Pressed F8 on my XPS 15 and now I have a boat anchor....

Was trying to get to safe mode and used the old key combination.

Has anyone at Dell made any headway on fixing this problem?

From what I've read the only way it can be repaired is by replacing the motherboard.

My warranty is expired but this is pretty clearly a manufacturing defect (why in the world would they have it setup like this).

How much does this repair cost?

Any assistance is appreciated. Sadly I was going to sell it tonight but I was trying to get the cache drive working (rather than being a separate mini solid state.

Does anyone know where to find a guide to the LED flashing codes for an Inspiron 11 3153?  On the Dell support website it appears different machines have different meanings to the flashing LED codes.  Mine is flashing 2 amber then 7 white.  Preboot diagnostics passed clean, as did website hosted diagnostics.

Thanks

Power supply compatibility - Precision M6600 -> Insipiron 7567

My old Precision M6600 gave up the ghost not so long ago, so I replaced it with an Inspiron 7567. The M6600 PSU is much beefier than the Inspiron's - it provides 240 watts as opposed to the Inspiron's 130 watts, but the old PSU's plug looks like it'll fit in the Inspiron. Is it safe to plug the much more powerful M6600 PSU into the Inspiron 7567? I'm just looking to salvage what I can from the M6600, and use the PSU as a spare.

Hi All,

I have Dell XPS 13 bought in 2012, once per several month it just wouldn't start, then after removing the battery and putting it back it works again.

It's due to static electricity on the battery, but question is - how to avoid this?

I've been advised it could be to some Bios issue. Could you please advise?

Thanks,

Anton

Dell Venue Pro 7140 - M.2 cards not compatable?

I have a Dell venue pro 11 7140

it has a 7265 m.2 intel dual band wireless card

I have purchased a 18260NGW wifi bt and wigig card

it fits nicely, and only the 8260 wifi and bt is detected in the windows 10 os.

Is there something limited in the tablet, to not allow it to recorgnise the wigig part of the 18260 card

It does mention wifi/wigi switch in the bios, so its obviously designed with wigig abilities of some kind

please help

Dell Precision M6700 wifi borked

Hello

The wifi on my dell laptop seems to have failed. Intel 6300 card.

I thought it might be a driver or dodgy windows something or other so did a clean install of windows but the same issue persists:

When first starting laptop wifi networks are seen. I try to connect to mine. (Or indeed any) it asks for a password. I enter password. It asks if I want my lappy to be seen on the network, I click on ok, and it immediately says it cannot connect to this network. When I click ok it then clears all networks and says no networks found.

In device manager I can see network adaptors including the 6300 however under WAN miniport (IP) is an alert which states 'windows is still setting up the class configuration for this device code 56)

I do not know if this was the issue before the reinstall of windows.

I am starting to suspect the card is physically knackered. It seated ok etc but any hints and tips here much appreciated.

Must Upgrade Wifi Card

I have an Inspiron N7110, which came with an Intel centrino N 1030 wireless network card. Intel just updated the drivers for the 1030 on all OS's except windows 10. My internet connection goes on and off constantly. I found a pretty short list on intel.com of windows 10 supported drivers:

Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260

Intel® Dual Band Wireless-N 7260

Intel® Wireless-N 7260

Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160

Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265

Intel® Dual Band Wireless-N 7265

Intel® Wireless-N 7265

Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 3165

Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 8260 (64-bit only)

Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265

Intel® Wireless Gigabit 11000

I'm hoping someone knows if any of the above wifi cards would be fit for a replacement of my 1030.

No Dell touchpad settings for my Inspirion 17 7000, so I can't disable palm check.

I'm on a new Dell Inspiron 17 7000 2-in-1 laptop and I'm trying to disable palm check, AKA the setting that disables the touchpad for a few seconds after the keyboard is used. But in mouse settings, there's no Synaptics tab like on other laptops and there's no Dell-specific touchpad settings on the laptop that I can find. I've tried installing a few drivers but they either said they couldn't run on my device or just didn't do anything. I'm at my wit's end here trying to disable palm check.

Dell Inspiron 17R N7110 Crashed

My husbands Dell Inspiron 17R N7110 crashed. There’s no factory reset option available & he’s having difficulty using the reinstall disc that came with the computer. Can we just replace the hard drive to fix the issue? If so what hard drive should I buy & can he just use the install disc that came with the computer? Will he need anything else? Any advice would be greatly appreciated as he’s currently deployed & it’s a terrible time for this issue. TIA!

Random Blue Screens / Shutdowns on new XPS 13 9630

Issue is intermittent. I randomly get critical kernel power failure errors, where the laptop turns off, before rebooting to the dell start up screen where I get a 'please wait'. I then get the 'Windows didn't load correctly' blue recovery screen. Laptop can be be used as normal until the issue happens again.

No issues otherwise. All drivers are up to date. Laptop passes all of Dell's hardware tests.

Potentially problematic programs installed around the time I started noticing this was a reoccurring issue: compiler etc for Haskell and VirtualBox, the latter has been uninstalled.

I haven't yet tried resetting and/ or reinstalling Windows but I don't have the time to reinstall my applications at the moment.

Any advice on what I should do?

Dell Precision M4400 won't power on

Sometimes I press the power button and I see it light up blue for a few seconds and then it switches off. Nothing is shown on the screen. Other times I press the power button, it lights up blue, the fan starts spinning, and then I see a light diagnostic code showing a possible processor failure according to the Dell service manual, and then the laptop switches itself off. If I let it sit plugged in and undisturbed for a few minutes then it might work if I try to switch it on. I can enter the BIOS and see in the log ASF2 Force Off. Also, I can start Windows and it runs OK as long as I don't shutdown or restart the laptop. If I shut it down or restart it then the laptop won't switch back on. What is causing this? How do I fix it?

Dell XPS 9560 or 9550 - LCD Replacement

Hello,

The lcd screen of my Dell XPS 9560 has cracks and I wanted to replace it with new one.

I try to find the parts thru online markets and sometimes I am brought into an option like a screen assembly for Dell XPS 9550.

I checked the specifications of the two models and personally it seems to me that they have no difference in terms of the LCD screen. Now, I want to confirm from the dell experts if the LCD screen for XPS 9550 is compatible and could fit in with my XPS 9560.

Display specifications of my laptop is below:

15.6 inch 16:9, 3840x2160 pixel 282 PPI, 10-point capacitive, IGZO IPS, ID: Sharp SHP1476, Name: LQ156D1, Dell P/N: Y2XND, glossy: yes

Dell Precision M6600 A16 BIOS Problem of Restart

Ever since I updated M6600 to BIOS A16 this past summer of 2017, I can't restart from any OS. Rebuilding Windows 7/10 from scratch does no good. Nothing in BIOS indicates a setting that would affect this. Any ideas?

Thanks
