CPU temp around 70-80 celsius and GPU 85 celsius. On load it is up to 90 - 97 celsius degree . When i contacted with Dell support, they told me that by the their policy 102 celsius degree is overheating, so they do not think that i had a problem. But anyway i carried to autorized service for diagnostic. They found that heat sink - is not working correcty and thermal paste dry, so they changed heat sink and applied new thermal paste. Yes, now it is a little bit better, but anyway it is now, on idle 60-70 celsius degree and GPU 70 celsius degree and now i also has some problems with touchpad, it is freeze while i using it. Again i carried it to the service and the engineer told me that they will diagnose the problem with the touchpad, but about the overheating he is said that it is normal operation temperature for these laptop and dell engineers says that just 102 celsius degree is overheating, But i am sure it is not, because i used these laptop for 1 year and i did not have such issue. Also i am have more that 10 year experience with the mobile workstations. I understand that on load temperature can increase up to 70-85 celsiuse degree, may be a little more. But not on idle 60-70 celsius degree. Does anybody have same issue with such configuration? Is it really normal operation temp for these latpop? What can be wrong with it?

Inspiron 5558 touchpad issues

I own an Inspiron 5558. I have this weird issue with a touchpad. Normally, the single tap is equal to a left mouse button single click. However, randomly from time to time, it switches to a mode in which a single tap holds the left mouse button and the only way to let go is to single click a physical touchpad buton. I have installed the latest touchpad drivers. I have also reinstalled Windows but it didn't help. I have noticed that if I log out and log in again, the touchpad works normally again. Also, If I switch user the issue does not exist on another account, but when I come back to my normal Windows account, it behaves weirdly again. Please help, it is really annoying when you relay in a touchpad.

XPS 15 9560 i7 processor limited to 0.80 GHz
Turned on my laptop this morning and noticed it was running really slow.
Checked with Intel XTU to see what the problem was and noticed my laptop was Thermal Throttling and limited to 0.80 GHz.
Called customer support, and after 90 minutes of running diagnostics, re-installing drivers, disabling programs that activate on startup, and reinstalling XTU, the processor is still limited to 0.80 GHz (although XTU no longer says it's thermal throttling).
Support said they'd call back in 24-48 hours, but otherwise don't know how to fix the issue.
I've added a picture of what XTU is showing.
Any ideas on how to fix?

How can I do an update of the bios from A13 to A21 with "Signed Firmware Update is enabled"?
I tried the update in Windows 10 and DOS with nearly all bios versions - but after the reboot the bios update will not be performed.

Dell Latitude E6510 not boot to Hdd
I bought a used Dell for the wife off eBay, came with no Hdd. Booted to bios. Installed a SSd ,inserted a Win 7 32bit and thought that I would install Win and get it going.
The laptop will post, finish bios, then nothing.Screen is grey and not black.
Using the F2 key it'll go into "preparing to enter setup" but takes forever
The F12 key take me into the boot menu,but take forever as well
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated
