Performance drop when connecting to TV (HDMI)

Hi Dell Community.
I'm having an issue with my Dell Laptop (Inspiron 7567).

I'm getting big performance drops in games when connecting to my TV (direct connection over HDMI).
Taxing scenes that would give me 55FPS when playing on my Laptop Screen are now dropping to 30-35fps and I have no idea what's causing it. As far as I know there shouldn't be such massive drops just by using an external monitor.

I've asked in other places and gotten some suggestions but none that has helped me solve the issue:
- The games are running at 1080p on both my laptop screen and my TV so It's not a resolution difference causing the issues
- I've set the image to only display on the secondary monitor. So it's not mirroring it on the laptop screen.
- I've made sure it's the dedicated GTX1050ti running the games and not the integrated graphics card when using my TV (by adjusting the global settings in the Nvidia control panel)
- All the drivers are up to date

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Sound Issues Dell TB16.

I have a XPS15 9560 and a pair of 2.1 speakers Dell AE415.

If they are connected to the laptop  I can choose an audio profile from Audiomaxx software. There isn't a specific profile for the AE415 speakers but I use the profile for AY410 and they work fine, subwoofer included.

Today I bought a Dell TB16 and I'm very happy except that when the speakers are connected to the dock, the are no AudioMaxx profiles available "current default playback device is not supported"...

The sound is clear but the subwoofer doesnt work...

Laptop and dock drivers are up to date.

Any ideas?

Latitude 7480 Security Lock

I ordered the Kensington wedge lock part no N17 combination for the 7480.  The lock is lose and you can actually pull it off easily.  I read that the Noble wedge lock is the same thing.  There seem to be a problem with the lock design on the 7480 since it's not compatible with two different manufacturers.  Does anyone have a solution for this?  I miss the T-bar security lock - it's much better than this wedge ***.

Inspiron 15 3552 won't charge

Just as the topic title states.

I have a problem with my laptop not being able to charge. After opening it and discovering one of the wires on the charger jack had come off I ordered a replacement and put it in, only it didn't work. So I ordered another one and just put that in and it still won't charge so now I'm concerned it's a motherboard problem. Everything else on the computer works fine and thus far I have run two hardware tests (No problems reported) and even used two different chargers.

Is there anything else I can try?

Dell Inspiron 15 7000 Gaming (7567) Windows 10 Professional -

Has anyone experienced the following issue?

Running on battery only, battery at 95%, screen goes dark and laptop appears to go to sleep.
Close lid, open lid, laptop wakes up and presents the login screen.  However, all alphanumeric keys are not responding so cannot type in login pin or password.  However, mouse still working and "Enter" keys still work.

There is no way to login. Even clicking on the shutdown icon doesn't work. Have to physically press the power button to shutdown and then power on again.

Dell Vostro 1700 - Why Torture Yourself

I have a Dell Vostro 1700 laptop (why?) running Vista 32bit... for unknown reasons suddenly the screen turned blue said something about a bad kernal and then went black. After millions of attempts I finally got it running in safe mode and moved everything off it that I needed. Next I tried to reinstall with the disc I thought came with it(???).

But after going through all that reinstall (numerous crashes/unplugs/lift lid/plug back in/push button = millions of times, etc.) it seemed to have reinstalled only to tell me that the version disc is not for this machine. What? = BULL

However, I know I have heard of discs having like built-in counters on them that won't allow you to use them after a certain number of times. Is that what is going on here? I have used this disc to fix/reinstall a few times but I doubt more than twice (2) unless they count everytime you tried it and were unsuccessful. My wife doesn't think I'm doing much. Pfft...

Hi,

I factory restored my XPS 15 9560 & forgot that there's only 1 partition from the original factory HDD so now ended up with 1 partition (C:) & all my files, documents in (D:) are gone. Is there any way to recover them? I've tried EaseUS but not successful. Is it possible to retrieve those files back? If so how?

Really desperate to get those files. Please help anyone.

Thanks.

Inspiron 15 Gaming 7567 Touchpad under Linux causes pointer to jump intermittently

I've searched on the forums for this but don't see an issue that seems the same.

I have a new Inspiron 15 Gaming laptop but didn't buy it for gaming. I've installed Linux on it, though I also saw a similar problem when running the Windows 10 OS that came with the laptop before I switched to Linux (don't want to get into a discussion about why I changed - it is more appropriate for me to use Linux as the native system).

I've noticed a few issues with the touchpad but I reckon most are just a case of getting used to it, after many years on completely different laptop. However, one issue I can't figure out is that, from time to time, I'm moving the pointer around and it will jump quite a distance, often right to the lower left of the screen but sometime horizontally left or right. It happens frequently enough (though still, thankfully, rare) to become annoying.

Does anyone have any ideas? I notice DELL have no software for the machine that's specific to Linux, so that channel doesn't seem open. With some other similar issues I've noticed some have reported multiple touchpad devises listed with xinput, but that's not the case with me.

For information, I'm on Linux Mint 18 and have altered very little since installing it a few days ago, apart from regular system updates.

Inspiron 15 7000 Gaming - correct battery?

$

Have just bought a new Inspiron 15 Gaming and noticed that the battery doesn't seem to last nearly as long as the reviews I read. I haven't done a formal check but seem to get only around 4 hours of use, and not particularly hard use (I don't use it for gaming or much in the way of graphics) as it's for business.

Is there any way of checking whether the battery is actually the battery that the configuation says it is? This should be a 451-BBPZ : 74 WHr, 6-Cell Battery (Integrated). I would expect a 74 WHr battery to last a full working day, especially when new. I guess I could take off the bottom cover to check but wondered if there was some other way. There didn't seem to be anything in the BIOS that identifies the battery.

I should add that I'm running Linux.

17-5767 Operating System Loader has no signature

Hi,

Help! I am at the end of my tether here!

My m/c is barely 2 months old. I haven't used it much as I am still working on my old laptop. It went into a longish update a day ago. Today, when the battery ran out and instead of showing me an alert, it just shut down. When I reconnected it to the charger, on its own, it ran some tests and said there were no problems detected. Then it rebooted and went into a screen with the message - "Operating System Loader has no signature. Incompatible with SecureBoot. All bootable devices failed. Secure Boot verification."

And the only other option on this screen is to shut down.

I looked at other threads on the forum and have tried the following -

1. disabled secure boot & rebooted.

2. let the battery run out and recharge again

3. Reset to default BIOS settings and add a new manual line for BIOS sequence

I do not understand the technical stuff with hardware/software and so haven't tried the more complicated solutions given in the forums.

I am really out of options here (except contacting Dell Support which is my last resort). I would really appreciate it if someone could help me out here. Thanks.

Poonam

2015 Skylake XPS 13 - Tapping (not holding) Power Button Shuts Down Computer

$

Yesterday, my Dell XPS 13 decided that every time I pressed the power button to put it into sleep mode, it would turn off instead. I've gone into the control panel (Windows 10 by the way) and the settings do not reflect this - they're set as the following:

"When I press the power button: On battery=sleep, Plugged in=sleep"

"When I press the sleep button: On battery=sleep, Plugged in=sleep"

"When I close the lid: On battery=Do Nothing, Plugged in=Do Nothing"

Yet pressing the power button (not holding) still completely shuts down the laptop. I don't know what would've caused this, as it didn't receive any updates before this started happening (neither Dell nor Win10).

inspiron 15 touchpad going crazy

For quite some time now the cursor on my laptop has been going wild.  It seems as if it is randomly clicking all over the screen.  While its doing this I am unable click on anything. It also creates a circular area in place of the cursor that I am sometimes able to click and drag using the touchscreen, and if I am bale to do this it will go away a go back to working properly for a while.  I also seem to be able to fi it sometimes by moving the screen back and forth.  If all of this fails closing the laptop until it sleeps and then restarting a few times seems to work.  In the time it took me to type this I have had to restart twice.

PLEASE HELP

Inspiron 3542 - everyday dies a little bit

I am completely disappointed with my Dell Inspiron 3542, that one, which comes with Core i3.

Previously I recommended everybody to buy Dell laptops because of the ratio quality/price. Even bought almost the same laptop for my parents. Almost all my friends bought Dell laptops and now I AM FILLING SHAME OF THAT!

Bought it around 3 years ago.

The first problem that appeared - vertical lines of different colors. When you take laptop from the back and open it after - a lot of lines appear after you turn it on. The same history when you push a little bit a l DELL logo under a display!

Second - one day it stopped working. No reaction on start button. I paid $150  to fix it.

Third one - one day battery decided to die. Now it work only when it is on charging cable.

What is going on? Why quality is  SO bad?

All previous dell laptops that I used - I changed them because only they became morally outdated, I had no problems with them.

And now I am absolutely disappointed.

Removing the battery completely or 'Desktop mode battery charge' is good to save battery?

I use the laptop longer every day indoor where electricity is available. I only need the battery when I'm taking the laptop out. A laptop battery will stop working in around 6 months

And my question:

My hard disk is sshd 1Tbyte. My laptop become slow because my hard disk is sshd and not ssd? It will be help if I combine my sshd with a ssd hard drive?( I mean buy a ssd and use bouth ssd and sshd)

My system spec:

Dell Inspiron 15 7567 Gaming Laptop, Intel i7-7700HQ Quad Core Processor (6M Cache, up to 3.8GHz), 8GB DDR4 Memory, 1TB SSHD Hybrid Hard Drive w/8gb , 802.11ac WiFi + Bluetooth 4.2, NVidia GeForce GTX 1050Ti w/ 4GB GDDR5

Thank you for your time

Dell XPS 13 9350 Won't connect to the mobile tether internet?

$

As stated my XPS 13 barely a year old has had multiple issues with wifi in the past. Recently my phone was unable to tether to my XPS. Although it showed that there was reception, the pages would not load and loading gmail, etc would be impossible.

I have tried multiple phones which can tether my XPS and none work effectively.

Note that my phone can still tether to other devices such as my iPad and other laptops.

I have installed and updated all the drivers and was wondering why there is such an issue.

Thanks

XPS 13 trackpad problems

$

I've had my XPS 13 9360 for just about 2 months and the problems with the track pad are frustrating beyond belief.  I have made every possible combination of modifications to the controls suggested at various websites (with the exception of driver changes) yet problems both intermittent and constant continue at about the same rate.

I have been a user of Dell Laptops with trackpads for at least 15 years. without any problems. I can use other trackpads without any issues (i.e. I don't have zombie fingers)

My problems include:

1) no response at all

2) erratic and slowing of pointer movement

3) pointer jumps randomly (when using Chrome most often to  zoom controls in address bar)

4) pointer drifts

I currently have all gestures and pointer accuracy options OFF

I am using Window 10 Pro Ver. 1709 Build  16299.19 with all current updates installed.  (I have Dell auto update and installed all Dell updates)
