Capped CPU speed at 30%

Hi all, I've had my Precision 5510 for around 4 months now, but I've experienced massive slowdown when I've been using my media software (Adobe Suite).

I some recent updates, Adobe updates, and the Windows fall update.  Nothing seems to have fixed the issue.

I noticed while I working away  that in task manager the CPU utilisation seemed to be capped at 30%, never going above 0.78Ghz.

So I downloaded 4 different CPU stress tests and they all came showed poor CPU performance.  While they were running I was expecting Task Manager to show 100% utilisation on all 8 logical cores, but it only still uses 30% at 0.78Ghz.

Any ideas why this is happening?

Kind regards

Dell XPS 15 9560: Power on from off via AC Adapter Plug in

As the title says, has anyone got this feature working?

It can be enabled in the BIOS under Power Management - using latest FW version (1.5.0).

I have enabled it and when inserting the AC adapter plug when the laptop is OFF, the front white LED turns on for a second or two and then goes off - laptop does not power on.

My goal is to be able to turn the laptop on from power off without opening it :)

Thanks.

Dell E6530 Wireless issue

We have two Latitude E6530's in different locations with Win7 x64 with random wifi connection disconnecting every day or couple days. Even after installing an external USB TP-Link Wifi adapter, it too disconnects. This issue only started on 1 Latitude at a new home with different Modem.
Confirmed Power saving mode is off under Wifi settings, started without
Intel Pro software, only drivers, then installed Intel, same result. It would be acceptable if the connection would actually reconnect automatically as connect when in range is selected. Short of reinstalling Win7 or
replacing the entire PC, any suggestions?   Is this a x64 only bug?

Inspiron 15 N5010: Keyboard works in BIOS and will not work at OS init

Got a super strange issue here on an Inspiron 15 N5010: When the system starts up F12 and all other keyboard input works just fine at the BIOS level. As soon as the BIOS bootstraps over into the OS booter (Windows 7 and 10 via a USB boot flash drive), all keyboard input ceases.

An external keyboard behaves identically.

Fn + function keys DO still work at this point (ie, the screen brightness will decrease/increase whilst repeatedly pressing fn-f4/f45).

This has lead me to believe that the keyboard in and of itself is fine and that this is a problem with the laptop BIOS or system board...  Any thoughts?

I'm not seeing a clear way to update the BIOS since I can't even boot into Windows at this point and get any kind of input. The system hangs on the black screen just prior to booting Windows and gives the option to delete restoration data, but since I can't click it, it just stops at this screen. On Windows 10 boot, it simply hangs prior to booting the OS.

Inspiron 3043 AiO compatible for dual monitor???

I have a Inspiron 3043 and would like to use dual monitors for my work at home office. I know it does not have video output (vga, dvi-d, hdmi out) but could I use the dvi-d to usb 2.0 adapter to input the second monitor to the usb port? I have a feeling this is possible bc in display settings it shows the second monitor as being detected but the screen is black (yes it is a verified monitor, it works!) and I have tried using the Windows IU display settings to extend the display. both monitors are showing in display settings but 2nd monitor says "no signal" so obviously the hdmi is not putting out (bc it is only hdmi in, I got that)

has anyone been able to successfully use a second monitor with this AiO desktop?? or have I royally screwed up buying this thing?? if no way to piggy-back an extended display (not just mirrored), I cannot use it for work and wasted money buying it.. help please!!

To dell support team: please do not respond to my question with the diagram of the side of the computer and a list of available ports as I have seen in every similar post. I am fully aware of what ports are available and that will not help. but thank you in advance for any usable knowledge shared.

Dell XPS 13 Unknown Device in Device Manager

Hi,
I have just bought a second hand Dell XPS 13 9343 from Ebay.
Having looked in device manager there are two unknown devices under Other devices as can be seen:

The two unrecognised are:
1) PCI Data Acquisition and Signal Processing Controller

Which brings up the following in properties:

2) Unknown device

Upon further inspection of the Unknown device I found the following which doesn't appear to result in much when googled:

Now as far as I have seen from using the laptop for 2 hours or so everything on the laptop seems to work but I would love to know what these two mysterious devices are that appear to be missing drivers
Thanks for your help

Dell service failure

Hello.

I had very bad expirience with dell service in my country. Company that i work for bought high class dell laptops with "next day" service obligation. First when we started brand new laptop, ssd bad fatal failure. For laptop with price over several thousand dollars it is very disappointing. Second we deliver laptop to dell service in our country and even we had paid for service in 24h we waited from 17.08.2017 till 29.08.2017. for service. But, main problem is that the laptop has been returned to us with the same problem it has been sent to Dell service center. After IT service from our company find out what happened we contacted Dell service in our country again. They said that thay will takeover laptop. I left laptop in my company and left on business trip. After seven days i got call from my company that nobady still didnt come for laptop. After that i called another dell service in my country. I dont belive that NEPO SYSTEM fom Serbia deserves to be costumer support that represent name such as DELL. I have many more bad experiences with this company but i will remain on this case now. For every word i have written here i have proof in mails that they have sent and in phone conversations with them.  Every costumer is first considering tehnical support and warranty. I believe in Dell as company and i like your products but i will rather buy 2nd class laptop with support than top class product without any.  If you want to contact me for more details i will be vlad to help.

My XPS 15 starts with a black screen and hissing fan noise

Hello,

I had a Dell XPS 15 notebook with GForce GT540M graphics card running windows 7 professional 64bit. When I power on the notebook, it won't kick off the Dell start up screen but instead had a loud hissing noise made by the fan and a black screen. I had to power on and off the computer for at least 10 times before the Dell start up screen kicks in but then when it starts windows, the screen turns black again this time without the fan noise. I had to power it off and on again till it goes to the normal windows "launch start up repair or start windows normally" screen and then press starts windows normally before windows can start properly. I had gone to the Dell website and update all my BIOS and drivers all over again as well as downloading Gforce latest drivers for GM540M graphics card but the situation is the same. I think it's the graphics card driver that had some conflict with the latest update of windows. Everything works fine prior to some windows update but as the windows update keep pilling on, it ended up like this. I also can't put my notebook to sleep or hibernation.

BIOS Upgrade (Dell Latitude E6510)

Did I install my BIOS updates in the wrong order?

I installed the E6510A10 upgrade fisrt and then tried to install E6510P02 but got a message saying "The System BIOS already contains the A01.1 patch. Patch update cancelled".

After that, I tried to install Latitude_E6510_A17 and got a message saying "You must upgrade to A11 before flashing to this BIOS."

So as of now, the only patch I am able to install is E6510A10 (the one I installed first). Is this the only one I need?

Dell XPS13 9360 Battery Not Detected

$

My Dell XPS13 is now showing "Battery Not Detected" in mouseover of the battery icon. Removing the powercable removes power from the laptop. It was working until today and the device is only 2 months old.

Both the Microsoft AC Adapter driver and the Microsoft-ACPI Battery driver is up to date.  I cannot update the BIOS as no battery is detected but when I check the BIOS it says that the 45W AC adapter is connected.

When I run diagnostics I get the following message at Step 5 (Running Your Tests) "We are unable to find the selected device. The device driver for your selected diagnostic is either not installed or installed incorrectly. Please ensure your device is enabled through your device manager or go to Drivers and Downloads to install the latest driver."

Any software suggestions please? I spend a lot of time on trains so only having a laptop that works when plugged into the mains is the equivalent of having a desktop.

Hi guys, now I am well aware that this model has gone absolete by now. Would really appreciate it if I could get any help from you guys. The laptop was working just fine like an hour ago and all of a sudden it goes blank. I try rebooting the laptop and it keeps powering off. I even tried hard resetting the laptop by removing the battery and draining the residual charge and running directly on charger adapter. The laptop powers off soon after the dell splash screen. It even turned off mid way while I was trying to run the diagnostics using f12. Any help wouldbe appreciated. Thanks

Yesterday I ran the latest Windows 10 update on my Inspiron 15 7000 series laptop and also upgraded the BIOS per Dell’s instructions. Now when I start it it says it can not access the camera. I do not know if this is a Windows problem or a BIOS problem. Suggestions?

Laptop power supply led goes out when connected to laptop

My Inspiron 17R (7720) power supply led goes out when connected to laptop.

If I unplug it from the laptop and mains then reconnect to mains it lights up again. Only to go out when reconnected to the laptop

Same happens with or without the battery inserted/

I'm guessing some sort of short on the mother board.

Anyone got any suggestions?
